13. There is only one Alpha!

Regina cursed her father after being kicked in the stomach, sending her rolling back. Thanks to werewolves having increased resistance to magic, the effect of the potion that caused her to act without thinking had worn off.

Regina wasn't an idiot unlike what her previous battle had indicated. She had more or less realized her father had planned this, and she had seen the look on her father's face multiple times. The look he gave his prey while he played with them, after which he killed them. And the fact that his father was doing that meant... he was setting an example for her brother. Just like he had done for her by killing her mother.

She was the only one her brother looked up to, the only one who cared for him, and it would seem her actions did not sit well with her father... Father, oh how she hated the fact that she had to call him that.

Regina gritted her teeth and charged forward, knowing full well she couldn't do much. Her every swipe was avoided with greater speed, her every bite was caught, and her charge was overpowered. She started getting tired and injured due to the constant hits her father landed on her with his claws, which he had boasted were enhanced thanks to the dark lord, and just as she faltered, her father backhanded her head, and she went rolling backward.

Regina felt as if she had no strength left and blood dripped from her head.

"Look at the foolish child. Challenging my position. I have led our pack for decades, increased its strength, and the entire world feared our power." He spoke loudly for all to hear. The wolves that had sided with Regina knew they were not going to have an easy life in the pack anymore if they were even left alive.

"Hati, my son." Fenrir turned to his son and spoke. Hati trembled hearing his name and looked towards his father. He wanted to run, run towards his sister, but he couldn't move due to fear. "Let this be a lesson. As the leader of our pack, we need to ensure its safety and strength. So, we need to deal with the problems that can divide it as soon as possible... no matter how personal." Fenrir grinned and walked towards his daughter.

Fenrir had always loathed getting a daughter. He wanted a strong alpha as a son, not a breeding machine. He always toyed with her, breaking every little thing she ever cared about, and he enjoyed this feeling. 'No wonder the dark lord tortured his prey before killing them' he thought. But he finally got a chance to get some use out of her, when he finally had a son. He would imprint the scene of his sister's death to ensure the boy doesn't get any ideas and slowly groom him to be like him. An alpha werewolf.

Regina heard everything and looked at her brother. She had failed him. She had failed to protect him. And now her father was going to groom him how he pleases. A tear fell from her eye, as she looked at her father nearing her. She knew her life was hopeless, yet she tried to fight with everything she had, but,... in the end, she is in the same position as her mother. All she could do was hope, hope for something to happen which would save her brother and let him have a decent life.

'... Is this the end you want?' Regina heard a voice in her head. She instinctively looked up and saw a figure in complete black armor, standing behind her father, towering over him.

'Do you accept this to be your end? Was your will this shallow?' She heard the being speak, his eyes felt like they were judging her.

'... What else can I do? I don't have the power to do anything' She thought, but couldn't speak.

'Those with a high resolve don't falter even in the face of death herself. Their eyes burn with the challenge to prove to their opponents that even if they killed them, they would never break their resolve... While your eyes show acceptance. As if you always accepted this to be your end' The being spoke.

'... What do you know? What do you know of the pain I had to endure? The hopelessness I felt every day of my life under him. The loss I felt on seeing my mother being killed. WHAT DO YOU KNOW?' She yelled in her mind.

'I know nothing.' That being said, 'But I can make my judgment based on what I'm seeing. So Regina Greyback, is the fire inside you so feeble that you gave up the moment you started your fight, or does it still burn?' She heard him ask. Did she accept this to be her end? No, she would not. She would not let her father have the satisfaction of breaking her.

Fenrir had reached his daughter and used her hair to pull up her head, expecting her to be broken, but he was surprised to see her eyes burning in rage as she looked at him. HIM. Fenrir felt challenged and slammed her head into the ground. He heard her yell in pain, but when he looked again, her eyes were still looking at him in defiance.

"You lost girl. There is nothing you can do. Die knowing you were a stepping stone for your brother." He grunted, but her eyes remained the same, irritating him.

