"Wait, you mean I inherited my black cube from you?" Gu Tan asked with shock and disbelieve.
"Yes, in fact, you have inherited something else as well and that is the bloodline." Gu Shui nodded her head and answered.
"So, you were going to wait till I reach fourteen and tell me everything. But, I heard from my master that you don't even have the strong cultivation. What happened?" Gu Tan tilts his head as he understand it a little but he was still confused. I mean nobody would try to hide their trump card in the face of death, right?
But, suddenly his eyes shrunk. There was one point of the memory that was blurry. And, that was his survival. Because there is no way his enemy would've left him alive. But, he didn't understand who saved his butt.
'Gu Tan, calm down! Calm Down! There is no need to remember anything right now. If I remember anything, I would definitely trigger pain in my mind. I might collapse as well. For now, let's not think about that.'
He took a deep breath and stared at his mother, waiting for his answer. But before answering him, Gu Shui turned her head at Gu Chen.
"Humph! I don't care about it anymore. Do what you want!"
Gu Chen spoke with a grumpy mood and left them alone. His departure made Gu Shui slightly sad. Gu Tan raised his eyes and asked "Dad doesn't want me to learn about this, right?"
Gu Shui stuck her lips together and nodded her head with slight darkness in her eyes.
"He is a great father. He does want his son to be great but he doesn't want his son to miss every opportunity of life. Youth are youths, they deserve carefree life. That's what he says. And, that's why he held a grudge against your master for a long time."
"Even though I and father were relieved that your master was a monk, he wasn't. It's not that he doesn't want you to get stronger. It's just that he wants you to grow like normal children. That's why he forcefully stopped me from doing anything."
"In fact, I was planning on training you from an early age so that you can inherit the bloodline early. But, receiving this bloodline also means you will bear the great responsibilities, and to get you ready for such responsibility, I might even have to train you non-stop which your dad didn't like."
"He threatened me that if I force you for training until you reach the age of fourteen, he will divorce me and keep you away from me. Well, I couldn't bear that so I didn't tell you anything. Do you know why your father didn't want to become the elder of the village?"
Gu Tan shook his head. In fact, he truly didn't know why his father is stuck with these morals? Sometimes it is hard to stick with these morals and just like now, his dad was truly angry with his mother because she forced him to break those morals.
"Let's go! I will take you to a place, the only place which is hidden from everyone and that includes you." Gu Shui extended her hand and he held her. The mother and son left the house while Kao'er brought the meal to the table.
"Sigh! I need to reheat the food once again."
Just as she packed those meals, a voice rang from the door.
"Little Kao'er, serve food for me and dad!" The person who spoke was none other than Gu Chen. He was accompanying Gu Tian as they walked in. Kao'er was startled by his presence but she smiled and hurriedly started serving food.
"Chen'er, you don't have to accompany me for every meal. You need to spend more time with Tan'er." Gu Tian sighed as he walked towards the main seat.
"Father, Tan'er needs freedom more than me. But if he does need me, I will always be there for him." Gu Chen's expression was quite solemn as he sat down next to his father.
"Sigh! You and your morals. You have already done enough, son. You don't need to continue with this. Just take some rest." Gu Tian sighed with a trace of regret in his eyes.
Gu Chen shook his head and said "Father, you gave me the freedom to do everything I want. And, if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have met her. I will never break my moral codes. Children need freedom, old people need to accompany and an adult needs work."
"I am an adult. And, I will do everything to work hard."
Ding!
At this moment, the spoon that Kao'er was holding suddenly fell down. She turned her head at Gu Chen and burst into tears.
"Thank you for being so kind-hearted, master!"
Gu Chen smiled and patted her head "Kao'er you are an adult. You deserve to work but she doesn't need it. I am just doing what I can."
On another side of the village, Gu Shui took Gu Tan near the village.
"Son, there is something that I always wanted to tell you." Saying so, she held his hand tightly and continued "Meeting your dad when he was twelve, having you when I was twenty-four, time passes like water in a river. Do you know how much Yin Spirit Grass costs?"
Hearing her words, Gu Tan nodded his head and said "One Spirit Stone for each!"
Gu Shui nodded her head "When I met your dad, my cultivation was almost destryoed, mine yin source was on the brink of destruction and I was heavily injured. If it was someone else, they would've given up on me. But, your dad didn't."
"Your dad wasn't restricted by your grandfather but you know our family isn't too rich. At that time, your grandfather said 'I will give you one spirit stone each day for two years. Until you reach fourteen, I don't want you to do anything but once you reach fourteen, you will work hard and pay me seven hundred thirty spirit stones.'"
"After that, your grandfather burrowed five hundred spirit stones from other villagers and gave your father one each day. If it was someone else, I don't think he would've allowed his son to live his childhood without restriction even when they were in debt."
"So, your father learned a lesson from your grandfather. Until a child is a child, don't place any responsibility on him. Of course, I wasn't cured in just two years. So, after your father turned fourteen, he started working."
Saying so, they reached in front of the old house. It was quite far from the village and also the place where he didn't visit in his last life. Of course, there were many places that he didn't visit in his previous life.
"Aunt Lan, I want to eat meat."
"Aunt Su, I feel sleepy. Can I go to sleep now?"
"Aunt Lan, I also want to eat meat."
"But, we don't have meat today. How about we eat meat tomorrow?"
As they walked inside, Gu Tan heard the voices of children and some women. He was surprised when he saw them.
"Ahh! Mistress Gu!" Just as they walked in, one of the women found Gu Shui and shouted.
"Mistress Gu! Mistress Gu! Mistress Gu!"
The children also rushed towards her and held her legs. As for the women, they simply bowed in front of her. Gu Tan was surprised to see his mother so popular.
He was even more surprised to see the happiness and enthusiasm of these children.
"Hahaha! It seems everyone is having the meal. Don't mind us! I am here to show my son this place." Gu Shui smiled as crouched down and embraced those children. Then, she stood up and pointed her hand at Gu Tan.
"Big Brother!!!" Suddenly, one of the girls screamed and rushed towards Gu Tan's embrace. When he saw the girl, he was stunned.
"Little Kao!" He has met Kao's little sister twice but he doesn't know where she lives. Kao'er lives in his house but not her sister so he was very curious. He didn't expect to find her here.
"Big Brother, did sister come you?" Little Kao was a seven-year-old girl. She was wearing a pink dress. She had a round and cute face with big eyes.
"Kao'er didn't come. But, we can visit her tomorrow if you want." Gu Tan smiled and patted her head.
"Really?" Little Kao'er screamed with wide eyes and a smile.
"Of course!" Gu Tan smiled and nodded his head.
On the side, one of the women called Aunt Lan walked towards Gu Shui and whispered in her ears.
As soon as she heard her words, Gu Shui narrowed her eyes.
"How did ten children get cold in a single night?" Gu Shui asked.
Gu Tan got slightly curious as well. Aunt Lan bowed her head and said "Miss, there is a girl who is suffering a terrible cold and because of her, others are also suffering the cold. I was going to tell master about this tomorrow but thank god, you arrived today."
"Can you take me to her?" Gu Shui asked.
