Confused Juan

Mother Mei was home alone since everyone else had gone gone out. She sat inside her empty house dejectedly, not knowing what to do.

She had been down the whole day since she didn't know how to tell Lijuan who had been very hopeful that something good would come out of her discussion with her husband.

After dinner the previous evening, she had been about to sleep when she received the text from Lijuan reminding her to talk to her father on her behalf so she had straightened up to look at him. 

He was sitting on the bed with his back resting on the headboard, his glasses on and the bedside lamp beside him was on as he went through the papers. 

He noticed her staring so he turned to look at her. "Why are you staring at me in that manner? Is there something you want?" He asked before looking back at his paper.

"Let's talk." Mother Mei said in a serious tone which made him put down his paper before turning to give her his attention.
