13 Step #04

At Diamond City Amusement Park.

Sei's eyes, though hidden, slowly narrowed the moment he realized where they were while Davi was busy telling herself to focus on her mission.

However, it had been such a long time since she and her brother last visited an amusement park. She just couldn't help but felt nostalgic as she watched the colorful towering palaces in the park.

As she looked around, she fell into a trance for a while before she took a deep breath and switched into mission mode. She then turned to the man beside her and smiled brightly.

'Step #04: Touch him.' Davi remembered what Hinari told her; 'Don't make it too obvious, do it naturally'.

Davi knew that she needed to try all sorts of different strategies for her to know what could make her husband react. She had to do some experiments and observe his every reaction. And to do that, she had to be alert and mindful at the same time.

"Do you have a place you want to visit first?" she asked even though she already knew what he would say.

"Up to you."

"Okay! Let's go!"

Davi casually grabbed his wrist then excitedly pulled him towards the route to the dancing fountain. But then, something was a bit off. The moment she touched him, she felt like she was the one who was being affected instead. Touching him suddenly made her heart flutter, making Davi instantly lose her concentration. 'Why the hell am I feeling like this? I'm just holding his wrist, for heaven's' sake!'

Davi couldn't believe it! She couldn't even manage to look at him at that moment because she was desperately trying to calm herself down, not realising that she was now walking very fast towards some route that wasn't even on her plan.

She didn't even notice that the man she was dragging was frowning due to the overwhelming crowds. His eyes were also narrowed in confusion because the girl who was happily talking to him just now, was suddenly walking at full speed, dragging him.

Thankfully, people were voluntarily opening up a pathway for them, maybe because they were just too eye-catching that people thought they were some celebrity couple hiding behind bunny masks.

 Still, Sei didn't say a thing and obediently following his wife, matching her pace. He occasionally glanced at the wrist his wife was holding. He could feel her suddenly exerting strength, as if she was making sure that he would not get separated from her.

In the middle of their full speed walk, a lady in uniform popped before them, causing them to finally halt. Davi immediately snapped back into reality, looking as though she was suddenly awakened from a short but taxing dream.

"Welcome to our haunted mansion. We're actually giving a 50% discount to the tenth couple who joins us and you two are just too lucky because you are the tenth! Please enjoy your discount ma'am and sir and good luck!"

The uniformed lady said as she gave them tickets which was accepted by Sei without any hesitation.

Davi was surprised because of what Sei did and she finally realized where they were. 'Wait, what? How did we end up here? Weren't we heading to the dancing fountain just now? And what?! H-haunted house?'

"Let's go," Sei spoke.

It was supposed to be a good development because it seemed like something finally caught Sei's attention. 'But why? Is Sei actually interested in horror?! My god, this monster! Arghh! I don't want to go in!'

Davi's greatest weakness was her brother. In second place, were ghosts. She was phasmophobic and could not even handle horror movies, much more a haunted house!

"I-is it okay for you to go in?" she stammered. When the man nodded, Davi could only bite her lip and follow him. She inhaled deeply convincing herself that her mission was much more important than her fear and that this man before her was a much more terrifying monster than any ghosts around.

As they entered the house, Sei kept glancing at his wife. He thought that Davi must have been so excited to bring him to the haunted house since she even dragged him at full speed towards this place. He thought that Davi must have been chasing that 10th couple discount so why was this girl suddenly looked so tense now as if she didn't want to go in?
