The real fight begins

"Is this some sort of domain?" Regal questioned as he stared at Ruphas and Scathach, who were nearly as strong as him with Ophis as his armor and weapon.

"You could say that, but it's a game board. A game board that empowers the two by using the dissipated mana from our attacks," Ruphas casually revealed, making Regal frown. Ruphas wasn't clear, but what she said had already shaken Regal's view on this whole situation.

Regal took a deep breath as his sword disappeared, "Ophis... we are playing this with magic and soul rings," he whispered as his soul rings appeared around him.

One after another, his soul rings manifested, and unlike before, where they had their own patterns and colors, it was different. All the rings were black with purple marks all over them, and each of them had dragon patterns and some scales as well.

Scathach and Ruphas frowned as they scrutinized the soul rings that were of a different color and pattern than what they were expecting. They weren't aware of the difference in what the patterns and colors meant, but any change related to Regal wasn't to be looked down upon.

Scathach turned into a red blur and disappeared. Regal's eyes barely followed Scathach's movement as she moved behind him, and from the corner of his eye, he saw Ruphas launching a spear at him.

[Soul Ring 6th: Temporal Rift

Creates a rift in time, allowing the user to manipulate the flow of time within a specified area. This includes slowing down, speeding up, or even reversing time for a short duration.]

Regal's 6th Soul Ring glowed, and he preserved time at a snail's pace while Scathach and Ruphas felt a tug on their perception, making an unnavigating feeling.

Scathach and Ruphas' spear landed on Regal, but his body opened up like mist, making them look for Regal, who was above them with his third soul ring glowing.

[Soul Ring 3rd: Elemental Nova - Unleashes a devastating burst of elemental energy.]

Regal pointed at Ruphas, who was the closest, his ring coming in front of his finger and gathering energy at an insane speed that was blinding. It burst out in a beam right at Ruphas.

Scathach, someone who relied on her instinct, noted it and hurled her spear at Ruphas, who was in shock, put up a barrier but was pushed back and avoided getting hit by Regal's Elemental Nova that could have killed her there.

Ruphas bent her barrier and flicked Scathach's spear toward Regal, who was releasing his Elemental Nova. Regal, seeing the spear fly at him, shifted his body a bit, letting the spear pass him.

[Soul Ring 1st: Barrier - Conjures a protective barrier utilizing ambient energy. Its size can be increased or decreased at will for a versatile defense.]

SPARK!!

Scathach's spear and Regal's barrier ground against each other, with Scathach appearing behind the spear and kicking it, making the spear impact the barrier. Cracks started to form, but still, the barrier held up.

Ruphas followed Scathach's attack with her own, a sword of light striking at the barrier and shattering it, but Ken only smiled as his new ring, the 8th Soul Ring, glowed.

[Soul Ring 8th: Void Annihilation

Opens a portal to the void, summoning a wave of destructive energy that consumes everything in its path. This energy can disintegrate matter, nullify magical effects, and disrupt the fabric of reality itself.]

Two black portals formed instantly, each of the portals facing Scathach and Ruphas, and a wave of destructive energy blasted out.

Ruphas and Scathach disappeared and reappeared on the other side of the battlefield entirely, but another portal formed right behind them, and again a wave of destructive energy blasted out.

Scathach twisted her body, facing the blast with her spear head-on with all her might while Ruphas moved out of the way but, in the process, lost her right wing and a bit of her right hand, which regenerated instantly.

Ruphas appeared above Regal and slammed a ball of pure mana and aura down. Regal stopped the blast on Scathach's side and used his first soul ring, creating a barrier that shattered. However, that barrier gave him enough time to move out of the way.

Scathach, who was freed from the blast, appeared beside Regal and plunged her spear into him. The spear pierced his neck, but only the tip of the spear was able to enter as Regal grabbed the spear with both hands while a portal formed in front of Ruphas and behind Scathach, blasting out a wave of destructive energy.

Scathach and Ruphas were prepared this time and quickly got out of the way, backing off.

Regal took out the spear from his already healed neck, tossed it away, and looked at the two who were getting stronger with each second. Not just that, the ambient energy and mana pouring into them made them stronger.

Regal smiled, seeing this. "At this point, you two are stronger than me," he complimented, making Scathach lightly chuckle.

"Don't butter us up, you are still the stronger one here," Scathach remarked, making Regal shrug. "If you ignore your soul rings and Ophis, then indeed we are stronger..." she added, making Regal perk up. "But this game isn't really fair, to begin with. This sky battlefield empowers us," she stated as her eyes glowed.

Ruphas's black wings expanded out, and a sword made out of pure solidified mana formed in her hand, her eyes blazing golden.

Scathach, on the other hand, had her presence spike to another level, her spear gleaming in a bloody red hue.

Both of them were absorbing the ambient energy that had been dispersed from the attack.

Regal widened his eyes as he felt just how much power Scathach and Ruphas had gained. It was temporary, but the amount of increase they had was absolutely horrifying.

Regal chuckled as his 7th soul ring glowed. Of course, he could tell what they were doing but allowed it.

[Soul Ring 7th: Arcane Convergence

Channels the energy of the entire surrounding environment, including ley lines and ambient magic, to exponentially amplify the user's magical abilities.]

"Flash" he called out and appeared behind Scathach, his arms wrapping around her waist, and his 2nd soul ring glowed with his 6th soul ring Temporal Rift already glowing, slowing down Scathach and Ruphas reaction speed while speeding up Regal's.

[Soul Ring 2nd: Vitality Drain

Absorbs the life force of opponents upon contact, sapping their strength and vitality while replenishing the user's energy reserves.]

Instantly, Scathach's expression became pale as Regal absorbed her vitality. Due to her being immortal, she had to compensate with energy. Scathach slammed the spear's end into Regal's ribs, pushing him away, but his armor wasn't just for show—it stored away all the damage.

Ruphas, on the side, slashed her sword down, making Regal back off, with his 6th ring still shining. Scathach spun her spear and slashed as well, her spear rapidly descending to his shoulder. Scathach had lined her strike there, but her body was weakened just now, making her movements a little too fragile.

Regal slapped the spear with the back of his hand, directing it just a little, which was enough to miss him. A portal appeared in front of him, blasting out at Ruphas, who had nearly stabbed him.
