Dungeon (1)

It had been a month since I've joined Kerose academy and so far I've been fighting with magic and my physical capabilities with Scarlet and doing some other lessons which was just studying.

I was informed by Scarlet that we would be exploring a dungeon today which isn't too far away from the academy and I should be able to deal with the majority of the monster in there.

Dungeons are formed with and abnormal amount of mana in the air which is flowing with a violent current. A dungeon will form in that area and the amount of mana which was in that area will change the level of the dungeon. Their ranks go just like adventurer ranks but there hasn't been a dungeon above SSS - rank yet.

I made my way out of the dorms and met Scarlet at the front gate of the school.

"Hey Kiera! I hope your ready because I'll only step in if I think you can't handle it." Scarlet said cheerfully.

"I'll be fine." I said as we walked out of the gate.

We walked through the streets and exited the capital city's walls. From then on we were running north-east in the direction of the dungeon.

"Just to recap, you will be going in a mid F - rank dungeon which will have monsters like goblins, slimes, kobolds and maybe some low levelled orcs. Since this is an F rank dungeon you should be fine but there is a chance of the dungeon becoming unstable and increasing its rank. If you realise any changes which I don't please point them out and we will exit immediately and report it back to the adventurers guild, okay?"

"Yeah, I got it." I replied.

'I've already fought slimes and I've came across goblins as well. Kobolds are like lizard men but they aren't beast men. If I'm correct kobolds have very little wyvern or dragon blood in them. Orcs are ping men which are brutes but I should be able to deal with them.' I thought to myself.

We ran for about an hour before we reached our location. The dungeon entrance was a portal of sorts and moved you into a different dimension. It was small and followed the same principles that Yerseild does. Measuring the mana fluctuations and how violent they flow will tell you the levels of the dungeon.

"Ready? Or do you want to rest and gain back your stamina?" Scarlet asked.

"Let's just go in. My stamina is fine." I said jumping through the portal.

My consciousness faded and then returned seconds later and I was now inside the dungeon which had the layout of a forest.

Lush green trees and vibrant plants scattered as far as the eye can see.

'Goblins will have an easy time blending in, kobolds I assume live by rivers that flow through this place and the slimes must have evolved. Orcs probably live in caves.' I thought as I looked around.

"Well let's get moving. You will be doing all the work now." Scarlet said with a smile.

"Okay." I said as I started walking off in a random direction.

There wasn't any monsters as of yet but there was a water source 83 metres to my left which I turned to walk towards. There were thick vines hanging from the trees making it a little more difficult to navigate but with the help of [Spacial awareness] I was fine.

As I cut some vines to reveal the view of a river with Adonis in sword form I noticed a group of Kobolds and water slimes around it. I crouched down in the bushes, watching from afar.

'System scan for their levels and allocate them a rank according to their strength, don't bother checking the slimes.'

'Okay seems easy I'll fire off a couple arrows from her with fire at the tips of the arrows enhanced with air then I'll rush in with my sword.' I though creating a basic plan in my head.

I transformed Adonis into a bow and created an arrow. I drew back the arrow with practiced form and ignited the tip of the arrow with my fire magic. Using wind magic a strengthened the arrow and when I released the arrow I made it fly faster by reducing the drag.

*SCREEEECH!*

I hit a kobold in the chest area where their hearts were and since I strengthened the arrow and ignited the arrow it managed to pierce through its tough blue scales that covered its entirety. The flames from the arrow burned out the flesh of the kobold killing it in the process.

I drew back another arrow without delay and used the same tactic of ignition and enhancement of the arrow and released the arrow which pierced through another kobold which let out a screech as it perished and burned on the ground. I fired off another and killing another kobold but this time the other kobolds realised my location and started running to my location in the bushes.

"3 down 2 to go." I said as I stood up switching Adonis to a blade.

I leaped out from behind my cover of the bushes and vines towards the two oncoming kobolds. Despite killing their highest levelled one they showed no fear of me as they thought I was only good with a bow making me easy for the picking bow they know where I am.

'Fools.'

I covered the entirety of my blade with fire and slashed down across the chest of a kobold which was engulfed by the flames released into the surroundings. The other kobold saw this and realised its mistake and started to back away slowly.

Looking over at the last kobold which was currently to my right I turned my body to its direction. This time I vocalised my thoughts.

"Fool."

I dashed forwards which kicked up dirt and pierced right through its heart. Twisting the blade I pulled it out of its gaping wound which started burning from the inside out. With a thud from the kobolds lifeless body hitting the ground they were all gone. Only the slimes were left but they hadn't noticed I was here as they were quite the distance away.
