Player number one

The morning sun rose, shining on the faces of the villagers who stood in front of the gate, weapons ready as they waited for the gate to be opened.

"Open the gate!" Baron Duncan ordered.

A rumbling sound could be heard as the mighty gate began to lift open.

The gate finally lifted, revealing the other side of the island.

"Where is he?" Baron Duncan murmured, glancing around to see if Kadori was nearby. "If I'm not back by nightfall, close the gate!" Baron Duncan instructed, getting himself ready to leave.

"You really want to go out there?" Baron Sikes inquired, "You know your Chaos Energy won't help you much out there."

After Baron Duncan received the Chaos Energy, he quickly realized he couldn't do what other Chaos Energy users could.

All his energy could help him with was healing, and that's all.

"I guess I'll just have to rely on my swordsmanship," Baron Duncan replied, making his way towards the exit.

Attempting to exit, his eyes spotted a group of people running towards the entrance like madmen.

Catching a glimpse of them, Baron Duncan quickly recognized them, "Why are the Runners back so early?"

The Runners finally arrived and entered the village, "Close the gate!" Bjorn shouted at the top of his lungs.

Seeing the Runners' reactions, Baron Duncan hesitated to leave and ordered for the gate to close.

The gate began to close slowly.

"What happened, Bjorn? Why are you guys back so early? And where's Sam and Kate?" Baron Sikes asked a barrage of questions.

"We were attacked," Bjorn replied, trying to catch his breath. "What attacked us wasn't the regular everyday creatures. This one was different. The strength, speed, and everything about them was too much to handle."

"After trying to defeat them, we lost Sam and Kate, so we thought it was wise to retreat," Bjorn finished explaining.

Hearing Bjorn's explanation, Baron Duncan's heart began to beat faster.

Kadori was out there with nothing to protect himself with.

If he got attacked by what attacked the Runners, there was no way he would get out alive.

"A-a-and what of Kadori? Did you see him?" Baron Duncan inquired, his voice mixed with sadness and fear.

"You mean Kadori went outside these walls?" Bjorn questioned with a worried expression.

"If Kadori went out, then I guess this belongs to him," Modred said, pulling out a tattered Runner's uniform covered in blood, "I saw this on our way back here."

Baron Duncan quickly snatched the uniform from Modred to take a closer look.

After examining the uniform for a couple of minutes, tears rolled down his eyes.

"You don't have to worry too much," Baron Sikes said, hoping to calm down Baron Duncan, "No one knows if it belongs to Kadori or not. Besides, they didn't find his body."

Baron Duncan wiped the tears from his eyes and walked to his residence.

"Give me more description about this beast that attacked you guys," Baron Sikes inquired from the Runners.

"They were nothing like we have ever seen before. Eight feet tall, most of their body was covered in black scales making it difficult for our attacks to penetrate. They also had these claws and fangs that were long and sharp like a blade," Modred described.

Baron Sikes stood there in silence, rubbing his chin in contemplation, "Is it possible that it's those creatures that evolved into the beast? Or did those beasts come from a whole new place?"

Outside the walls, in the busy areas covered with tall trees and giant red mushrooms, laid a naked boy.

Kadori's eyelids began to lift open as he slowly regained consciousness.

Fully regained consciousness, Kadori lifted his back off the floor and sat upright.

The rays of the sun shone brightly into his eyes, forcing him to lift up his arm to block it.

Kadori shifted his gaze to the area he currently was, "I'm not dead?" Kadori wondered, glancing at his body to see if he was wounded in any way.

But there was nothing. Not even a scratch.

"I'm pretty sure those beasts killed me," Kadori mused with a puzzled expression.

The last thing he remembered was him giving up and the beast striking him dead with their vicious claws.

"How is this possible?" Kadori wondered, "Maybe someone came in at the last second to save me. But who? And why the hell am I naked?!"

Realizing he was naked, Kadori covered his crown jewels with his hands and glanced around if anyone was there.

But the only thing he saw was trees and mushrooms.

While examining the area, Kadori felt a loud ringing in his head, then followed by a robotic voice.

"What on earth is this?" Kadori wondered, glancing at the blue holographic screen in front of him.

"Haha, maybe I was struck with madness instead of death," Kadori rubbed his eyes hoping to get the screen away.

"Why is it still there?" Kadori thought, tilting his head sideways and noticed the screen was following him wherever he moved to.

The same familiar voice spoke again, this time Kadori was convinced that he wasn't imagining things.

"What do you mean system of player number 1?" Kadori inquired with a confused expression.
