Incomplete System in Marvel

A man wakes up in the body of Peter Parker with almost no memories of his previous life. How will he survive in a Marvel Universe that is much more different and dangerous than just the movie universe? A system, of course! But what’s up with this system being in version 0.1 and having almost no features? ------------ Turn off your brain and don't put too much thought into things. I certainly didn't.

System Update 0.4

------------------------------

[The Other's Blessing]

All stats gained from level-ups are doubled.

------------------------------

So… not a dream? That's slightly concerning.

Although, with a perk like that, I suppose I can't complain.

[The system has been updated to version 0.4, click here to see the changelog.]

For the time being, I close the window showing me that perk and stop thinking about it. It's not like there is much I can do about it with my current strength, either way. If those fuckers wanted to kill me, then I'd already be dead.

Time to see what the system update brings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Welcome to version 0.4 of the system! This update brings a few new features as well as changes to previous additions. For details, please continue reading.]

[Equipment - You can now equip anything through your inventory whenever you wish. You can also make equipped items appear invisible while still giving you the stat boosts.

Slots for equipment are as follows: Helmet, Chestpiece, Pants, Boots, Gloves, Earrings, Necklace, two rings, Left-Hand weapon, Right-hand weapon, Super Hero Costume, Wrist accessories.]

[Critical Hits - Deal double damage when catching enemies by surprise, stabbing them in the back. You may also end up getting critical hits with normal attacks if your luck stat is high enough.

[Luck Stat - Increases quality and quantity of loot dropped from enemies. Increases critical hit chance. Has several hidden effects.]

[Difficulty - The option to change the difficulty setting has been unlocked in the settings menu. An easier difficulty means weaker enemies but also worse loot, less xp, and slower system updates in the future. Higher difficulty will do the opposite.

Possible difficulties: Easy, Normal (current), Hard, Nightmare]

[Miscellanius Changes - Observe has been changed to no longer be a multi-level skill. The daily training quest that grants free stat points has been removed. Money drops have once again been nerfed as the host has become one of the top 10 wealthiest humans on the planet.]

[Bugs - Many bugs have been fixed, and many new unknown bugs have probably been implemented.]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Please look forward to further updates in the future.]

I take time to carefully read through the changelog several times to not miss anything important before closing it and exploring the changes myself.

The equipment menu is self-explanatory but very useful. I can now just put on my spiderman suit whenever I want through the inventory while also wearing my other gear out on the streets by just making them invisible to the eye.

The Luck Stat and Critical hits are a welcome addition that will help me alot in the future, so no complaints there either.

Difficulty changing is… interesting. I walk back and forth in my room for a good hour trying to decide whether it is a good idea to up the difficulty to hard or even nightmare. The stronger enemies would obviously be pretty bad for me, but the positives that come from it, like faster system updates, are appealing.

In the end, I decided not to change it… for now. If I ever feel like things are becoming too boring or easy for me, I may do that, but for now, I am still not at the point I could comfortably do whatever I wanted.

As for all the other things? Not really all that important. I'm a little sad to see the training mission go away since it was an easy 3 points every single day, but oh well. Oh, and this is what Observe looks like now.

------------------------------

[Observe - Active] (Level Max)

Provides very basic information on the target.

------------------------------

It seems to be the same as earlier on inanimate objects though I have yet to use it on actual people or monsters.

The next order of business is to choose a new class, as I had maxed out the beginning one I got. Before that, though, I quickly used up the skill book that Vulture dropped and check out the new skill I got for maxing out the Spiderman class.

------------------------------

[Auto-Collect - Passive] (Level Max)

Automatically puts all loot from defeated enemies into the inventory.

------------------------------

[Spiderlings - Passive] (Level Max)

[Cost - 1 charge out of 3]

Let's you gift spider powers to 3 people of your choice. If the Spider-Totems do not agree, the recipient will die.

------------------------------

An entirely useless skill. Giving spiderman powers to people like Felicia or Gwen would be great to increase their strength, but the fact that the spider totems could just kill them off if they don't find them worthy or whatever is a pretty big drawback. Big enough to make me just discard the skill and most likely never use it.

So far, the great totems have been the only ones to give out the powers, so I'm not sure how they would react to a mortal like me suddenly giving them out to random people. Some, like the Gatekeeper, didn't seem too fond of me, so I doubt they would allow others I choose to pass too easily either.

Anyways, onward to classes. I open my status window and click on the 'class' button to choose a new one, and a prompt shows up.

[Dear Host, before choosing your new class, would you like a quick explanation of how classes work?]

[YES / NO]

I click Yes as there is no reason to refuse getting some free information before I go and do something stupid.

[Classes are divided into four different categories: Magic, Warrior, Rogue, and Special.]

[In the beginning, you will only have some basic classes available, but as you move on, you will unlock more advanced classes by several means, like maxing out previous classes, hitting a threshold in a specific stat, or doing certain things in the real world or dungeons.]

