Chapter 1: PR – Lab 1

Even after the remarkable night that she received, she couldn't get wrapped her head away from the meaningful kiss that she received from a mate she wouldn't have thought would ever find. But there are a lot of cases that need to stay hidden for the safety of the person she gets couldn't get away from; her mate – her human mate to be exact. Here's the story of a pureblooded vampire who came from one of the powerful knights through generation in the kingdom of Ciel Nocturne.

Morning – 4:30

My alarm clock kept on alarming till my hand landed on it but to be precise; I smashed it since I don't want to be disturbed from asleep. It's really rare for a vampire to take sleep because usually when they say sleep; it's either hibernating or never come back alive.

"Great. It's already four-thirty and I didn't have enough sleep." I start yawning as I got up from my king-sized bed lazily.

As I got up, I am not wearing anything since I always slept like that before I did some stretching then got my blood wine that's sitting over my coffee table next to the reading nook beside my balcony window. I always start my morning with a sip from my blood wine before heading to my bathroom that's located across the left side of my bed edge. Anyway, inside the bathroom, it was a merged room of a walking closet and a bathroom. The bathroom was located on the left side of the door and it has a proper flow of toilet, shower, tub, and two vanities sinks which I didn't take much time taking a quick shower. Even I was a bit soaking, I headed to the right was my big walking closet to get neat clothing. I dried my slim-fit body with pale white skin tone before wearing anything that my hand managed to grab. Meaning, I wear my pair of black underwear then dark grey shaper slacks for my bottom, and pair of black ankle boots to add more height from my 5'6. Then for my top clothing, I wore my black turtle neck shirt that real complemented my pale white skin tone. When I was done wearing clean and neat clothing, I went to my vanity to brush my wavy and semi-long dark crimson red hair which made my oval face shape stood out more. Speaking of my face, I didn't put on any make-up to make my fair nose, pair of blue-grey eyes underneath my black eyeglasses, or my sexy red lips to give more attraction than I already could since I am a pure-blooded noble vampire.

"Milady, breakfast is ready." A maid of mine knocked over my bedroom door before opening it partially.

"Coming and tell my driver to get my red Bentley." I told my maid as I am preparing what I need to bring with me to my work.

"Yes, Milady." My maid bowed with respect before leaving me alone in my room.

I looked myself over the mirror and something flashed in my mind that made subconsciously touched my lips before smiling. Yet, I'm not used to smiling like this that quickly turned to frown.

"Right, I'll be seeing her again." I released a deep sigh before I headed downstairs to get something to eat for my breakfast.

Speaking of the house, my house wasn't exactly the Cross house but it was within the estate. The Cross main house or what we called the creepy medieval mansion wasn't the very great taste for the modern generation which was why each of the Cross' kin made their own house within the estate. Different from each other and located not too close to one another since each of the kins have their own hectares to make their own town or village. For me, I own fifty hectares that's by the border between the Larouve and the Aspire estate. It led me on building my own house that has a theme of modern industrial design from inside and out with a neutral color palette of grey, metal, and wood. I am a minimalist person with few servants ten maids, six butlers, four drivers, caretakers, and four security personnel that has shifting hours of service which paid them really well. Also, I let them sleep in the condo-apartment quarters with high security that I built for them along with their families.

"Milady, the car is waiting." One of my butler's children informed me after I finished eating my breakfast of omelet and a tuna sandwich with blood wine that I've directly imported from Moonlit Ville.

"Good. I'll be driving my own car this time. You know the drill when I feel like doing things on my own." I told him as I got up from my seat at the breakfast nook next to the kitchen.

"Yes, Milady. Have a great day." My butler and some maids in the kitchen respectfully bowed at me that I smiled at. Well, that's how I thank them for the morning.

As soon as I got out of my house, my driver opened up the driver seat of my Bentley which I am grateful for and immediately hopped on the car since I don't want to waste my time and be late for my work. I drove the car to the research laboratory that's really located exactly at the boundary of the two lands; mine and Celestial Ceres Aspire-Marshall. Anyway, as I got to my workplace and parked my car in the VIP parking space, I received a message from a very familiar colleague and partner.

