(T.U.W 24) FLAME

Gohn struggled to maintain his focus on the flames that had aided his levitation. Panic surged within him as he grappled with the aftermath of having his left eye gouged out by the woman. "ARGHH!" His rage-fueled screams echoed as he allowed his anger to consume him. The yellow flames surrounding his armor intensified, enveloping him completely. The sword he gripped grew thicker and sharper, infused with the fiery yellow energy. He looked towards them with a wild, erratic demeanor, swinging his sword recklessly, hoping that a blaze-infused slash would strike them. Oblivious to the destruction he caused, he disregarded the houses and civilians in the kingdom, swinging his sword with careless abandon.

However, both the woman and the man wore smug smirks. The woman effortlessly evaded Gohn's flaming slashes, displaying an uncanny agility. Ignoring the instinct to retreat, she surged forward, launching herself at him. With precision, she used her knee to connect with Gohn's face, causing his nose to break and sending him stumbling backward.

"W-WRAGHHHHHHH!" Gohn's enraged scream pierced the air, a testament to his frustration and pain.

Meanwhile, in the underground chamber, Bell stood utterly shocked by the unfolding events. "I knew he was powerful, but to be this powerful?! He even knows healing circle magic... Although the mana consumption of the magic isn't much, the most troubling part of using that magic is energy loss... But he looks fine," Bell mused to himself, his thoughts swirling.

Juro observed Bell's puzzled expression, and a smirk played upon his lips. "Pft, you think your teacher won't be able to handle it?" he exclaimed.

Bell, caught off guard, responded, "Yes, I didn't expect an old ma--" Before Bell could finish his sentence, Juro playfully bonked his head, cutting him off mid-sentence.

Juro let out a sigh, a smile gracing his lips as he stretched his arms before he began speaking, "You should go take them back to the in--"

Mid-sentence, Marc's voice interjected, "Uegh... No... I'm fine... Take the princesses instead."

Juro turned his impressed gaze to Marc, surprised by how quickly he had regained consciousness. Marc's serious expression turned toward Bell as he asked, "What happened... Where are they now?"

Bell heaved a sigh, ready to answer, but Juro spoke up first, saying, "Ah! I'll be right back! I gotta secure the princesses, Ve, and Ve's mom back to the inn." With utmost care, Juro lifted the two princesses, casting a glance back at Bell and Marc. "Hey... You two can discuss what just happened, but don't do anything reckless," he advised, his tone cautious yet caring. With that, he guided Ve and her mother out of the underground chamber and toward the inn.

As they were left alone, Marc's curiosity got the better of him. "What was that, trying to act all mature all of a sudden? He didn't even ask us to go back with them," he remarked, slightly puzzled by Juro's behavior.

Bell's response was calm and confident, "He knew."

Marc's confusion deepened. "Huh? Knew what?"

Bell's tone was sure as he explained, "He knew we would want to stay."

Marc was taken aback, ready to object, but Bell wasn't finished. "Gohn... Is here, currently fighting the woman and the man," Bell revealed, causing Marc's eyes to widen in surprise. Marc quickly composed himself, adopting a calm expression as he asked Bell for additional details on what happened while he was unconscious.

Consumed by his seething rage, Gohn lunged toward them once again, driven by an overwhelming urge for vengeance. "I'm getting bored. Let's end him!" the girl exclaimed, her grin unsettling as she spoke. Abruptly, she began to gauge out her own left eye the blind eye. A sense of disbelief washed over Gohn as he froze, unable to comprehend the horrifying scene unfolding before him. Blood dripped down as the girl laughed, a disturbing display of her actions. In an almost surreal twist, she brings out Gohn's eye and placed it into her empty socket. The blue eye emitted an eerie glow, and as the light intensified, yellow flames enveloped both of her hands, mirroring the same flames that adorned Gohn's sword. "WOOOA, sooo cool!!!✨" she exclaimed, her excitement palpable as she reveled in her newfound power. Gohn's face dampened with sweat, his shock and disbelief mingling with dread. The woman who had taken his left eye was now fused with the girl, a chilling transformation that rattled Gohn to his core.

Turning her neck, the woman fixed her gaze upon Gohn, sending shivers down his spine as he stared at his own eye, intact and now an integral part of another person. The woman's eyes glowed—a radiant red on her right, and a luminous, eerie blue on her left. Gohn's mind raced, overthinking and carelessly letting his guard down. In that crucial moment, the woman seized the opportunity, closing the distance between them. She unleashed her own hands, ablaze with yellow flames, aiming to sever Gohn's torso. A stroke of luck enabled Gohn to move slightly, resulting in only his armor being sliced in half. The woman's laughter filled the air, gleeful as she surveyed Gohn's exposed chest the armor now divided.

With a swift punch, the woman targeted Gohn's chest. Instinctively, Gohn reacted in panic, using his sword as a makeshift shield. The impact of the blow sent Gohn reeling, blood spurting from his mouth even though he hadn't been directly struck. The force propelled him downward at alarming speed, and in the process, his sword shattered into pieces.

