Chapter 48: A Dark Peace
Dalton arrived home and started to make dinner.
Autumn arrived shortly after Dalton had gotten everything going.
“Come in!” he shouted when he heard her knock.
Autumn came in and sat at the counter.
“Hey Dalton, how was your shift?”
“Oh, same ol’, same ol’.” A smile crossed Dalton’s face as he replied and continued cooking.
“Can I help with anything?” Autumn offered.
“No, that’s alright. I pretty much got it covered. Thanks for coming though, I know that there’s been a lot going on it seems like.”
He looked over to peek at Autumn whose face remained blank.
She looked exhausted and as if she wasn't fully there at the moment.
Dalton was suddenly panged with hope that she would come up to him and wrap her arms around from behind and kiss his neck, trusting him with all of her problems.
Instead though, she kept her distance and just moved to lean against the support beam.
