"Father, go with Grandfather first," Chen Lin said to Chen Jie, "and I'll handle the wedding."
Chen Jie wanted to refuse but seeing the state of the Chapel and how chaotic it was, he eventually nodded.
"Yuan, help me guide the guest out." Shi Yuan nodded and along with her brother assisted the guest out of the Chapel.
"Linlin..." Madam Wu wanted to plead for her son but when Chen Lin turned towards her with those cold eyes, she could only purse her lips.
"Madam Wu, Master Wu, please." Chen Lin gestured them towards the door and they knew that Chen Lin wants them to go out.
There was no wedding happening today.
However, it was Liu Yanmei who was going to the door, "Where do you think you're going?" Chen Lin asked.
Liu Yanmei turned and with eyes that were welling up with tears again, answered, "Grandfather is already at the hospital and you're still calm enough to stay here?"
Chen Lin who thought she only felt cold towards these people, felt her body heat up with anger as she strode towards the girl who has the guts to say those words to her.
She raised her hand and with all the strength she could muster, slapped Liu Yanmei and a piercing snap rang through the Chapel.
The impact of the slap was visible, leaving a crimson mark on the cheek.
"Chen Lin!" She felt someone grabbed her away from Liu Yanmei but she shook the hands that held her.
"Don't touch me!" When Wu Changming didn't let go of his hold on her, Chen Lin turned towards him and delivered a slap on his cheek as well.
Chen Lin stood there, her eyes blazing with anger and disgust.
She can't believe the guts of these people!
"What? Are you gonna curse me for seducing Brother Ming?" Liu Yanmei questioned, her eyes shooting daggers at Chen Lin, her left ear ringing from the slap.
"Liu Yanmei, why did you do this?" Chen Lin asked, eager to know why she had done all of this.
Was there ever a time when she mistreated Liu Yanmei, which is why her friend did this to her?
"I had always been envious of what you had before but it turns out, I'm entitled to get what you have as well but I was deprived of it!"
"You're fucking jealous? Despite not being a Chen before, you had everything that I also have! I treated you as my sister despite not knowing we were blood-related, yet you went ahead and ruined my marriage when you knew instead! What kind of fucked up thinking do you have?" Chen Lin yelled back.
She thought it was only anger that she felt at this point, but when memories of them together started to flash in her mind, she felt her tears slowly trickle down.
It wasn't an exaggeration to say that she and her grandfather treated Liu Yanmei as their family.
Chen Lin created her career without any help from her grandfather to prove her worth, but when Liu Yanmei entered the modeling industry, she and her grandfather assisted her in getting into an outstanding modeling agency and even settled some of her contracts.
Even Liu Yanmei's manager who was top tier among others was introduced to her by Chen Lin.
"You don't understand and you never will! Regardless of everything I have accomplished, they still look up to and respect you more just because of your family background! So don't tell me I have everything you have!" Liu Yanmei exclaimed causing Chen Lin to be dumbfounded by how stupid her reason is.
"You— Liu Yanmei when did you become this stupid?" She couldn't help but scoff, "They probably do so because everyone knew I started from the bottom, climbed my way up, and started my career way earlier than you did! If you wanted everyone to look up to you then you could have done so without betraying me— Grandpa— everyone like this!"
If this is her way of getting everyone to look up to her more then she's fucked in the head!
"And you have everything I have— hell, you even have my other kidney in you!" She added still in disbelief that all she had done were nothing for Liu Yanmei.
However, just as she thought it would wake the girl up and make her realize that she had given her everything she could, Liu Yanmei smirked and mocked her, "It's the least you can do as my sister who took everything that should have been mine also. Now I'm taking back what belongs to me. Besides, it was me who met Brother Ming first!"
Chen Lin didn't know where to begin because everything the girl said was all crap! How can she take everything away from her when she had no idea she was her sister?!
But the most shocking was her last sentence, "Are you completely insane? Is this a first-come, first-served situation?" Her tears continued to fall as she yelled back at the girl.
She never knew that Liu Yanmei's thinking is this messed up!
So what if she met Wu Changming first? That does not justify what they did!
"Meimei, that's enough already! Being stressed out isn't good for the baby." Wu Changming went up to Liu Yanmei and stopped her from saying more.
"No, tell her what you promised me. Isn't it because she is the heir of Grandpa's company? Well now, I'm also a Chen too, so you don't need to force yourself to be with her." Wu Changming pursed his lips, stating his stance that he doesn't want to say anything about it.
Seeing the man's expression, Liu Yanmei narrowed her eyes as she threatened, "Brother Ming, tell her or I will leave you as well."
"Okay, okay. Don't be angry anymore alright? It's not good for the baby," Wu Changming turned towards Chen Lin, "I only got together with you so I could get your grandpa's company."
He was planning to marry Chen Lin and keep Liu Yanmei as his mistress but he never knew that this would happen.
The only good thing that came out of this is that Liu Yanmei is also a Chen.
"You can't blame me for getting together with Meimei. You're too proud and I hate it when you think you're so much better than me." Wu Changming added.
Chen Lin seemed to be seething with emotion, her body tense as she glared at the man.
She never knew this is the kind of person she wanted to marry!
"Thank you for letting me see your true colors," Chen Lin says coldly as she nodded, "You saved me from making a decision that I would later come to regret."
She could only blame herself for being blind this time.
She'd fed a snake with both hands only to get bitten in the end.
She gave her a second chance at life by donating her kidney.
She offered her the opportunity to have a better life by helping her with her career.
"Don't think that just because you're a Chen you'd be a part of the family. I'm not going to let you get anything, not even a dime. If I can give you everything previously, I can also take back all I've given."
Chen Lin turned around as her hand grabbed the long trail of her dress.
With a final glance at the man she thought she would spend the rest of her life with, and at the woman who she could trust her life to, she turned and walked out of the Chapel.
They might have ruined her wedding but she wouldn't let them ruin her life.
She can start again and make them regret what they have done!
Chen Lin let go of the gown as she turned around only to bump into something hard making her groan out of pain.
"I'm sorry. Are you okay?"
She looked up and was about to apologize when she saw a familiar face.
"Wu Yuxuan?"
