The Wedding

Xinshui City, Chen Villa.

As the sun slowly rose over the horizon, casting long shadows across the grass, the morning air was fresh and cool. The trees swayed in the wind and the sound of rustling leaves can be heard in the breeze.

It was a beautiful morning, and Chen Lin felt a sense of calm as she gripped the bouquet closer in her palm.

It was the day she would finally marry.

This event is finally taking place after months of planning.

"Linlin..." Chen Lin turned her head and saw her grandfather, Chen Hai.

She immediately went over to help the old man when she saw him walking without his cane.

"Grandfather, where's your walking stick?" She asked and assisted the old man.

Chen Hai then replied, "How could I walk you with a stick in the chapel on your wedding day?"

"You can barely take a few steps the other day and now you're this energetic?" Her eyes were filled with a playful glint as she glance at her grandfather.

"Ay, what are you talking about? It's because I've saved all my energy for this exact day so I can walk with you as I hand you over to that Changming boy."

"Grandpa, stop calling him a boy, he's a grown man already."

"Should I stop calling you my little girl also?"

"Of course not, that is a different matter." She whined as she grabbed the old man's arm tighter.

Whether she is 10 years old or 23 years old, she'll always remain her grandfather's little girl.

Her grandfather had raised her her entire life. Due to complications during pregnancy, her mother died while giving birth to her, and her father, Chen Jie, was a disappointment.

Her father only knows how to fool around with women.

Now he was getting older and his body was weakening by the day, Chen Lin knew that her grandfather's major concern before passing away was her marriage.

"Linlin, Grandpa Chen! What are you still waiting for, get inside the bridal car already! The wedding is about to start." Shi Yuan, her close friend, exclaimed and ushered them to the luxurious car that was waiting for them.

"Yuan, you're here," the old man beamed upon seeing Shi Yuan.

Shi Yuan and Liu Yanmei are also like his granddaughters.

The three all grew up together.

"Sorry for only greeting you now Grandpa, I've been busy checking if everything's all right." Although they hired numerous people to oversee the wedding, Shi Yuan can't relax if she doesn't do it herself.

"Aiya! Stop talking so much and go inside!" Shi Yuan ushered them again, and when she saw the old man go inside the car, she grabbed Chen Lin and asked, "Where's Yanmei? Is she going to be late for the wedding?"

"She's already at the Chapel, why?"

"What? I just called my brother and she isn't there. I've been calling her multiple times already but she's not answering."

Chen Lin furrowed her brows.

She thought Liu Yanmei had already gone to the chapel because she hadn't seen the girl all morning.

"What the hell happened to Yanmei? Should we begin without her?" Chen Lin became concerned.

Due to their packed schedules, they hadn't seen each other in three days.

Shi Yuan rolled her eyes, "It's not like she's the bride for us not to start the wedding."

The Wedding Chapel was beautifully decorated.

The walls were covered with exquisite white blossom garlands that cascaded down like a river of petals. The aisle was decorated with tall vases that were filled with flowers of different colors, giving the chapel a vibrant and relaxing feel.

It was a lovely sight.

"Madam Wu, how are you doing? Your smile hasn't faded since this morning." A person went up to the groom's family to congratulate them.

Another one added, "Who wouldn't be this happy when they'll have such a good daughter-in-law?"

Shao Fenfang, Wu Changming's mother, laughed lightly at their remark.

She is indeed happy now that her son is getting married to Chen Lin.
