You Lost Me

Roman collapsed to his knees, losing all strength to stand when he saw Penny like that. No. No! This couldn't be happening right now!

But it was. She was undeniably the one lying there in the ICU in a coma with imminent brain death. She was never going to wake up again. The only reason they hadn't done anything was because they couldn't get a hold of her family yet. 

Her family. They had barely lost someone less than a year ago and now…

He had to do something. At the very least, he had to get a hold of Percy and tell him what happened but he couldn't move. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't even cry; the shock was too much. His brain was working but all he could do was stare in horror. 

This was his fault. White Cross Hospital was nowhere near where Penny lived. If the ambulance brought her here, it meant she got into the accident not long after she dropped him off. If she hadn't done that, she would be at work right now like any other Monday.
