Dirty tricks like that should not be played on his daughter because it was insulting to not just her but to his entire family, especially in a place like this.

Lijuan saw how the ever confident Jenny looked like a chicken now. All her confidence had disappeared, leaving a very vulnerable girl. 

She avoided everyone's gaze and looked down. No one could see her hands since it was under the table but with how tensed her muscles looked, they guessed she was clenching her fists like her life depended on it.