'Hmm, while only a small amount, you do have the fire.' She heard the being speak, as he stood above his father. 'Be that as it may, you indeed lack the power to fight back.'The being said. 'But, that can be resolved.' Regina heard the being say, as a purple fireball appeared in his palm.

'I am the Monarch of Shadows, the king of the Shadow realm. We of the shadows are feared by all who live, we are the monsters that all fear. Tell me Regina Greyback, do you want this power, even if you become a monster like us?' The being said, and she saw many eyes looking at her through the cloak.

'I don't want to be like my father' She responded. She had heard her father boast of killing people and feeling glee at hearing them call him a monster.

'A monster is a being who lives according to his desires, unhinged by the laws of the society. One who everyone fights to either kill or get in control. Do you think you have a resolve to face the world by having the freedom to decide what you want?' She heard him say.

Fenrir raised his hand as his claws elongated, preparing to kill her. Regina looked at this and felt her life flash before her eyes. Memories of her mother, the life after her death, her father's tyranny, her brother's birth, the time she spent raising him, gathering the pressed werewolves of her father's pack. She... didn't want to die like this. She didn't want to give up now.

Regina looked at the being of Shadows. She felt due to her instinct that by taking this power, she would be his subordinate, the cost for having the power to turn the tables... But right now, she wanted to turn the tables, and this was her only option.

'I accept.'

Just as Fenrir's claws reached her, a force erupted from her body, throwing him away from her. He tumbled once but managed to land on his limbs the next time. He looked up and saw Regina enveloped in purple flames, floating, and releasing a pressing force on everything around her, pushing them away.

The flames landed and disappeared, showing Regina standing there with closed eyes. Everyone looked at her with caution, and she slowly opened her eyes, now purple in color. He also noticed she was in human form, yet she had big wolf ears on her head and a fluffy tail.

"Fenrir Greyback." He heard her say his name, and Fenrir felt a feeling bubble in his chest. A feeling he thought he had sealed away long ago. "... Your time has come."

For the first time in a long while,... he felt fear. His instincts warned him, but he couldn't react to the speed as Regina closed in on him and caught his head in her hand. She lifted him and slammed him into the ground, cracking it like a crater. All wolves there had their jaw dropped in surprise at the scene. The girl who was on death's door was now jumping around, making craters with each step.

Meanwhile, Regina frowned as she found she lacked control over her strength. If her father wasn't enhanced by whatever the Dark lord did, he wouldn't be alive after the hit.

Fenrir slowly stood up, his head ringing and the pain from having his neck almost broken overwhelming him. "Y-you.." He muttered, glaring at Regina, but his eyes contained traces of fear.

"Your actions have caused many to lose their lives. The entire world fears and hate Werewolves due to your actions. And you were going to continue this again. I refuse to stay under someone like you." Regina roared in anger, as people felt pressured by her aura.

Regina moved forward, but suddenly Fenrir's loyal supporters attacked her together, hoping to distract her. Regina became a blur in their eyes, and the next moment, they were launched out of the ring and landed on the ground with their bodies folded unnaturally.

Such a show of strength scared all, while Hati now looked at her sister with stars in his eyes. "Does anyone else wish to come forward?" She announced, looking at them with a judging gaze. She felt someone slam into her from behind, but she had sensed it beforehand and let it happen.

Fenrir felt he slammed into an immovable wall, causing him pain due to the impact. Fenrir looked up and saw Regina looking back, staring at him with cold eyes, causing all his hair to stand.

He tried to move, but Regina caught his hand and landed a kick on his shoulder, breaking his bones. Fenrir howled in pain due to the hit. The dark lord had enhanced him with various potions and enhancements, like using a runic array to harden his bones, yet she broke them like nothing.

Regina started raining down hits on him, each hit breaking him down bone by bone, and in the end, he became a broken mess, and he collapsed in a pool of blood. He looked with fear, trying to mutter something to stop her, but was unable to do so. Regina looked at the source of the torment she had faced her entire life, lifted her foot, and brought it down, ending his pathetic life.
