I finally tore him away from the sights by saying, “How about some dinner?”

“Sure,” he said, admiring the view across the Seine one last time. We caught an elevator back down, thankfully without the long wait this time. “I know a great place,” I said. “It’s not too far.” We set out along the river, Rabi stopping to look at some of the souvenirs offered by the street vendors along the way. He was like a little kid in a candy store, and I was delighted to afford him the opportunity. Up to now the idea of leisure time had been a foreign concept for him, and I wanted to change that.

We spent the evening in a quiet little bistro, sharing a bottle of wine and a marvelous meal. He was simply beaming. Was he in love with me? I certainly hoped so.
