32 First day as an apprentice

By early morning Aeldrya was already on her feet. When she entered the room where Limy spent the night she was quite surprised. She didn't expect that Limy awoke before her. Normal, after all, neither she nor I slept.

The plan for the day was to start the mission that we put aside the day before. The first thing we did was go for weapons. Since Aeldrya had a room full of them, we saved from the hassle of going shopping for new ones.

"Let's see what we find for you. I don't have any armor that suits your height, although if we're only going to hunt rabbits you won't need it. Against those monsters, it is better to have good mobility than good defense. About the weapon... They are difficult to hunt with a sword, it would be best to use a bow. The problem is that you will not be able to use it adequately in your condition."

She started rummaging through her arsenal and eventually she came back with a dagger, a short sword, and a bow. All those weapons were of great quality. The sword we had borrowed indefinitely from those thieves looked like a mere toy next to them.

"But it doesn't hurt to try."

“Understood.”

After equipping the three weapons, we went to the adventurer's guild and took the mission. While Aeldrya was handling the bureaucracy, we waited near some adventurers that were carelessly chatting among themselves. I took the opportunity to listen to their conversations... It might be rude to get into other people's conversations, but I needed as much information as possible, quality and reliable information. I opened my ears and got ready to capture any sound around me.

"I've got hemorrhoids."

"Really? Wow, that must hurt… I once shit a huge crap big enough to break my ass. I still remember how much I suffered during those days."

"Do not compare. Hemorrhoids are more painful than that."

'This information is just what I don't need!'

For a moment I thought it was not worthwhile to continue listening to anything from that group of madmen that filled the place. However, another close conversation caught my attention.

"Did you hear the news? We are again under attack and the empire does not send help no matter how much the count asks for it."

"It's always the same. That shitty kid doesn't care about us. I wish that he and his great empire die. I'm sure Talucay could stand up even without belonging to this stupid empire."

"You are right. Anyway, they are small groups that do little more than disturb, and although there are constant incursions I doubt that they dare to attack Cerbalon. It is actually very difficult for troops to even reach the outer wall, much less pass it. And if they do, we will wait for them here."

"I agree with that. This city is the safest in the county."

I finally found out where I was. Apparently, I was in a county called Talucay and its city seemed to be the capital, Cerbalon.

"All set, we're going."

Aeldrya was back a few minutes later. We head towards the exit of the city. We were not far away from the north door, so soon got out of it and stepped into a large meadow full of tall grass.

"Limy, this place is crawling with those rabbit monsters. They are a bit difficult to find amongst all this undergrowth, but considering my tracking skills, it won't take long to find them."

"There's one there,” Limy pointed to a distant bush.

"Don't try to be a smart ass, girl. It is impossible for you to notice something before I do... Well, it's true, there is one..."

"There's another there. In that direction, there are five more. Behind us..."

Aeldrya stared at Limy with a nasty grin.

"I can't believe you can track prey better than I can… without seeing."

"No problem."

"Well, look at this."

Aeldrya took her bow and prepared an arrow. After aiming at what seemed to me to be a completely empty place, she let it fly. The arrow disappeared in the middle of the vegetation without a trace.

“Go.”

When we got to the place where the arrow fell, we found a rabbit with rather unpleasant insect legs... and an arrow stuck... in the middle of the butt.

'How the hell you managed to precisely hit that mark?!'

Aeldrya picked up the rabbit and retrieved the arrow.

“It's a coincidence that I hit it right there…” she muttered. "Whatever, this is the best way to hunt them down. It's easy for me, but completely useless. They even give me experience, and after all, this is your mission. Hunt them It's up to you."

“Understood.”

Limy readied her bow and imitated her. Like Aeldrya, she shot an arrow towards a place where I couldn't see anything. However, unlike the elf, the sound of something moving through the undergrowth was heard and a rabbit leaped over the grass before escaping into the distance. Aeldrya seemed pleased to see that. She even gave a little sigh of relief.

'It would depress you if she was able to hunt them as easily, right?'

"Let's do something, if you can catch ten more by yourself before it's time to eat I'll give you a prize. You can use any method, you don't necessarily have to rely on the bow."

“Understood.”

—Damn erofu, who does she think she is? Come on Limy, I'm going to hold them with my magic and you hunt them down.

—Don't worry, master. I want to do it myself.

—Oh, well. As you wish, I leave everything to you. Well then, let me get out without her noticing. I'll go explore a bit on my own.

—Understood, master.

I stepped out from within Limy and slipped through the undergrowth without Aeldrya noticing.

—I'm going to leave you alone for a few hours, remember everything I have told you and don't let anyone know that you are a slime.

—Of course, master.

I quickly rolled away from the place. I wanted to see a little more of the outskirts of the city. However, kilometers around it, all seemed to be a fairly extensive meadow. There were probably not many dangers near human settlements. They wouldn't have built a city there if it hadn't been the case.
