30 I'm a guest

The sound of Lijuan's phone ringing roused her from sleep. Her head was seriously banging, she was feeling lightheaded and both the sound of her ringing phone and the light from the screen was affecting her seriously.

She groaned as she tried to reach for her phone and when she saw the call was from her mother, she frowned, wondering why her mother was calling her when she could have simply walked into the room.

Her eyes fluttered fully open and then something seemed to register in her head. That wasn't her bed!

She quickly looked around and groaned again when a splitting headache gripped her.

The room was unfamiliar also. It wasn't her room, neither was it Shan's but luckily, Shan was lying next to her so she had nothing to fear.

Her phone began to ring again with a call from her mother and she gasped this time. She quickly checked the time and it was almost 8 am.

"Good morning Mother!" She greeted her mother nervously in a very low voice.

"You didn't return last night?" Mother Mei asked quietly.

"I'm sorry mother, I'll be at home soon." Lijuan said, not wanting her mother to know she didn't even know where she was at the moment.

"Okay, I'll just have to find a way to explain your absence during breakfast. I hope you didn't do anything inappropriate? Are you with Shan?" Mother Mei asked.

"I promise I didn't do anything. Shan is here. She is asleep." Lijuan said as she quickly looked around to make sure she hadn't taken anything.

"Alright then. I'll be waiting for you." Mother Mei said before hanging up the call.

'Where are we?' Lijuan wondered as she stood up to look around the room. She was very thirsty and wanted a glass of water at least.

She glanced at Shan who was still snoring beside her, maybe Shan had brought her here, she decided and quietly tiptoed out of the room to check the house.

She winced Immediately she stepped out of the room. The light in the passage was too bright and getting into her eyes. She also noticed the house was structured like her own. Was it possible she was in their estate? Whose house was this?

A memory of last night suddenly flashed in her head and she remembered seeing Yun last night.

Oh no! She couldn't possibly be in Yun's house, was she?

Oh God! she really just wanted to die right now. What happened? How had she gotten here? What the hell had she done?

"I see you're up." Yun said from behind her making her nearly jump out of her skin.

"You scared twenty years of my life off me! Where did you come out from?" She asked as she placed her hands on her thumping chest. So she really did pass the night at his home.

"I guess you didn't hear me turn the knob." Yun said in the way of an apology but with an amused expression on his face as he pointed to his room's door.

He had heard the guest room's door open and had decided to check who it was. He hadn't been surprised to see Lijuan but he had been curious to know why she was tiptoeing around his house.

"I... slept here?" She asked him.

Yun have her a funny look as he answered, "Didn't you just wake up from a bed and walked down here?"

"Oh God! You.... didn't by chance..." She let the words trail off and looked down to check what she was wearing. Her clothes from the previous night was complete.

Yun got her message and cleared his throat awkwardly. "Stop thinking nonsense. Did you see me beside you when you woke up?"

Lijuan looked him up and down. He wasn't that kind of person so she didn't dwell much on that.

"My throat feels very dry. I'm parched and just wanted to get a glass of water." Lijuan explained.

"Oh! I see." Yun said with a nod but didn't make any attempt to move from the wall where he was leaning on lazily.

"So?" Lijuan asked nervously.

"So what?" Yun asked.

"I'm a guest. It's your home. I need water." Lijuan said even though she was still trying to remember all that had transpired the previous night.

"Okay, let's go get you water and after that you can wake your friend so I drop you off. I need to go to work."

"Drop me off? No no no... I have to at least wait till the others leave for work before I can leave.. please... my father is going to kill me if he sees you dropping me off and misunderstands." She said while giving him a pleading look.

Yun sighed deeply before going back into his room to get a glass of water from his water dispenser before walking towards her lazily.

Was there ever a time he wasn't wearing his suit? Never had she seen him wearing something other than a suit.

He handed her a glass of water and waited for her to drink up.

"Fine. But I'll still have to leave for work and my younger brother would drop you and your friend off."

"There is another man in this house?" Lijuan whispered as she looked around.

Of course there was! It was the devil who had taunted him the entire night for having called her his woman.

"I don't think you remember much about last night but I'm just going to say this one more time... I'm sorry about what I said even though I know you misunderstood me. I didn't mean to say I did anything out of pity." Yun finished before turning to walk away.

Lijuan smiled when she heard his apology.

"I'm sorry I embarrassed you publicly...." She said stopping Yun from walking away.

"It wasn't called for. And even though I don't remember how I got to be in your apartment, I'm grateful you looked out for me and my bestfriend last night." Lijuan said without looking at him.

Yun simply nodded before walking away to the kitchen where a nice aroma was coming from. He was really glad he had finally gotten that out of the way, now all he had to do left was wait for her to return his pen so she would get out of his life for good.

She had really been cute the previous night, she had talked about herself non-stop and had told him how wonderful she thought she was... and her best friend Shan had supported all her statements passionately.

He almost laughed as he remembered how Jinhai had been so taken in by Shan. And when Shan had drifted off to sleep he had asked Lijuan if he was to take them to her house or Shan's place, but Lijuan had drunkenly told him her family was going to jump on her if she went home like that and begged to sleep inside his car instead and before he could ask or say anything else, she drifted off to sleep. Jinhai had pleaded with him to allow the girls sleep over at their house instead.

He knew his mother would likely have a stroke, pass out or go into coma if she heard Lijuan had passed the night at his home.

"What are you doing?" Yun asked in surprise when he saw Jinhai arranging breakfast on the table.

"Setting the table for breakfast since you don't understand what you're seeing." Jinhai said with a cheerful smile.

Yun couldn't believe his eyes, He never knew Jinhai had any cooking skills and Jinhai wasn't one to wake up so early in the morning.. so what was going on?

"You prepared this?" Yun asked moving closer to check it out.

"No you did." Jinhai said sarcastically and hit Yun's hand when he tried reaching into one of the dishes.

"What has gotten into you this morning? Is it because there are ladies in the house?" Yun asked curiously.

"I'm nothing like you... I'm a very romantic gentleman and I want to serve Shan breakfast in bed... I made extra for your woman in case you want to impress her too." Jinhai said with a wink.

"Stop calling her my woman."

"It was you who announced publicly that she was."

"What was I supposed to say in that situation? If I hadn't said that, wouldn't he have also thought I wanted to take advantage of her also?"

Jinhai just looked at him with a smile as he explained. "You know you could have said she was your younger sister or cousin or friend or even bodyguard.." He said as he whistled away happily setting everything on a tray.

Yun thought it was pointless having an argument with him.

"Have you ever prepared breakfast for me or for us?" Yun asked accusingly.

"Why should I? I'm not interested in you." Jinhai said before setting the tray on one hand and strolling happily towards the guest room.
