Max blinked groggily as Syte's notification buzzed through his mind, disrupting the peaceful lull he had been enjoying.
[Primary Quest Available]
Max blinked, still groggy from being ripped out of his dream. He squinted at the quest details that flashed before him, reading it aloud.
"Gain Experience?" he mumbled, half-confused. His eyes skimmed over the more detailed part of the quest, and what he saw made him pause.
He had to be dropped into an apocalypse world—starting from ground zero. No powers, no skills, just his system, and that too at level one. "What's the point of this?" Max muttered in disbelief, frowning as he processed what Syte was suggesting.
The system responded with its typical calmness.
[As the Quest Says: Experience. System has determined that due to your rapid improvement, your practical experience is lacking compared to your power level. To address this, System will now drop you in a world on the verge of apocalypse. There, you must survive and thrive. Only then can you return.]
Max stared blankly at the message, trying to digest the implications. "You mean... I'm too strong for my own good, so now I need to experience what it's like to struggle again?" He scoffed, shaking his head. "Isn't this a little extreme?"
[Extreme measures are required for extreme growth. You will begin the challenge immediately.]
Before Max could even react or argue, the world around him started to warp, his surroundings dissolving into a dark void. The cold realization hit him. He was really going to be thrown into an apocalypse world... with nothing.
"Well, this is just great," Max groaned as the world around him vanished, knowing that he had no choice but to embrace the challenge ahead.
"you could have at least allow one companion with me" Max grumbled, looking around as he kept falling.
[Your Request is Accepted] System replied.
And Before Max could asked, what, suddenly someone lese was falling with him.
"Max, What is this?" Selene looked at him and aksed.
Max eyes lit up seeing her, as he hugged her, and said " Don't worry my love, We are just going to a world that is on the verge of Apocalypse , we have to save it just" he said, as he kissed her.
Selene kissed back as he nodded.
Soon as they were falling suddenly a light opened below them as they fall inside.
"owww" Max grumbled, as he fell his back paining.
"Max, where are our powers, I am back to normal Vampire!" Selene said suddenly, looking at herself.
"I know, this also includes experience gaining, I am also a normal Human now" Max said, as he stood up, and looked around.
"We are in a cave with well lit torch" Max mumbled as he looked around.
"yes" Selene nodded, as he coughed slightly.
"are you alright?" Max asked, coming near her.
Max watched as she collapsed to her knees, her breath ragged. "Yes, it's just... I was neglecting blood drinking and relying on my magic power. But now that I've lost it... it's all catching up to me," she admitted, her voice weak as her body trembled.
Without hesitation, Max removed his shirt, revealing his bare neck. "It's okay. Drink from me," he said firmly, kneeling beside her.
She shook her head, struggling to push herself away. "No, you're also normal now. I can't... It will hurt you," she protested, trying to turn her face away from him, her fangs retracting out of guilt.
Max's smile remained soft but determined. "I'm healthy enough to handle it. A little bite won't do much harm," he reassured her, gently grabbing her by the shoulders and pulling her closer.
Before she could resist any further, Max pressed her face against his neck. Her fangs instinctively lengthened, and she hesitated for a moment, feeling the warmth of his skin. His heartbeat echoed in her ears, quick and steady, full of life.
"I trust you," he whispered.
With a sharp breath, her resistance crumbled, and she sank her fangs into his neck, drawing blood. The moment the warm, rich liquid touched her tongue, her entire body shuddered with relief. It was like an electric jolt of energy coursing through her veins, reigniting her strength.
Max winced slightly but stayed still, holding her close. "See?" he whispered, his voice steady despite the pain. "I told you... it's okay."
Selene nodded as she licked all blood clean, while her saliva regenerated his punctured skin.
[Enter the Cave]
He nodded, his focus shifting back to the cave entrance looming ahead. "Well, here goes nothing," he muttered, stepping forward as he and Selen cautiously entered the dark, damp cave. Both of them held sharpened rocks, their only means of defense in this dangerous world.
"I really don't like this feeling," Max admitted, glancing at Selen walking ahead of him. The reality that she was now stronger than him in this reset state gnawed at him.
Selen turned slightly, her sharp eyes scanning the cave's shadows. "Stay close, Max," she said, her voice more confident now, but Max could sense the unease lurking beneath it.
Max sighed, frustrated by how powerless he felt. I need my strength back, fast, he thought, then mentally asked, "Syte, where's my Newbie Gift? You know, the one you give when I'm thrown into these situations."
[Don't be funny, host. You've already opened your Newbie Gift. Remember?] Syte replied cheekily.
Max groaned inwardly. "So no help this time, huh?" he muttered. He gripped the sharpened rock tighter as they delved deeper into the cave, shadows closing in around them.
"At least I will gain enough Gacha Points to Evolve my race to next level" Max mumbled to himself.
"by the way System, What template I will get?" he asked as he walked ahead.
[Complete The Quest, and You will know] System replied.
Sigh..
Max shook his head as they soon reach a place, there they found a Swirling portal, Max looked at his System and saw its telling him to go inside,
"lest go in" Max said.
"But.."
"Just trust me" Max said cutting her off, as they both entered inside.
