5 Wu Yuxuan, marry me!
The man in front of her had his forehead furrowed as he asked, "I didn't hurt you, did I?"
Chen Lin lowered her head when she heard his question.
She wanted to say that he didn't hurt her, but rather that it was his brother who did.
What she felt from slamming into him was nothing compared to the tearing pain her heart is experiencing right now.
Wu Yuxuan got even more concerned when he saw the woman lower her head, and he couldn't help but assume that he had hit her quite hard.
However, he was taken aback when Chen Lin abruptly looked up, her expression not one of someone in pain, but rather one of someone prepared to do something— incredulous.
The woman's eyes were still red and teary and he knew why. However, at that moment, she still looks lovely especially with her eyes sparkling in the light, and what she said next made him question his reality.
"Wu Yuxuan, marry me!"
It required all of Chen Lin's remaining courage to voice those words.
But now that she was finally able to say the thought that suddenly came to her mind, she became bold and she continued, "You probably know what happened, and I just wanna clear something up. I want to marry you for two reasons: first, I want to exact revenge on Wu Changming for cheating on me, and second," her voice softened as her hand formed tight fists, "I know Grandpa is worried about me now, and I can only think of marrying someone he trusts to put his mind at ease."
She received no response from him, and the man merely stared at her, perplexed.
The more he remained silent, the more she'd lost her confidence and courage bit by bit.
"What am I going to gain from this?" Wu Yuxuan asked, causing her to be astonished once more.
She didn't know how she should answer his question as she had no idea what he would gain from her offer.
A businessman would never accept a transaction that offered no benefits.
She's very well aware of that.
She exclaimed when she suddenly thought of something, "I'll give you everything I have!" When she saw Wu Yuxuan raise his brow at her, she continued, "You know my Grandpa is planning to let me inherit the company, I'll give all my shares to you."
She thought it would be enough to tempt the man to accept her offer because handing him the company is already a very excellent offer.
That was the Chen Company for God's sake!
It may not be as large as his current empire, but it is still worth billions.
Plus, he'll have her as a wife, which is a plus!
It's not like she's a nobody. He'll have the glory of marrying her, an influential figure in the entertainment industry.
However, Wu Yuxuan merely said in an indifferent voice, "What's yours would be mine and what's mine is yours once we're married so that doesn't count."
"Ah?" Chen Lin was speechless.
If that's his way of thinking then what else could she possibly offer?
It can't be that he'll be interested in her awards, right?
It would still be his if they get married!
"Then what do you want?" She couldn't help but ask, her voice filled with desperation and distress.
"I want your heart." Wu Yuxuan stated with all seriousness, causing her to be dumbfounded again.
"What do you mean?" She asked, her expression of confusion.
Wu Yuxuan was quiet for a few seconds before he responded, "I don't want my marriage to be simply of convenience."
Chen Lin was taken aback by his response.
She assumed that someone like Wu Yuxuan would exploit his marriage to broaden his network and influence, as most people in the industry do.
Arranged marriages are common among the Capital's affluent families.
She could only purse her lips.
He wants to marry because of feelings and love, not because of a business transaction.
What more could she possibly do?
Just as Chen Lin was about to give up on this incredulous idea of hers, she suddenly thought of something, her eyes glinting again when she looked at the man in front of her, "Then let's get to know each other after the marriage— give me time, I have just been betrayed and it won't be easy for me to develop any feeling for you immediately," then she said in a voice filled with determination, "As long as you don't hurt me, then I will give you my heart in the future."
She waited for the man's reaction, her heart pounding in her chest as she was afraid that she'll be rejected.
Wu Yuxuan's following words, however, brought a sigh of relief to her heart and the nervousness that had gripped her vanished in an instant.
"Then I'll help you get back for what they did to you, but don't let hatred consume your heart. The last thing I want is for my wife to be obsessed with vengeance."
Chen Lin nodded as she understand what he was worried about.
They had to work hard to make their marriage work, especially since there are no feelings between them, and it will be even more difficult if the other one simply had revenge on her mind and hatred in her heart.
"When do you want to get married?" Wu Yuxuan asked.
And Chen Lin answered with no hesitation, "Now."
