“Sorry, no pants. They’re not essential supplies. Here.” Shaun took off his jacket, helping Ryan put it on. It was definitely large on the slender young man, but at the moment, it didn’t matter. It would keep him warm. “I take it you’re naked all the way down?”

“Very.” Ryan grinned for a second before sobering. “It’s not funny, I know.”

“Not if the bedspread was all you left the house with. Where else do you hurt, besides your ribs, and probably your throat?”

“My ankle. I landed wrong when I hit the ground. I don’t think it’s broken because I walked on it until I got to, well, wherever I am.” He shook his head. “It seemed like forever, then it got to be too much. I collapsed. Pain, partly, and hunger too, I think.”

“I’ve got a couple of energy bars in the car. Hang on. And just so you know, I’m calling for an ambulance, whether you like it or not.”

“He’ll find me,” Ryan said fearfully.
