Into the Unknown: Chapter 4

"You will regret this Lauren. I will get my revenge. Watch me. Same for you Anna and Kenneth." He walked away in a rush grabbing his suit case.

"Stupid children." He muttered. I can't believe he would try to re- enter my life. After all the pain he caused me, everything he's done. I'm in pain. He just stomped off this morning . Why won't he get out of my life?! I stumbled around trying to find somewhere to sit. The world seemed to spin. Kenneth grabbed hold of me and let me rest on the couch where I slowly drifted into a deep sleep.

"Lauren! Help! You promised! I trusted you!" It was the dream again, I looked around trying to find her. Laughter filled the world around me.

"Alice! Where are you?!" I yelled. I stumbled and I cried into my knees. Eventually, the laughter stopped but the pain inside was unbearable.

"Alice! Answer me! Please!" The sky seemed to roar in fury.

"Lauren! Lauren!"

"Lauren! Lauren! Wake up!" Kenneth shook me till I was awake. I was drenched in sweat and tears.

"Are you okay sweetie?" Anna asked. She looked concerned.

"What? What happened?" I was so confused.

"You were screaming in your sleep. You kept yelling, Alice! Where are you? Other things too." I sighed.

"I really want to find my sister. I need her. I wish I could find her. Can I get some supplies? I want to go rescue her." Anna looked at me.

"Sure. I'll pack, but let us come along." I nodded hesitantly. Anna packed a bag full of food and put a huge quilt in another. She packed a few pieces of clothing and looked at me.

"Are more comfortable wearing my clothes or his?" What type of question was that?! She was helping me, I would be fine with either.

"Any will do. I just need a jacket or a hoodie." She nodded and continued to pack. I was afraid that they would get hurt. I wanted to run off and go find Alice on my own, but they were my half-siblings and they helped me when I needed help. I can't be rude and runoff.

"Ready when you are," Anna said handing me a black hoodie and a bag. We wandered out of town hoping to find clues of their location. It seemed hopeless.

"Hey, I think we should stop and find somewhere to spend the night. It's getting dark." Anna said. I ran towards the house over the bridge.

"NO LAUREN! NOT THAT HOUSE!" I couldn't hear them. I was just hoping I could find information about the location of my sister. I knocked twice. When Anna and Kenneth came to my side I knocked again before a man appeared at the door.

"What do you want? Why do you need to disturb the king?" THE KING?! I seriously didn't think this through.

"I'm sorry. I didn't realize someone of high standards was living here but I'm trying to find my family." The man looked surprised and he let us in immediately. The inside of the house was huge and it was so beautiful. We were led into a room that seemed to be the living room.

"Please sit. So you said missing people?" I nodded.

"I think I know who it is but I cannot pinpoint her location. This lady is possessing one of our fellow subjects. They kidnapped her while she was out of town." Anna's eyes widen.

"M- mom.....I hope you're okay....." She looked utterly. upset.

"Sir, if we can find her. Can we ask you for help?" He nodded. Anna blinked back her tears. I wonder what really happened to their mom. I hope I can help them as they helped me.

"I miss my mom. I really hope I can find her even if she's possessed or whatever condition she's in." I stared at her. I wanted to say something to comfort her but I couldn't I just couldn't say a thing. There was a long moment of silence before the king finally said,

"I'm heading back to the castle today but would you like to be escorted by one of my drivers?" I shook my head no.

"That would be lovely but we really need to head out and find our family." The king nodded and sent us off with three pouches of gold coins. We walked and walked forever, after a few minutes of walking it was as if all that surrounded the little town was forests and more forests. It seemed to be an endless trail of nature and bugs. After a long time, we finally saw an exit to this endless forest. The exit seemed so far away, with every step we took the town looked worse and worse. We finally entered the town. I looked..... abandoned. We wandered around until I wandered away from Anna and Kenneth. I stood there looking at the buildings. Suddenly a pair of hands grabbed me and threw me into a giant potato sack.

"We got lucky. Boss will love this one."
