Something Seemed Different

Roman ended up responding 'yeah' to Penny's message before sending a second one. 'Your family seems like a lot of fun'

Her reply was immediate. 'They are. I'm lucky to have them'

He wasn't sure what to say to that. He agreed that she was lucky to have a family she was close with but he couldn't exactly bring up his own family without sounding like a total downer. That was the last thing he wanted. 

The conversation ended up dying after that because he couldn't come up with anything to say and he cursed his stupidity when he went to get ready for bed. Why couldn't he have come up with a reply for that? Now if he wanted to talk to her, he would have to find another way to initiate a conversation.
