Meeting Coulson…

June 12th, 1995 - Earth

Kamar-Taj, Kathmandu - Nepal

As David disappeared through the portal, the Ancient One closed it behind him, her gaze following his departure with a mixture of pride and concern. "You can speak now," she announced, turning to face Wong, who looked on with evident worry etched on his features.

"Was it wise to let him go so early, Master?" Wong queried, his concern evident in his tone. The Ancient One regarded him thoughtfully before responding, her expression serene yet firm.

"Although he is young, he has been blessed with great power. Keeping him confined here until he is old enough will do him no good," she explained, her words carrying the weight of wisdom accumulated over centuries. "All sorcerers have lived storied lives before finally joining our ranks. Some experience is necessary."

"But he's so young," Wong protested, his brow furrowing with concern. The Ancient One offered him a reassuring smile, her eyes reflecting a deep sense of understanding.

"Worry not. This adventure won't be too taxing for him. The being he is going to join is incredibly powerful. She will protect him," she assured him, her confidence unwavering.

June 12th, 1995 - Earth

Outside a Blockbuster, Los Angeles - USA

Next to a deserted Blockbuster store within a shopping strip stood a solitary RadioShack, its parking lot eerily deserted save for a lone police cruiser stationed nearby. In front of the RadioShack, a weathered phone booth stood, its once vibrant red paint faded with time. Inside the booth, a blonde-haired woman clad in a sleek, form-fitting uniform tinkered with the outdated equipment, her focus intent on her task.

Suddenly, a swirling vortex of orange energy materialised just outside the phone booth, expanding to reveal a small figure stepping through. As the child emerged, he glanced around, his expression one of complete bewilderment. Through the closing portal, the woman caught a glimpse of a bald woman smiling before it vanished entirely.

David found himself standing before the woman, utterly perplexed by his surroundings. He had never encountered a uniform quite like hers, leading him to surmise that she must be some sort of hero he was unfamiliar with. "Why did Mum send me here?" he wondered silently as he gazed up at the woman, who returned his bewildered stare with equal confusion.

"Hi, my name's David. What's yours?" he ventured, breaking the awkward silence that hung between them.

"Hi, Vers. Kree StarForce," she replied curtly, her tone clipped and businesslike. Another awkward pause ensued as she struggled to comprehend the sudden appearance of the young boy before her, while David attempted to make sense of her cryptic response.

"So, umm, what's a Kree?" David inquired, his curiosity piqued by the unfamiliar term.

"We are noble warriors fighting for..." Vers began, only to trail off as she realised her priority lay in establishing contact with her comrades. Hastily returning to her task of modifying the phone booth, she brushed off David's question, leaving him to ponder the implications of her enigmatic response.

Observing the futuristic wrist-mounted device adorning her uniform, David's shock gave way to realisation. "I guess the Kree are aliens or maybe the government?" he mused silently, his mind whirling with the implications of this unexpected encounter.

As Vers focused on her task of modifying the phone booth, David couldn't contain his curiosity, eager to engage in conversation despite the awkward circumstances.

"So, umm, Vers, what are you doing with that phone booth?" David inquired, his voice laced with childlike wonder.

Vers glanced briefly at him, her brow furrowing in concentration as she adjusted the wires inside the booth. "I'm making some modifications to it," she replied tersely, her attention quickly returning to her work.

David, undeterred by her curt response, persisted with his line of questioning. "Why are you making modifications? Is it for some kind of mission?"

Vers hesitated, torn between her need for secrecy and her desire to put the child's curious mind at ease. "Yes, it's for a mission," she conceded, choosing her words carefully.

Excited by the prospect of adventure, David's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "Wow, that sounds really cool! Can I help?" he asked eagerly, his youthful eagerness shining through.

Vers paused, taken aback by the boy's offer. She had never encountered a child so willing to jump headfirst into unfamiliar circumstances with a stranger, and she couldn't help but admire his bravery. "I appreciate the offer, David, but this mission requires a certain level of expertise," she replied diplomatically, hoping to gently dissuade him from getting involved.

