Ch.6: Home.

A week had passed and Clay was officially discharged from the hospital.

Free to go home now, the doctors simply warned him to take it easy and that he'll have to do weekly checkups for the next few months.

That didn't bother Clay that much, not once thinking they could find out about his power.

Clay was in his own thoughts right about now.

He died, spoke to God, came back to life, and now, his relationship with his folks are going great.

He wasn't that focused on his powers, but more on spending time with his family and such.

Getting out the vehicle, a 2021 Black Rouge Sport with Gold as a secondary color, he stared at the familiar, yet unfamiliar house.

'Home..'

A nostalgic feeling swelled up inside of him.

'Feels good to be home..'

He closed the car door behind himself as well as Heather closing the passenger side door. Kazemi got out of the car, closed the door, then opened up Eve's door and took her out of her booster seat, eventually closing her door.

"I'm surprised you guys didn't move into something smaller.." Clay said aloud as he put his hands into his pockets.

"Well, we were going to, but decided not to. We thought you might've been scared to come home and see that, well, it wasn't exactly home and some weird, unfamiliar environment. That's fine with you, right?"

"Yeah, of course. Thank you.."

Heather smiled and placed her hand on his head. "And besides, you've spent your entire life in this house. I couldn't take that away from you.."

She went ahead and down the brick trail which was connected from the front door to the drive way and also to the sidewalk.

"Son, this house isn't the same without you. Quiet, I mean.." His father approached from the side and said.

"Though you always seem gloomy, you somehow found a way to cheer us up after long days at work. We never said it before, but we really appreciate that, y'know?"

He then handed Eve over to him, seeing as she kept grabbing air towards him. "Come on, let's go inside. It's hot and the neighbors tend to snoop a lot nowadays.."

Clay subconsciously nodded and followed close behind his father. 'I uhm...I never knew I cheered them up. I'd just talk about school and stuff. Never knew that was important to them at all...'

Knowing that he somewhat helped brighten up their moods after a long days work was nice. It made him smile from the fact and noticing this, Eve giggled and clapped.

Heather unlocked the front door and went inside. Kazemi then went in and Clay followed.

"Well, welcome home, son.." His father said, taking off his trench coat and placing it on the coat hanger while Heather threw the keys into a bowl on a nearby table.

"Home.."

He started walking down a very short hallway which then stopped to reveal the living room/kitchen area.

Straight ahead on the back 'Wall' was nothing but glass. Like a huge window essentially. It provided a view of the great outdoors as well as a lake.

On the left wall, a huge flat screen TV, maybe 87 inches or so. Below the mounted TV was a long shelf that stuck out from the wall, floating just above the floor. There were things like the cable box on it as well as CD's and other things.

On the right side of the white room, an L shaped couch and coffee table laid. There was also a reclining chair near the end of the couch that was kinda dented.

"Nothing really changed, huh? Glad you guys kept it this way.."

Clay walked over and laid down on the couch. He remembers it feeling softer than his bed and he'd often sleep down here on it, more than he actually sleep in his room.

'Though, I'd somethings get scared because I'll think that someone's starring at me through the huge glass wall. Still haven't passed that phase yet..'

"Clay, honey. What do you want for dinner? It can be anything you like, okay?"

With Eve resting on his chest, he barely managed to lay up and say,

"YOU'RE cooking? Yeah, okay..."

If there was one thing his mom wasn't good at, cooking takes first place in Clay's book. She just couldn't do it.

She couldn't make food edible nor satisfying to look at. Kazemi had to step up and learn to cook, but even when he did, the food barely tasted better than his mother's.

Edible though so it was something.

"Ahem! I'll have you know that I've been practicing over these last few years. Trust me when I say that I've gotten better. Tell em' dear!"

They all looked at Kazemi who gulped and nodded. They were his only actions and so it pissed Heather off, leading her to throw a spatula at him and forcing words out from his mouth.

"It's...good, yeah, very delicious. Makes you wants seconds every time..."

He didn't sound convincing at all, but Clay didn't pry any deeper into it. Instead, he began thinking about what he wanted his first meal back at home to be.

'Well, over these last few days, I've made a shocking discovery.

Being Self-Sustained.

I can go a few days without food or water. (Well, anyone can, but I won't be starving myself.)

Man, I really need to test my powers out more. I feel like-, No, I know I haven't discovered all my abilities yet..'

He found out he was Self Sustained by...just not being hungry or thirsty at all. Every time he was offered food or drink, he'd just deny it, saying, 'I don't need it, thanks.'

The doctors obviously thought something must've been wrong with him, but in the end, just shrugged it off as a side effect of the coma.

Strange.

"Uh,...how about red beans and rice?"

Clay said while getting up. Though he wasn't exactly hungry, he assumed that the more he did eat or drink, the longer he could go without it. A weird assumption, yeah, but hey, it's worth the test.

"Clay, you really are my son. I was in the mood for that as well. How 'bout it dear?"

She just simply smiled and put her apron on. "You got it! That's my expertise!" She also put on this bandana to which his father said in a whisper,

"Don't think nothing much of it. Heck, I'm pretty sure she cooks better with it on, so...

Clay nodded then walked over to a crib near the window. He sat Eve in it and laid her down. She became a little tipsy, yawning and reaching out for Clay's departing hand. She managed to grab it and before dosing off, decided to use it as a makeshift pillow.

"My room. Is it still the same or..?"

Clay didn't mind Eve using his arm as a pillow rest since he's energized at all times like a battery. Though, he needed to release some urges because they were starting to swell up.

"It's the same. We clean it occasionally, but we never made changes to it. Well, besides adding a door that leads to Eve's room, but that's about it."

He nodded with approval, not surprised by the fact that they installed a whole new door in his room.

'My family...we're sorta rich. I could have most things by just asking for it, but I like to do things on my own and so I rarely asked them for stuff.'

"A door that connects with Eve's room is fine. You guys just better not have moved my collections.."

Heather looked over, gave a frown, then looked back. His dad covered a chuckle with a cough, but it slightly escaped.

"Of-Of course not. That's a mans personal collection. We wouldn't dare touch it.."

Oh, and by collection, they just meant Clay's transformer toys. They were really valuable to Clay and with the wrong handalage, could be easily broken.

"Ok. Well, uhm, call me down when the foods done. In the mean time, I'm gonna go redecorate my room.."

He circled his arm around Eve's body, easily carrying Eve out her crib. Again, his father complimented his strength of being able to carry a human child on one hand like that and without support of the rest of his body weight.

"Okay, dear. Just be careful, alright?"

Clay pulled the sleeping Eve into his chest and nodded. His father grabbed the remote, his mother started washing rice and Clay, looking back on this as he made his way towards the stairs, smirked and thought,

'The first time in a while that I've seen them so relaxed. I guess that me 'dying' was a huge eye opener for not only me, but for them as well.

But yeah, it's nice to see them like this. Just wonder how long it's gonna last for though..'

He continued walking, now going up the stairs and making his way towards his room.
