Chapter 14 - Improving Stats

Liliana stood there and just watch the man slowly bleeding out until he finally died, she felt nothing watching this, she didn't even feel the slightest hint of guilt or regret from her actions— yes her actions.

When the man was pointing the gun at her she had decided against allowing him to shoot her right here for multiple reasons.

The main two being she didn't know how she would be left after getting shot— and she didn't want to be in an unknown state around a man she didn't know nor trust.

She could always take the gun from him and shot herself later to test it out.

The second was the fact that the gun would be very loud— much louder than the shattering of the glass. That would attract the attention of all the people nearby and cause a hassle for her.

She needed to stay off the radar for now— avoid Shield— and build her power.

The only reason the man heard the glass shattering was because he lived here, something she didn't expect.

So while the man was distracted with her, she ordered one of her hunters to kill him quickly from behind— piercing the man in the heart with its stinger and killing him on the spot.

It was easy since they were always with her— underground.

She ordered them to eat the body of the man, but to leave the blood, that way when the store was found in the morning they would assume someone broke in, was caught and killed the man before fleeing with the body to cover it up.

At least she hoped— she didn't have time to come up with a better plan as something the man had said was playing in her mind.

'Mutants, he definitely said mutants.'

She thought to herself as she went over the possibility of mutants existing alongside the others— that would mean this wasn't the MCU but some world that had both.

She wasn't mad— she wasn't afraid— she was actually very happy.

Mutant abilities were all genetic, and if she ate them she would gain their ability— this was perfect for her.

A smile decorated her face as her mimics finished eating the body, giving her the mass and the DNA the body had stored in it— so she decided to check her status.

(If I'm forgetting anything please comment, I'm kinda stupid.)

As she glanced through her status page, she realized that she had gained 300 mass from eating a normal old man— one that wasn't even that big, to begin with.

That was a lot for something she could do casually, and it was very tempting to just eat everyone in town in order to gain a ton of mass— but that would draw way too much attention to her.

No, she had other things to do first. She decided to use the points she had and finally increase some of her stats.

She could use mass to increase her stats, but as she grew the amount needed to increase them would keep raising as well— that was why it was easy to get strong in the beginning but grew harder the stronger they got for her species.

"Hmmm~"

She hummed to herself as she walked out of the store window, not paying attention too much, instead she thought about what to pour her stats on.

She decided to focus on her agility, durability, and mentality for now. As that would be very important for her species, being able to move quickly and take a lot of damage, while also being able to expand her hive massively.

With that in mind, she poured all her points into these stats, until eventually, it changed.

Energy: 20

Strength: 15

Durability: 30

Agility: 45

Mental: 60

Her new stats weren't bad at all, and she could feel how the mass was changing her body— how it worked.

It was like a type of energy flowing through her entire body and enhancing certain parts of her body— changing those parts to be able to do what she wanted them to do.

She could feel her mental capabilities expand even further— her connection with her entire hive growing even clearer, even the ones that were in the forest.

She could control them from all the way here— and that's exactly what she did. Ordering them to dig a tunnel to the outside of the town.
