Chapter 6 In the making of something fine

Fiora keep opening one cabinet after another. Scanning all the ingredients in the kitchen. 'hmm... Not

much I can make' In the kitchen, there's only few basic cookery and ingredients. Most of them are

wheat flour. There are 2 big sack of it. No wonder Beatriz keep feeding them bread. Plus there's not a

even a fridge. Kylie wonder in which century she's actually in. 'Ah.. mediaeval time' After all the book

was written based on that age.

'Since all ingredients are fresh from the farm..'

Kylie look outside the window. Few chickens are peacefully plucking something on the ground using

their beak.

'Fuck it'

Kylie is currently outside her house, holding a basket upside down. Gulps.. She's slowly approaching the

target.

'Just a bit more..' Kylie lick the bottom of her lips.

"Hey! What are you doing!!"

A loud angry scream make all the chicken run and scrambled around. A chubby guy walk quickly towards

her. He has freckles on his angry face.

'Oh no, I can smell trouble'

"Catching some chicken?"

The guy's eyes twitch.

"You do aware that those are my chicken, right?" The guy is looking at Fiora up and down. 'She seems

perfectly healthy now'

"Ah! They aren't belongs to Hans- I means, my dad? Ahaha.."

Fiora let out an awkward laughter. Fiora keep it in mind to ask Beatriz later about their belongings

around here. These people don't even have fence around their houses. And those chicken even run

freely. It's hard to know which belongs to them. But she do know that Hans own few chicken too.

Filo sighed. "They are right"

"Huh?"

"You really loss your memories"

Filo expression changed. He look at her with sympathetic face. Fiora was the one who taking care of the

chicken and tend the vegetables around the house. Even flowers. She was also the one that did the most

cooking. However.. Filo remembered the apple pie that Fiora used to make and his body shudders.

Fiora blinks her eyes.

"So.. you are my friend, too? Like Edric."

"What? No. Who would want to befriend a weird girl like you? Even-"

"Weird?! You dared to call me a weird girl?"

"Huh? W-why not! Everyone been calling you a freak too. And you smells!"

Fiora already grabbed his collar line. Her face look irritated.

Filo gaped. Fiora is supposed to be a quiet girl who will just look at the ground even when other young

people make fun of her. Fiora was easily bullied by others. And she also had weird hobby of collecting

strange things that she found from the Red Forest.

A forest that's considered as a creepy place by the villagers. The forest that making all weird sort of

sounds at night. The parents forbid their child from stepping into that forest since ages. It's also said that

there's wild wolf and tiger roaming inside. But strangely Fiora always go in there and come back

unharmed. But she never tell anyone about what she saw or experience in there. However to Edric and

her family, Fiora is just a girl that enjoy nature. And she always sneaked out to go even her parents also

reluctant.

Filo is running after a hen. Fiora has punched and threatened him. She even make him chase after one

of Han's chicken. While Fiora is sitting at the bench in front of her house, watching him.

'It surely feel better to be the one that give order'

Fiora shakes her leg lazily. Beside her there's already some vegetables that Filo picked up earlier.

"Miss Fiora, I caught it" Filo is sweating and his clothes is dusty. Fiora even make him to call her as Miss

Fiora..

"Good work" Fiora grab the chicken and pat his shoulder. Filo flinched.

Fiora is no longer a weak girl. Filo cheek's still feel hurt from the punch. Filo touch his left cheek. The

swelling make his face look chubbier. Even Filo is also a weakling but Fiora was worse. Fiora was only a

bit lucky whenever Edric is around. Edric protect her like a mad brother. So others won't pick on Fiora in

Edric's presence.

"Hey Chub"

"Huh? B-but my name is Filo.." Filo stammered.

"Come over at evening."

"Um.. I have errands to do. So i-"

"To eat the best chicken you will ever taste"

Filo's eyes sparkled.

"Sure! I feel happy that you invited me"

Fiora nods. She grab the vegetables from the bench and head back inside her house, leaving Filo

standing outside.

'Wait.. Can she really cook the best chicken?"

Filo shrugged. Feeling a bit regret for agreeing to eat Fiora's cooking.

'It shouldn't be that bad as the apple pie, right?' Fiora used to give apple pie to Filo's mother as a

gesture of gratitude after Lina helped her mother. However they never finish up the pie. It was horrible.

Fiora rolled her sleeves. She wash and cut the chicken. She's used to handle the chicken. No, she's

rather an expert in any cuisine based on chicken. She coated the chicken with the flour and spices that

she prepared earlier. Then she proceeded to cut some vegetables to make some salad. In the pot, the

potatoes is boiling.

"Hahaha nothing can beat this"

Fiora laughed in satisfaction. The food combination is perfect. She took out the freshly steamed bun.

The sweet aroma filled her nose.

After done cooking, she keep aside a portion. And bring them to the injured noble.

"My name is Odel Marquis, from Wight city. I'm the second son of Marquis family"

"No wonder.." Fiora play with one of her gold coin with her fingers. Flipping it over and over. She don't

actually need to hear his introduction. She already know everything from the book. But to avoid calling

his name in future, even though he didn't tell her his name. It will cause some misunderstanding and

Odel might find it hard to trust her.

Odel stare at the food that she brought him. They are very weird looking. 'What is this thing?' Odel

poked at mashed potatoes covered in sauce. Then he look at the golden crispy chicken. He gulped his

saliva. All the food emitting a tasty aroma. He grab the most inviting looking chicken and munch.

Munch munch munch..

Odel keep looking at the drumstick and bite and stare at it again and bite.

'This is the most tasty chicken! Even better than Chef Tania's!'

"Miss your cooking is very-"

Odel look around him. Fiora is no longer in the barn.
