Survival

Kadori stared at the notification in disbelief, a mix of confusion and wonder playing across his features.

He couldn't fathom how he was still alive after the brutal encounter with those monsters.

The memory was still fresh in his mind—the pain, the fear, and then... nothing.

Yet, here he stood, miraculously outside the walls with a notification hovering before him.

"I don't need a reminder to tell me I needed to survive," Kadori muttered, scanning his surroundings warily.

The monsters were undoubtedly still out there, lurking, waiting for their next prey.

He assessed these new creatures, noting their speed and strength.

They were an entirely different breed from the infected ones he was accustomed to handling.

These were a formidable challenge, sparking thoughts of whether they could breach the village's protective walls.

Glancing back at the notification, his eyes fell on a timer slowly ticking down.

'What will happen when the timer reaches 24 hours and the day is completed?' Kadori pondered, intrigued but cautious.

"I can't just wander around naked!" Kadori lamented, seeking cover behind a colossal mushroom.

"I suppose hiding here is better than taking unnecessary risks."

The sudden alert jolted Kadori to his feet.

His initial plan to stay put and wait for the countdown had been shattered by the stark warning.

There was no shortcut to success; he wasn't ready to meet another untimely demise.

"So, I have to move around the island?" Kadori grumbled, frustrated by the unwelcome change in plans.

The monsters still lurked, posing a significant threat.

After a series of complaints, Kadori mustered the resolve to press on.

"Where did I drop my clothes and blade?" he wondered, stepping forward cautiously.

He assumed they were near the spot where he had met his unfortunate fate.

"But how do I even find my way back? I'm not even sure where I am now."

He continued forward, employing the strategy of stealth and vigilance, all the while keeping an eye out for potential danger.

Three hours later...Kadori already settled down and drinking water from a small stream. Kadori had been walking around the island for the past three hours, trying to atleast find his blade or trousers.

While Kadori was busy drinking water and catching his breathe, thesame vexing notification popped up right in front of him.

"Shut up,I KNOW!" Kadori shouted, annoyed by the notification that kept on popping up when ever he stopped to rest.

After quenching his thirst,Kadori stood up and began to press forward again.

An hour passed and Kadori still moved forward. Using thesame strategy, hinding

Hours passed, Kadori's efforts unwavering. He moved with stealth, taking shelter behind trees and fungi, inching closer to his lost possessions.

"What's that?" Kadori wondered aloud, glimpsing an object a few meters away.

He approached it carefully, squinting to discern the object's identity.

As he drew nearer, it became apparent—it was the gear of the Runners, scattered across the forest floor.

"They must have abandoned it when they faced those monsters," Kadori surmised.

Opening the bag, he found sustenance, water, and a set of Runner attire.

"Finally," Kadori celebrated, donning the brown uniform.

He wondered if any of the Runners had survived the ordeal or if they had all fallen prey to the monsters.

In the sack, he discovered a gleaming blade along with various other weapons.

Kadori selected a few daggers and secured them, a newfound sense of security coursing through him.

"At least now I can defend myself a bit," he thought, snagging a few snacks before moving on to avoid the persistent warning messages.

The sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the island.

Remarkably, Kadori hadn't encountered any of the infected creatures or the new monsters.

Not encountering those monsters didn't feel too strange to Kadori..He assumed they were probably at the wrong place at the wrong time, and now the monsters were gone to where they came from.

But not encountering those infected creatures came as a surprise to Kadori. This island was filled with those creatures, why then

The island was typically teeming with them.

"Maybe survival won't be as daunting as I thought," Kadori mused, hopeful that the remaining hours would pass without incident.

TAM! TAM! TAM! TAM! TAM!

Startled, Kadori swung around, drawing his blade as he heard unfamiliar footsteps approaching.

He assumed an offensive stance, prepared for whatever might emerge.

Eight of the infected creatures materialized before him, their grotesque forms a testament to their malevolence.

"About time," Kadori muttered, gripping his sword tightly.

With a swift strike, he dispatched three of them, the ground stained with inky black blood.

The remaining five lunged at him with clawed fury, but Kadori's nimble movements allowed him to evade their strikes.

Seizing the opportunity, he counterattacked, severing one creature's outstretched arms.

The blade, infused with chaos energy by the Runners, granted Kadori a newfound strength.

In moments, all eight creatures lay vanquished.

"That felt good," Kadori admitted, wiping the black blood from his face and sword.

He glanced at the timer, noting the hours inching closer to completion.

DUM! DUM! DUM!

Kadori turned toward the source of the thundering footsteps, only to be met by the sight of a colossal, fearsome creature—eight feet tall, scales glinting, claws and fangs poised for a devastating attack.

"Holy..." Kadori's breath hitched, realizing the magnitude of the threat before him.