[Weaker classes like Fire Magician or Warrior are going to be much easier to level up than stronger ones like Time Magician or Dragon King]

With that short explanation, the messages stopped coming, and the actual class menu opened up.

[Magic] [Warrior] [Rogue] [Special]

Out of those four options, my eyes immediately go to [Special] out of curiosity as that probably holds the best classes. I am met with disappointment, however, as the list inside is entirely empty.

'Wait didn't I have that class token…' I open my inventory and find the item I was looking for.

------------------------------

Unique Class Token - Jedi Padawan

Enables the Jedi Padawan class.

------------------------------

I use the token and right away see a new class appear in the [Special] menu. I click on it to inspect it.

------------------------------

Embark on the path of the force by becoming a Jedi Padawan.

Adds the [Force] stat on the host's status page. It cannot be increased with stat points and must be increased by special means such as meditation.

Enables the morality mechanic in the system. Be careful of your actions, or you may move down the path of a Sith rather than that of a Jedi.

------------------------------

Sounds interesting, but for now, I don't think I will be picking that. If I learned anything from the Spiderman class, it is that unique classes are gonna be much harder to level up compared to normal ones, and for now, I just need a way to get more useful skills and a lot of stat points quickly.

With that thought, I back out of the [Special] classes menu and instead open up [Magic]

[Elementalist] [Sorcerer] [Illusionist] [Necromancer] [Summoner]

Further clicking on Elementalist, I get a choice between Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, or Dark.

Going through each of the elements slowly, I start eliminating the choices.

Fire and Darkness are the first to go. Out of the bunch, they probably have the best destructive potential, but seeing as I'm mostly fighting in streets with lots of buildings or people around, I will have to let it go at least until later when I have more experience with magic and am confident I'm not accidentally gonna set an entire block on fire or do whatever bad stuff darkness would.

Earth is the next to go, as while that would probably have great defensive abilities, it's not exactly what I'm looking for right now.

Light is out as well, mostly cause I'm not sure what light magic would entail. It might have alot of healing-related stuff, which I want, but damage potential is also essential. What I'm trying to say here is that I want something with alot of versatility which is why I end up choosing water.

Wind would be cool, and I will probably end up picking that at some point in the future for the possibility of using wind for flight, but water seems like the best choice for me at the current time.

It's an element I remember seeing used in many ways in different games or anime, be it causing damage, creating shields, or even healing, so I bank my hopes on it being a jack of all trades and choose it.

[You have chosen the Water Mage class]

------------------------------

[Water Mage]

[2 INT, 2 WIS, 1 VIT each level up]

------------------------------

(Note: Those are before taking into account the perk MC gained earlier on in the chapter that doubles all stat gains from classes.)

[Using excess XP left over from previous class]

[Leveled up 57 times!]

[New skill obtained - Water Resistance]

[New skill obtained - Water Tendrils]

[New skill obtained - Bubble Shield]

[New skill obtained - Spring-Water Coating]

[New Perk Obtained - Talented Magician]

[New Perk Obtained - Quick Rejuvenation]

Whoa okay.

That's alot of stuff there, I didn't realize all excess XP would be held and carried over to the new class, but I'm not complaining. Not only that, but I gained two new perks, possibly from hitting new thresholds in Intelligence and Wisdom?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name - Peter Parker

Race - Human

Level - 157

Class - (Water Mage 57/100)

XP - 82%

HP - 9,125 / 9,125 (1,220 per hour)

SP - 6,975 / 6,975 (697.5 per minute)

MP - 33,700 / 33,700 (3,550 per minute)

STR - 365

VIT - 369

END - 290

DEX - 377(+40)

INT - 674

WIS - 685(+25)

LCK - 10

CHA - 10

Free Stat Points - 62

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There have certainly been a few changes there since the last time I looked, and as I suspected, both Intelligence and Wisdom had gone over 500, which probably caused me to get the two new perks.

------------------------------

[Talented Magician]

Increases maximum mana by 2x

------------------------------

[Quick Rejuvenation]

Increase mana regeneration by 2x

------------------------------

I close all the system windows I had opened up during the past hour or so but quickly remember I had gained one more interesting item from the previous fight.

------------------------------

Special Dungeon - Temple of Time

Enter a special dungeon with extravagant rewards and something special waiting for you at the end.

Warning: You will not be able to exit the dungeon until you fully complete it.

Note: The user is unable to enter the dungeon alone. A party of three is required to enter the dungeon.

------------------------------

Well, shit guess I won't be entering that any time soon, considering the system doesn't even have a party system yet.

I put the token back into my inventory and take a look out the window to see that the sky is pitch black. It's already past midnight, as I had slept through most of the day. Well, what better time to go dungeon diving and test out all my new stuff. If I can't go to the special dungeon, I'll just have to go back to the normal ones.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: As promised, here is the second half of the 4k chapter I ended up writing. This one has alot of system stuff and info dump, but it has to happen every once in a while.
