Work Hard

"What kind of person are you?" Teran yelled at Kahan as he stared at him with an angry and slightly flushed face,

"And here I thought a gangster would know what it meant to pay his debts,"

"Yes," Kahan replied, moving closer to Teran the second time around until their faces were only a few inches apart,

"Which is why you're still alive," Kahan said with a cold and deadly expression on his face, as he recalled his assistant's betrayal and the bitter taste it left in his mouth,

"We both know you're not completely innocent of what happened last night. I did a background check on you and you were not even supposed to be in my room in the first place," Kahan growled in a loud tone that instantly made Teran shriek back, wanting to be anywhere but close to the tall and muscular monster in front of him.

"So when I tell you to do something, I expect a Yes and okay...got it," Kahan said, deciding to end it there, with the intention of bringing up his grandmother if he dared to continue to disagree with him.

"Now, you will be my bodyguard…"

"Ye-Yes," Teran replied in a low whisper looking down and not daring to look up into Kahan's face like he had been doing since he entered his room.

The truth was that as much as Teran knew that Kahan was a popular actor and celebrity, he also knew that he was more than that and most likely involved in some shady things.

And as much as he wanted to stay away from him, for some reason the person in front of him seemed to have no intention of letting him go.

"But, how am I going to…" Teran began speaking still looking down at his hands when Kahan instantly interrupted him not at all allowing him to finish his sentence.

"Leave that to me. I'll get you discharged and we'll leave. We'll talk more about it on the way," Kahan told him turning around to leave the room leaving Teran alone, frozen in shock when he heard that he would be getting discharged that very second.

With Kahan away, Teran immediately considered running.

"I can't have anything to do with him. Bodyguard? He doesn't even need one with the amount of men I saw protecting him yesterday."

"I have no idea what he wants to do with me but it can't be good," Teran thought looking at his skinny arms and weak frame, unable to comprehend how he could ever be a bodyguard to someone that was almost three times his size.

"I should leave. I should run. I'm sure he's paid the bills by now," Teran thought slowly getting off the bed and glad to notice that his bandaged shoulder gave him very little discomfort. If he paid it no mind, he wouldn't even remember that he had been shot some hours before.

Teran's feet hit the floor with him arranging the bed sheets on the bed before moving towards the door. His hands had barely touched the door handle when the door suddenly flew open from the other side, revealing Kahan who had a huge smirk on his face.

"It's nice to know that you're just as eager as I am to start the day," Kahan joked opening the door further and gesturing for Teran to step out of it.

"Ha-Ha, no time like the present," Teran replied, doing his best to hide the shocked and annoyed expression on his face.

Teran was discharged and he slowly followed behind Kahan until they both entered his car,

Kahan had only begun to drive off out of the car park of the hospital when Teran spoke up, unable to keep quiet any longer especially since he didn't understand why he was even in the car and following such a popular actor,

"Where are your men?" Teran asked, not as surprised as he was the first time when Kahan shot him a warning look.

"During the day, I have only a few people that stay in the shadows and follow me. I am Kahan Pelzer, I have a reputation to uphold," he replied,

"So I would be following you around?"

"Yes, as my new assistant and bodyguard,"

"Haaa…" Teran sighed feeling a little relieved at the idea of being an assistant, deciding to stick with the job title in his head and abandoning the bodyguard aspect.

"How much would you be paying me?" Teran asked deciding to actively do his job until his services were no longer needed,

"How much do you want?" Kahn asked, with Teran's head snapped to the side as he stared at him with blatant shock,

"You're joking…"

Withholding the urge to scoff, Kahan replied,

"Why would I? You should ask for a good salary. You're going to be busy all day with barely anytime to sleep. I would advise you to name a good price," Teran heard Kahan say, and instantly the image of a huge pile of money appeared in his head.

"Really?" he asked still reeling from the shock of what he had heard but Kahan simply acted like he was deaf and concentrated fully on driving,

"Then how about five…no, ten…ehmm twenty thousand dollars," Teran asked holding his breath and expecting Kahan to reject his offer since even his salary as a hotel attendant at the five-star hotel he had been fired from was just about A thousand dollars per month,

"Okay, Per week?" Kahan asked and at that point Teran visibly gasped, not daring to say yes since he couldn't fathom what kind of job the monster beside him would ask him to do in exchange for such a ridiculous amount of money.

"Per week? I don't want it. You might as well give me every month," Teran replied in a low whisper, already feeling weird for asking for twenty thousand dollars in a month since it was a lot of money.

"If that's what you want but If I were you, I would have asked for more. Your workload is huge and you don't even know by how much yet," Kahan told him with a devilish smirk on his face as he looked at Teran.

Teran didn't at all understand the looks Kahan was giving him, especially the weird flirty expression in his eyes but he was determined to work hard.