With Bell's finishing his explanation on what just happened, the two of them got out from the underground chamber, trying to get back to the inn with Juro and the others. As they walked through the kingdom, a distressing scene of chaos unfolded before them. The once-thriving streets were now filled with terrified people running and screaming. Buildings were ablaze, and establishments lay in ruins restaurants, inns, and more. Amid the mayhem, Marc's eyes widened, his steps faltering as he caught sight of a heart wrenching sight.

Before him, an orphanage was consumed by flames, the heat licking at its walls. His gaze shifted to a woman who stood amidst the turmoil, her heartache showed. She cried out, her voice laced with desperation and grief, held back by others who tried to prevent her from rushing into the burning orphanage. "But the kids are in there!!! Let go! Please!! Please save them!!" she pleaded, tears streaming down her cheeks as she begged, her agony showed.

As he witnessed the heart-rending scene, Marc's chest tightened, his breath becoming shallow. His eyes remained fixed on the burning orphanage, unable to tear away. In that moment, a weight settled over him, his sense of helplessness overwhelming as he grappled with the devastating reality before him.

Bell noticed Marc's expression, and without hesitation, he placed his hands in front of Marc's face and snapped his fingers, jolting Marc back to consciousness. Marc's breathing returned, and he looked around, realizing that Bell had helped him snap out of it. In gratitude, Marc let out a sigh and thanked Bell.

Bell just looked at him and said, "You know what we're about to do, huh?"

Marc smiled and said, "Yeah…"

Without further delay, Both Bell and Marc rushed towards the burning orphanage. Bell used his dark leap to soar over the people who were surrounding and blocking the entrance. Marc used his mana to increase his speed and dodged the people who tried to stop him.

"Look! Two kids are going inside!" one of the civilians shouted.

Marc went straight towards the orphanage entrance, while Bell went through the roof. They split up and searched for any children or anyone else who might be trapped inside. Bell opened door after door on the second floor, while Marc checked the first floor. The smoke made it hard for Marc to breathe, but he ignored it and used his strength to look for survivors. He was lucky to find a kid lying on the floor, holding a blanket. Under the blanket was a baby. Marc's eyes widened and he quickly grabbed the kid and the baby in his arms. He used all of his strength and mana to boost himself out of the orphanage.

Bell searched through each door and finally found three kids lying on the ground. One was bleeding from his head and the other two seemed fine except for a few scratches and burns. Bell quickly ran towards them and tried to grab all of them, but then he realized that his body was that of a nine-year-old and the kids were almost as big as him. "Damnit!" he panicked and looked around. He saw a white long blanket that hadn't been burnt yet, so he grabbed it and wrapped the smallest kid in it. He picked him up and bit the blanket, using his dark mana to support his jaw. He used his two arms to grab the other two kids and quickly used mana leap to propel himself downwards. Bell was sweating a lot, trying his best not to make a single mistake. He used mana leap again and changed his angle, using his legs to break through the floor and walls while constantly healing himself. He finally reached the outside of the orphanage and used every bit of his strength to stop himself from hitting the civilians. He threw the two kids in his arms, trusting the people to catch them. Fortunately, they did. Bell then used his dark claw to dig into the ground and stop his speed before hitting anyone. Bell finally stopped and slowly lowered his head, letting go of the blanket he was holding with his teeth. He sighed in relief and saw Marc by his side, who had also successfully escaped the orphanage.

The rescue team arrived just as the kids were rescued. They quickly tried to put out the fire and treat the children's injuries and burns. Bell and Marc felt relieved to see them getting help, but their smiles faded as they remembered the other kids who had perished in the flames. Bell sighed and patted Marc on the back, saying, "Let's go…"

As they were about to leave, they were stopped by the rescue team, who asked them to take shelter at the adventurer guild, where there was a barrier that kept them safe.

Bell and Marc both refused and told them that they were looking for someone. As the words left their lips, Gohn's body plummeted from above at a furious speed, crashing into them with an impact that sent them hurtling away from the crowd. Their bodies collapsed under the force, their strength giving way.

The woman and man then slowly descend down in front of them

'Is this it? Is this how I'm going to die? Next to this fat golden pig? Argh… Is Marc okay? He seems to have trouble breathing… Ah… They're slowly walking closer…' Bell's vision began to blur as he teetered on the edge of consciousness.

However, just as darkness threatened to overtake him, an unexpected surge of energy coursed through his body, revitalizing him. In an instant, Bell and Marc's injuries were miraculously healed. The two exchanged puzzled glances, struggling to comprehend on what just happened. Then, a familiar voice reached their ears, pulling them back from the brink of unconsciousness.

"Oi... Oi... Oi... You can't be that low, trying to fight kids, right?" Juro's casual, confident voice rang out. He strode forward, his grin unwavering as he faced the woman and the man, his very presence exuding an air of authority.
