Chapter 21 - Moving In

As the door opened and the old man stepped into the room— her eyes stared at him as she was awaiting his next words eagerly.

This was both an act and not at the same time.

She naturally needed him to think of her as a sweet and innocent child— but she also had to set up an outline for her personality at Hogwarts.

Why she had to do this was simple.

When she is attending Hogwarts, she will be stuck attending it for years, with herself even having to live there, which would greatly limit her interactions.

If this was the case she would naturally have to interact with the other children there, and while she didn't outright like the idea of putting up with a bunch of 11-year-old kids— especially the spoiled ones— she had to deal with it.

And if she dealt with it in such a way that it drastically differed from her personality shown, it would obviously be suspicious to the people keeping their eyes on her.

To do that she had to set up her personality beforehand— slowly.

Her idea for this personality would be a sweet yet distant girl that was interested in knowledge and magic.

This way, they wouldn't be suspicious of her being related to any of the Death Eater antics that would happen at the school because of her sweet persona.

And the distant part would allow her to keep a certain level of coldness towards people that she didn't want to interact with— without it seeming weird.

The interest in knowledge and magic just came naturally because she really was interested in such things— and if she acted as such openly it would be a lot easier to gain access to them.

So, that's how she planned to act to everyone officially. Behind the scenes, however, she had other plans.

She knew that being nice wouldn't get her anywhere far in life, especially with the things she intended to do. So she had no intentions of only being nice.

Not to mention she was never a nice person, to begin with.

Now she wouldn't call herself evil, but she was definitely selfish, even before coming to this world. This world, and her death, only made that aspect more prominent.

She had full intention of doing whatever she want, and anyone that tried to stop her was just another thing in her way.

"Are you ready to move? A fresh new start as some would call it."

Said Albus as he looked at her— breaking her out of her thoughts, only for her to look back up at him.

She didn't trust him— just like everyone else in the Potter fandom she was sure he was always planning something.

And she quite disliked the actions he took in the movies, but she also knew that at this very moment, the man before her was intending to help her from the look in his eyes alone.

A sparkle of light— a glimmer of hope even— that she would turn out different from how her father turned out.

That he could change how she turned out.

'Interesting.'

She thought to herself— sure that the reason he was acting like this was out of guilt.

He most likely felt guilty because he failed to lead Voldemort down the right path when he was young— and failed to stop him before his actions took the lives of countless innocents.

But that would be useful to her.

"Yes, I'm ready. I don't have anything to prepare anyways."

She replied as she stood up from her bed— her long hair dragging behind her to the point that it even caught Albus's attention.

He had, after all, never seen it before unlike the workers here.

But he didn't pay much attention to it and instead spoke.

"Then why don't I show you your new home? This may be a bit disorienting at first, but don't worry, you'll get used to it."

She was confused by what he meant until he acted.

Taking out his wand from his sleeves and waving it in the air, chanting a word she couldn't quite hear before the space around them warped— and they vanished.

One second they were inside the room in the building— the next they were outside what seemed like a small cottage house in the countryside.

The second they appeared there however a wave of nausea overtook the girl, and she felt like she was about to throw up, yet she didn't.

It was quite disorienting as she stumbled to stay standing up straight properly but powered through it thanks to her strong willpower.

"Impressive— most people would collapse after their first time like that."

Said Albus in a praising tone, making her realize he most likely did it on purpose to test her.

Or maybe she was just overthinking it— and he wasn't doing that.

Her mind was just constantly running scenarios about things that could endanger her, and due to all the fan theories about Albus, she had a hard time seeing him as anything but suspicious.

Ignoring his commentary, however, she looked at the small cottage house before her as she tried to regain her bearings. And she had to admit, it looked lovely.

It looked similar to how you would expect an elven house to look, built around a lush forest of trees and greenery of all sorts. With the house itself being a simple flat building that looked like it was built into the ground like a hobbit hole.

White in color with green vines and colorful flowers growing all over it, it beautifully complimented the scenery, and she couldn't help but have expectations as to how the inside would look.

One thing she noticed while looking around was the fact that it was the only house she could see for miles— with nothing but either plains or forestry around her in all directions.

Obviously this was a location built with it being secretive in mind, and she knew that she was just leaving one prison for another.

But she had no intentions of being limited by her warden, since this prison allowed her to go outside— a freedom she didn't have before.

"Well let's not just stand around, come on inside."

Said Albus as he took steps towards the front door, motioning for the girl to follow along with him.
