Aemond was angry at everything after the incident,but he got several names from Broken Prince to Disgraced Prince.

But this was not all Otto was now having a hard time keeping any alliance he had since,he had promised betrothal to the Tully family's eldest daughter. But with Aemond unable to have children,things fell on Aegon who was now hard time with his mother and grandfather forcing him to different lessons about being a perfect prince. This made Aegon more rebellious the boy went far as to walk around the castle completely naked in defiance.

Another problem was Alicent was showing signs of being unhinged and that was obvious to many,also Viserys was growing weaker and weaker as time passed and he had shown signs of leprosy,it was evident that he wouldn't live for more than a decade.

His death was fixed and couldn't be changed on the orders of Valar,it was impossible to save him.

Eragon was the one who broke the bad news to Rhaenyra,who cried even though she now had a strained relationship with her father,she still cared about him.

As Eragon comforting her said, "We will make sure to give him the best care possible, Don't worry after death is just the beginning."

Rhaenyra nodded and basked in her husband's comfort, she knew when she chose to be Eragon's wife she would have to watch her parents die of old age.

Eragon smiled and replied, "Yes,that would work."

They made their way to the Pool of Life, and finally reached the place. It was open and airy and there it was the Pool of Life,it was like a gently roiling cauldron, the font bubbled and occasionally shot up a spray of pale blue mist; it was a pool of magical energy so powerful that didn't even like to think about it.

Rhaenyra took out a vial and took some water from the pool,this water would make the disease from worsening. But death was still imminent and the only way to change that was to keep giving him this,which was against the orders Mandos gave.

Time for Aegon to take the test,which was extended a lot by Otto and Alicent over the years.It was something many had already foreseen, Aegon proved to have average at the best,but the problem was his decision-making skills were disastrous and no one wanted a king who didn't have a vision.
