Incomplete System in Marvel

A man wakes up in the body of Peter Parker with almost no memories of his previous life. How will he survive in a Marvel Universe that is much more different and dangerous than just the movie universe? A system, of course! But what’s up with this system being in version 0.1 and having almost no features? ------------ Turn off your brain and don't put too much thought into things. I certainly didn't.

Crescent Kingdom

I opened my dungeon menu and entered the werewolf dungeon I had previously already cleared all the way to the boss. Without bothering with any of the regular enemies, I entered the boss room straight away.

A level 95 gigantic wolf with an equally gigantic sword in its mouth awaited me inside the room, which was simply a big circular area with some trees and rocks. As much as the wolf tried to growl and look scary to me, I just found it cute with its dazzling white fur.

The fight was simple as I used the environment to dodge the doggie rushing at me and slashing its sword. It took some time, but I whittled down its health and, without ever getting hit even once, finished it off.

[Leveled up 11 times!]

[New skill obtained - Geyser Blast]

The wolf's body dropped to the ground and soon dissipated entirely as its drops entered my inventory automatically. I had also gained another 11 levels and a new skill for my Water Mage class which I hadn't even gotten to try out at all yet during the boss fight, but I'll have time to experiment with that during the next stage.

Among the drops from the boss was some money… well, alot of money as I had become accustomed to by now and some stat gems which I hadn't seen in a long time. Two strength gems and three dexterity granting me a total of 20 strength points and 30 dexterity points.

Going to the floating door that had appeared in the center of the arena, I place my hand against it.

Clicking on Yes, my surroundings quickly fade away, and I am briefly left in a white void before a new scenery unfolds around me. Once again, I find myself under a night sky with a crescent moon shining above, making me wonder whether there will ever be another dungeon floor that takes place during day time. All but one area so far has been either underground or during the dead of night.

All around me are long stretching plains and farmland with occasional buildings dotting the landscape. In the far distance, I can see what is most likely my goal for this dungeon area, a tall mountain topped by a… pink castle?

While looking at the castle in the distance, the sound of a horse galloping enters my ear. Turning to the direction the sound came from, I spot a singular knight in medieval looking armor riding on top of a horse heading my way.

"Halt!" The knight yells at me while approaching. As so far, the only things in dungeons to talk to me have been those that give quests and not the enemies I opt to play along with and raise my hands to show I'm not hostile.

Within a few seconds, the horse reaches me, and the knight on top pulls on the reins to come to a standstill. "Explain why you are walking around here after midnight without anything to protect yourself. Any bandits that dare come this close to the castle are strong and dangerous enough to kill anyone on sight. Had I not found you here, I fear something terrible could have happened to you!"

Without protection? Oh, I guess to him, it must seem like I am just wearing regular civilian clothing. Taking advantage of the new equipment function in the system, I had decided to turn every piece of my armor invisible, including my spiderman costume while inside the dungeon, as most of what I had just didn't look that great.

"I was just out here to admire the grand palace up on that glorious hill. I really admire the king that lives up there." I confidently bullshit my way through the conversation. Maybe their kingdom is in some sort of peril, and I can get a quest to help?

"King?" The knight questions me, his eyes looking half confused, half suspicious. "There is no king in that castle."

Ah, shit, this kingdom must have a queen, then. "My bad, of course, I meant the queen." I nod and apologize. Surely I am off the hook with this, right?

Contrary to my expectations, the knight now looks even more suspicious and even puts his right hand on the handle of the sword at his waist. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to come to the castle with me. No sudden moves, or I am authorized to cut you down where you stand."

"Ah shit, of course, I meant the prince that is ruling over this glorious kingdom. Forgive me. It's been a long day, uh… farming… yes, farming." I tried one last time, but the guy isn't having any of it.

Now pulling his sword out of its sheath, he points it at me and says much more aggressively. "In the name of the princess. You suspicious person will follow me to the prison cells, or I will cut you down where you stand!"

Of course, it would be a princess… the only option I didn't try!

I shake my head at the knight. Quest be damned, if these knights turn out to be my enemies, then a prison cell smack dab in the midst of enemy territory is the last place I want to end up at.

As he gets more aggressive, I take a big step back to create some distance between us and shoot out webs from both of my hands. One is targeted at his sword, which I pull out of his hand and throw far away to leave him weaponless, and the other sticks to his chest.

While the knight is left slightly shocked by suddenly being unarmed, I yank the one web attached to him and, with slight difficulty, pull him off the horse and make him faceplant on the ground. Left without a rider, the horse runs off in the direction of the castle.

The knight doesn't stay lying on the ground for long as I use the skill Root Strike attached to the ring I'm wearing to push him up into the air. The sharp root deals 5000 damage to him but is expectedly unable to pierce his armor.

While falling back down, I intercept the knight by charging up a Venom Blast that drains a third of my mana but kills the knight in question.

The loot is transferred to my inventory, but I got a pretty bad feeling from that fight… It took me a third of my mana just to kill one enemy here.

All the skills I have gotten from the Spiderman class are strong but a massive drain on my mana. If there were to be a whole squadron of enemies against me, I would have to run away and kite them just to let my mana pool recover.

It hadn't been apparent in the previous dungeon as I primarily dealt with all enemies by sword, but in terms of skills, I am unable to keep up with the damage required to kill a large number of targets. I'll have to hope that Water Mage and perhaps some future classes have some more skills that would be less taxing on my mana.

As time goes on and I gain a large number of skills, it will be clear that I am unable to level them all up sufficiently and incorporate them into my fights in a good way, so I'll end up having to go ahead and pick the ones I like most and leave behind the more useless or unnecessary ones.

For now, though, at least I have a decent stockpile of mana potions to drink whenever I get low.
