Father's Kindness

"Wait, you mean I inherited my black cube from you?" Gu Tan asked with shock and disbelieve.

"Yes, in fact, you have inherited something else as well and that is the bloodline." Gu Shui nodded her head and answered.

"So, you were going to wait till I reach fourteen and tell me everything. But, I heard from my master that you don't even have the strong cultivation. What happened?" He took a deep breath and stared at his mother, waiting for his answer. But before answering him, Gu Shui turned her head at Gu Chen.

Gu Chen spoke with a grumpy mood and left them alone. His departure made Gu Shui slightly sad. Gu Tan raised his eyes and asked "Dad doesn't want me to learn about this, right?"

"He is a great father. He does want his son to be great but he doesn't want his son to miss every opportunity of life. Youth are youths, they deserve carefree life. That's what he says. And, that's why he held a grudge against your master for a long time."

Just as she packed those meals, a voice rang from the door.

"Little Kao'er, serve food for me and dad!" The person who spoke was none other than Gu Chen. He was accompanying Gu Tian as they walked in. Kao'er was startled by his presence but she smiled and hurriedly started serving food.

"Chen'er, you don't have to accompany me for every meal. You need to spend more time with Tan'er." Gu Tian sighed as he walked towards the main seat.

"Father, Tan'er needs freedom more than me. But if he does need me, I will always be there for him." Gu Chen's expression was quite solemn as he sat down next to his father.

"Sigh! You and your morals. You have already done enough, son. You don't need to continue with this. Just take some rest." Gu Tian sighed with a trace of regret in his eyes.

Gu Chen shook his head and said "Father, you gave me the freedom to do everything I want. And, if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have met her. I will never break my moral codes. Children need freedom, old people need to accompany and an adult needs work."

"I am an adult. And, I will do everything to work hard."

At this moment, the spoon that Kao'er was holding suddenly fell down. She turned her head at Gu Chen and burst into tears.

Gu Chen smiled and patted her head "Kao'er you are an adult. You deserve to work but she doesn't need it. I am just doing what I can."

On another side of the village, Gu Shui took Gu Tan near the village.

"Big Brother, did sister come you?" Little Kao was a seven-year-old girl. She was wearing a pink dress. She had a round and cute face with big eyes.

"Kao'er didn't come. But, we can visit her tomorrow if you want." Gu Tan smiled and patted her head.

"Really?" Little Kao'er screamed with wide eyes and a smile.

"Of course!" Gu Tan smiled and nodded his head.

On the side, one of the women called Aunt Lan walked towards Gu Shui and whispered in her ears.

As soon as she heard her words, Gu Shui narrowed her eyes.

"How did ten children get cold in a single night?" Gu Shui asked.

Gu Tan got slightly curious as well. Aunt Lan bowed her head and said "Miss, there is a girl who is suffering a terrible cold and because of her, others are also suffering the cold. I was going to tell master about this tomorrow but thank god, you arrived today."

"Can you take me to her?" Gu Shui asked.