Undeterred by her response, David persisted, his curiosity getting the better of him. "But I'm a really quick study! I probably know way more physics than anyone my age," he insisted, his eyes pleading with Vers to let him assist.

Vers couldn't help but smile at the child's earnestness, charmed by his innocence and determination. "I'm sure you're a smart kid, David, but this is something I need to do on my own," she replied kindly, her tone softened by a hint of warmth.

Disappointed but undeterred, David nodded understandingly, accepting Vers's decision with a sense of resignation. "Okay, I guess I'll just watch then," he conceded, his curiosity still burning bright.

As Vers completed the modifications and made a call to talk to her comrades, David began wandering around her, content to observe and glance at the posters in the n blockbusters next door. While this was going on David noticed a bunch of cop cars arrive and saw the first person he recognised since being reborn, it was a young Nick Fury followed by a younger agent Coulson.

As Fury was walking towards the target he noticed something strange, there was a child in casual clothes standing by the target waving at him with a goofy smile on his face. "Coulson, take the child while I question the target," he ordered

As Coulson approached David, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The sight of a child standing alone in such a situation raised suspicions, but he maintained a calm demeanour as he addressed him.

"Hey kid, can I talk to you inside?" Coulson gestured towards the nearby blockbuster, hoping to move the conversation away from the target. "Following a stranger into an empty building seems like a bad idea," David replied in a childish voice, earning a chuckle from Vers behind him.

He considered Coulson's suggestion for a moment before responding with a playful remark. "Well, you seem like a pretty trustworthy guy," he quipped, flashing a mischievous grin.

Before Coulson could press further, David took matters into his own hands and headed towards the blockbuster on his own. Coulson followed closely behind, keeping a watchful eye on Fury as he began his interrogation of the target.

Once inside, Coulson resumed his line of questioning, his tone gentle yet probing. "So, where are your parents?" he inquired, hoping to glean more information about David's situation.

David's response only added to Coulson's confusion. "Hmm, my mom's the one that sent me here. It's my first errand!" he exclaimed with childlike enthusiasm.

Coulson furrowed his brow, puzzled by David's words. "Is the woman outside your mother?" he pressed, seeking clarification.

David's playful demeanour faltered slightly as he considered Coulson's question. "This is starting to feel one-sided," he remarked with a pout, his childlike innocence contrasting with serious questions an inexperienced agent was asking.

As they heard an explosion outside the blockbuster, Agent Coulson grabbed David and ran for cover. After a few minutes with no activity outside they bolted toward the entrance of the blockbuster, their hearts racing with a mixture of curiosity on David's part and apprehension on Coulson's part. Stepping outside, they were met with a scene of unexpected emptiness. The once bustling parking lot now lay deserted, save for the distant sight of Fury's car speeding away. Coulson's perplexed expression mirrored David's own confusion as they took in the surreal sight before them.

"What's happening?" David's voice trembled with uncertainty, his eyes scanning the vacant lot for any sign of life.

"I... I'm not sure," Coulson admitted, his brow furrowed in consternation. "I didn't anticipate Fury leaving without me."

A mischievous spark ignited in David's eyes as an idea formed in his mind. "Want to follow them?" he suggested with a sly grin, his excitement palpable.

Before Coulson could respond, David activated his ionic Aura, enveloping himself in a shimmering blue glow. With effortless grace, he lifted off the ground, his levitation leaving Coulson momentarily speechless. In one swift motion, David scooped up Coulson by his arms, their ascent punctuated by Coulson's startled cries echoing through the night.

As they soared into the air, trailing after Fury's retreating car, David's exhilaration mingled with a sense of exhilarating adventure. With each passing moment, he felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins, propelling him forward into the unknown. This was the first time he wasn't just flying for fun.
