41 Consequences

------------------------------

[Name - Aleksei Sytsevich (Rhino)]

[Level - 12]

[HP - 1500 / 1500]

[Description - A man who has fused together with his armor after undergoing several experiments.]

[Affiliation - Kingpin (40%), Self (60%)]

------------------------------

Surprisingly weak, it must be the armor pulling most of the weight here, considering he didn't even as much as slow down when smashing his head through a solid wall.

"So I have to ask. What are you doing here anyway?" I ask Black Cat while watching Rhino yell at and beat up his own men, only making what I'm about to do in a minute easier.

"What do you think a thief is doing at an art museum after closing hours? She gives me an inquisitive look. "Obviously, I'm here to appreciate some fine art."

She turns back to the show at hand, giving Rhino a distant disappointing look. "It was supposed to be a quick job, but this blockhead just had to pick the same day as me for his heist. He isn't even stealing anything valuable, for god's sake! Won't you be a dear and help me out with them?"

"You think I'm going to help you out with your heist?" I ask her. We may have worked together to escape from that Kingpin's base, but it's not like I'm going to turn into a thief…

"No, I'm just asking you to go beat up the big bad guy and throw him in jail. Listen to my request as a normal New York citizen rather than a cunning burglar, ok? After all, it is your fault he is here in the first place."

"How can you blame me for some random dude trying to rob a statue of a half-eaten banana?"

"Eh? You don't know, huh? Did you think you could just start beating up criminals and make the world a better place like that?"

I see her giving me a sly grin as if she has caught me in a trap. It's not like I care about making the world a better place or anything. I was just looking for an excuse to beat people up and gain experience to survive whatever horrific enemy would try to destroy the earth in the future.

Now that I have the dungeon, I would never have to go out to fight criminals again for xp if I wanted to stop, but to be honest, I quite like having my ego inflated by people calling me a hero, so I'll keep doing it just for that.

"Let me give you a short explanation," Black Cat says. "Up until a month ago, the city was nice and quiet sure there was some crime, but it was mostly controlled, normal people rarely got caught up in them, and even if they did, death rates were low."

"This is because practically every criminal, be they random thugs mugging people in alleyways or big criminals like the Rhino and Vulture, followed Kingpin's words to the T. As long as they followed his orders, they were generally safe from any prison sentences as Kingpin would just bribe a few people or pay their bail to get them out, all they had to do was avoid making the ordinary people of the city too mad at them, aka avoid killing and disrupting their daily life."

"Now along comes the newest superhero Spiderman and starts throwing Kingpin's henchmen into prisons as if he has a personal vendetta against the man. Sure the common people love him to death, but for Kingpin, it's a critical problem. His pockets may be deep, but his wealth isn't infinite."

I see where this is going.

"In only a few short weeks, more and more people working for Kingpin start losing confidence in him. Seeing the moment of weakness, the Maggia families, who had been suppressed for years, start rising up and fighting back against their biggest enemy. Even Kingpin's own men are splitting up and starting their own gangs and organizations, just like Rhino over there. The streets are no longer safe for people as the criminal order has fallen apart."

Felicia finishes her story by walking close to me. "You see the problem here, Spidey?"

"I take no responsibility at all."

This is only a good thing for me. More criminals on the streets means more levels and drops for me. Halleluja!

Felicia facepalms but gives a small laugh. "I like that. Still, something tells me your not going to just leave them to their own devices?"

"Of course not. How could a superhero like me just stand by as valuable art is being stolen!"

Felicia grabs my shoulders and turns me towards the sight of the robbery. "Well, go on then. I'll be right behind you."

"Yeah, yeah, just give me a second to get ready," I say, pulling out my Wreath of Thorns and Wooden Ring that I got in the dungeon from the inventory and putting them on.

------------------------------

[Wooden Ring] (Uncommon)

[Durability 250 / 250]

Increases Wisdom by 25.

Allows the use of Root Strike once a day.

------------------------------

The ring I got from the boss comes with a nice increase to my wisdom stat, boosting my mana regen rate as well as a skill that I can use once per day.

------------------------------

[Root Strike - Active] (Level N / A]

A sharp root pierces out of the ground at a designated spot dealing 5000 physical damage.

------------------------------

Felicia watches as I put them on. "What are those… good luck charms? I could use one of those." after a short pause, she realizes something. "Wait, where did you even pull those out from?"

Note: Another chapter tomorrow, I hope. This one is a bit shorter because of the Hololive concert that is going on yesterday and today.

Day 2 of the concert starts in like a few hours, so I'll get to writing after that is over.