'Lady Elrisha, I'm already in the PR-Lab 1 but they still won't give access to get inside the lab.'

"I'm on my way there." I replied while I was walking toward the elevator of the research laboratory.

The Cross-Aspire Research Laboratory wasn't any research lab that everyone knew or saw before since in here, every consisting neat-clean white, grey, metal, glass, tile wood, and brick walls palette since it's modernized one. No one could tell that it's a four-story building research facility or even a laboratory unless you get inside of each room, read the sign on each door, or signage posted at each floor hall. But the private research laboratories were located at the top of the building which my office was located since I am the co-owner and one of the CEO's of the Cross-Aspire Research Laboratory. Yet, no one knows the real Lady Elrisha Cross that they've called me, a direct daughter of the head of Cross family and a duchess. Only a few or selected personnel knew who or what my title really was.

Anyway, as I got to the private research floor, I saw the apple of my irritation and my partner through the entire research that I'm supposed to be doing with one of among three princesses of the Aspire clan. Well, I know I supposed to be happy finding my beloved this time around but seriously, I couldn't take her energy that's really making my day high temper.

"Lady Elrisha, can you tell me why they won't let me entered that PR-Lab 1 without you with me? How can I do it alone if something urgent came up with your schedule?" Mirna James was a typical human being with five feet tall and a chubby-cuddling baby body yet still managed to retain the visible curves under her fitted yellow polo shirt underneath her lab coat. Then she's also wearing a nice dark navy blue shaper jeans and a pair of Vanz black sneakers. With skin, that's neutral fair tone and a kind of messy or bed hair because of its waviness semi-long copper brown hair that I want my hand to stroke. Then a face that's oval that made me thought of touching and with a fair nose shape that I wanted to pinch from time to time. Those hazel eyes beneath those yellow eyeglasses, I wanted to get lost into with pinkish rose and a bit pouty lips that made me recall that certain night.

Even it was just a dare; I couldn't get my mind off from wanting to taste it over and over again yet, I can't bring myself to do that since first, she's a human with high energy that really overwhelmed me. Second, I am a vampire that I'm not sure if she knew or could tell that I am since not every human that's staying or working in the kingdom where vampire mostly dwells, have knowledge of any night creatures being alive and not just in novels or something.

"Hmm, it's not safe research which means, it can't be done by one person alone. Plus, I'm not the only one who's controlling the rules here." I flatly answered her question as I opened the door with a tiny drop of my blood which all of the employees here thought was just index fingerprints.

"Oh right, Lady Syrina Aspire. I wish she could train me again as her intern." Mirna hymned dreamily which made me rolled my eyes as I put my things over my locker table were also the research papers happened.

"Now I understand why she put you here instead of the others." I only said as I checked my emails after my computer opened.

"Can I know why?" she wondered as she did the same behind me.

"She's been teaching you directly and putting that in consideration, she sees potential in you which I am not sure if that's the only case." I thought while reading the emails which mostly sent by Syrina.

"What do you mean not the only case?" she was totally curious as she asked me that.

"Well, sometimes – most of it, she plays a prank on me or teased me." I was about to tell her something I shouldn't be until she's ready. That's why I played it cool.

"How?" she kept persistent and not cute at all. It's irritating.

"You know what, I shouldn't be telling any of it all." I cut the conversation there but my mouth slip.

"Hey, you start it off so it's better to finish." She chuckled as she playfully slapped my shoulder when she turned to face me.

"Nope. Not this one. You might learn a secret that you can't bear to hold." I smirked though I knew there's something hidden from within.

"Oh please, I'm a keeper of secrets since I am too. Well, everyone has their own secrets behind their closet." She smiled genuinely at me but nope. My lips were still sealed until it's time to reveal them.

"I see." I smiled then left our table locker and headed inside to another room that contains a very thick glass wall. Behind those glass walls was the laboratory where all apparatus for our researches and experiments were all prepared.
