Chapter 25

Diya hesitated. "You're married, so it's not a problem to share a bed. Right, sister-in-law?" Veer asked her.

Ajay was still confused by what Veer's trying to do. 'Since when did the guest room transform into a storage room? I cleaned it just yesterday.'. Karl gave Ajay a slight nudge and whispered in his ear, "Let him take care of this. He's doing this for your own good.".

Ajay's confused look, Karl's knowing look, and Veer's 'please say yes' look was on full display for Diya to see and she didn't miss it. 'So it was a lie.'. "Yes, there is a problem.". She saw how Veer and Karl's face changed to disappointment after that.

She put on a sad face and said, "Where should we place my bookshelf? It is quite big and I need it.". Veer was very quick to respond that he didn't think it through. "Oh. It's not a problem at all. We can place it in the guest room as it's empty or in the study room.".

"How is the guest room empty? Isn't it being used as a storage room?". Diya saw Veer's eyes widening and tried her best to maintain the confused face. Karl was frustrated. 'This idiot can't even lie properly.'.

Seeing him troubled, Diya smiled at him and said, "It's fine to be forgetful sometimes. Don't worry, we can place it in the study room and I'll stay in this room. We're married after all." She smiled at them and went back to the movers to tell them to bring her things in.

Veer was amused by her reply and turned to Ajay, smiling, "She's smart. I like her- as a sister-in-law, of course. Don't glare at me!". Ajay ignored him and went after Diya. He didn't want them to know that he was secretly happy with sharing a bed with her. Should he thank Veer and Karl?

The moving-in was fully settled that evening. After dinner, Diya was tired and planned to go to bed early. She was doing her night routine when Ajay walked in. "Sorry for this morning. They act like children most of the time.".

Diya smiled at him and shook her head, "No need to apologize. I found them very cute.". When she turned around to look at him, he was staring at her with an unreadable expression. "Did I say something wrong?".

"No, it's nothing. Rest well and goodnight." Ajay left the room after saying that; leaving Diya to wonder what she did wrong.

Karl saw Ajay on the stairs; coming down. "Did sister-in-law say anything about us?". Hearing that, Veer also turned to Ajay; eagerly waiting for his answer. Ajay glared at them; went inside his study and shut the door without a word.

"What made him upset now?" Karl shrugged his shoulder at Veer's question and went back to watch TV.

The next morning, Diya woke up to find the other side of the bed empty. 'Why didn't he sleep here? Could it be? Then he should've said something yesterday.'. She wondered about it for a while and decided to just ask him later.

She took a bath and got ready for the day. She already missed two days of school and had asked Mrs. Kala for help in replacing her. She would have a lot to deal with once she's there because of Rowan's case.
