The news that they might not get titled as Barons in the future just for having Magic would be a massive upheaval to their society. Barons were hardly considered Nobles now, but the title came with more rights in the Fallen Empire, including business rights and the removal of property ownership restrictions.
They had known that things were going to change, as the humans in this world could teach most of their population to use magic, and they couldn't have that many new Nobles under the old system. But they hadn't expected it to come so suddenly.
"It looks like we are a bit out of the loop. But our orders haven't changed, and we are instructed to bring this planet into compliance." The head of the attacking group informed Wolfe.
"In that case, I am actually helping you, right? If I remove all the noncompliant people from this world, it becomes compliant much more easily." Wolfe suggested.
