Chapter 68

“The wanderer returns,” Shaun said, stepping aside to let him in. “Did you go for a walk?”

“Yep. I found a park and did some sketching. I didn’t realize it had gotten so late.”

“No problem. I was about to fix supper.”

“I can help, if you want.” Ryan took off the hoodie and hung it on the coat hook, after taking the sketchpad from the pocket, replacing it with the watchcap.

“Sure. I was thinking the bachelor’s special.”

Ryan grinned. “Spaghetti.”

“Got it in one. Can I see?” Shaun pointed to the sketchpad as they walked to the kitchen. After looking through the first few pages, he said, “If I had half your talent…”

“You draw?” Ryan asked in surprise.

Shaun snorted. “You know what a kid’s drawing looks like? I’m one step up from that.” He handed the pad back to Ryan then began gathering together what he needed for the spaghetti sauce. “Here, you slice and dice while I brown the meat,” he said, pointing to the onion and garlic, and the knife, sitting on a cutting board.
