"What do you know about me? Huh? What gives you the right to think that you know me?" He told himself that he should give up on this useless fight. It was not the first time he had heard it.
There would be many in this world who would not like him. He could not go to all of them and ask them to like him and respect him. Most of the time, he did not even care what others thought about him.
Then why? Why did she have that effect on him?
"Who are you?" The words flinched and she struggled hard to get her hands free.
"I am a mere maid and it did not sit with your position that you hold my hand in public. Let me go." She struggled again but she was no match to his strength.
He pressed hard when she winced and closed her ears. Hot tears were brimming in the corner of her eyes.
