How The Hell Am I Supposed To Get Any Use Out Of These Powers!?

My full attention was directed at the giant wheel that was situated a couple of meters in front of me. The Chinese girl, whose name I wasn't 'worthy of knowing', was also looking at the wheel with an expression of excitement. Oraine picked up on our enthusiasm and proudly announced

"Well, let our power deciding session begin! This program is made available thanks to our company Godly Works Inc. Today's session is sponsored by 'We have money, so we decided to start a company but don't really know what to name it Inc.', they make some of the greatest 'Soul-cleansing' soda one coul----"

I interrupted the mad woman

"We're not here for you to make some extra money! Now spin the damn wheel."

The girl nodded in agreement and Oraine sighed in disappointment. She thought quickly inside her head

- There goes the 2000 Soul Coins I could've made. Damn you two!-

Oraine unenthusiastic-ally said

"Riight. Let's go, Markus turn first."

Oraine walked up to the wheel and prepared to spin it.

- I'm so excited right now! It's pretty easy to assume that one's going to get the OP powers. But just in case, I'm going to wager all of the luck I didn't use when I was alive on this moment! Well, it's more of a mental bet than something that's actually real, but whatever.-

There were 6 slices on the wheel and they went in an order of size from biggest to smallest

1. The 'Not bad'-powerset was the biggest slice of them all.

2. The 'Elemental master'-powerset was the second biggest

3. The 'Spatial traveler'-powerset was the third biggest.

4. The 'Lucky and happy'-powerset was the 4th biggest and at this point, it was getting quite small.

5. The 'Legendary Hero and OP collection'-powerset was the 5th biggest and was really small.

6. The 'A collection of… Let's say, 'Different' and 'Obscure' powers'-powerset and was the smallest out of all of them. It was really small, so the chances of getting that one was minuscule.

I looked at the 5th slice practically drooling.

Oraine dragged the wheel and started spinning the wheel. Time started moving slower and I could almost see in slow motion.

*Tic Tic Tic*

The wheel spun and spun until starting to slow down. I looked at it in a state of awe. The wheel was really close to stopping and it was currently on the 'Legendary Hero and OP Collection' slice.

"YES! Yes! I'm gonna be OP, I'm gonna be OP..." I started chanting while making a really stupid dance to go along with it.

But, things weren't going the way I wanted to. The wheel went over to the 6th slice in the nick of time. I was too busy dancing to notice it. Oraine looked at the results in shock, but she had a job to do so she started announcing the results

"Congratulations, you got the smallest slice." She said dryly.

I froze in my tracks and slowly said

"Haha, what do you mean 'smallest'? The legendary one is the 5th one..."

I slowly and unwillingly looked up towards the wheel to see with my own eyes the atrocity.

And there I saw it, the 6th slice; ' A collection of… Let's say, 'Different' and 'Obscure' powers'.

"No way… I got the worst powers. It was the smallest chance, too..."

I stared at the wheel like a husband would look at her wife if he saw her cheating with someone. The amount of disappointment was too much for me to handle.

"Now, now, it doesn't say anywhere that they're the worst. They're just 'different' and 'obscure'." Oraine tried to comfort me.

"What!? That's just an overly-nice and formal way of saying 'They suck', I'm not that stupid."

I fell down to the floor in despair.

Oraine moved on to the other girl

"Ignore him, he's just a bit shocked. Let's move on to you now!"

I could feel the girls cold glare at my neck

"How pitiful, you really thought that you would get the most powerful one?" The girl said to me in a cold tone.

"Don't kick me while I'm down! I already pity myself because of this!"

The girl stood up from her chair and walked to me, she then proceeded to kick me in the arm.

"Stop taking what I say literally! You two have some serious problems." I said in a sad voice.

Oraine interrupted and quickly said

"Enough, let's spin and get this whole thing over with."

She then spun the wheel once again. This time, time didn't slow down for me I just didn't really care.

- Dammit! Was all of my luck only worth that much? Or was my luck too much and I ended up getting the, on paper, rarest powerset? I don't care which one it was! The result is the same anyways. -

The girl was looking at the wheel with a childlike shine in her eyes.

- Damn her too. I'm not 'worthy' of knowing your name? Bullshit. I'm pitiful for hoping that I could get something really good? Bullshit. If I'm going down here, I'm bringing her down with me. -

I looked at the wheel with a mischievous smile on my smile. I awaited the perfect moment to strike, the wheel was about to stop on the 'Elemental master' slice.

- No, you don't! -

I stood up and ran as fast as I could towards the wheel.

"DAMN IT ALL!" I screamed while running.

Both of the people froze and stared at me in confusion. But Oraine soon unfroze, but instead of stopping me she just sighed in a disapproving manner.

I grabbed the wheel and started rolling it to the one I wanted.

I put it on the 6th slice and was quickly dragged back by 'The Girl'.

"What're you doing!?" The girl yelled at me.

"Haha, don't mess a person who has nothing to lose like me!" I said in an excited tone.

Suddenly, a loud voice could be heard

"Interruption detected. Re-calibrating 'The Wheel Of Powers'"

After the voice finished talking, the wheel turned a bit and ended up landing on another slice.

The girl looked at the wheel with tears of joy in her eyes.

I stared at the wheel and fell into a deeper hole of despair.

The wheel had re-calibrated to the 5th slice: 'Legendary Hero and OP collection'!

The horror I saw plunged my mental state into further depths of pain. I started pinching my cheek to see if I felt anything.

Nothing…

"Haha, I understand… This is all a dream!" I said with a smile on my face.

"That's not really how it---" The girl said but got interrupted by me who said

"Quiet you! This is a dream, so I can do whatever I want to!"

I started sprinting towards the girl with a lewd intent.

The girl covered her chest with her hands with a terrified face. Oraine simply sighed once again.

Instantly, a feeling of 1000 tasers all tasing me at the same time was felt. The feeling was extraordinarily excruciating and my body rocked back and forth vigorously for a couple of seconds before dropping to the ground.

"What happened?" I said when I finally woke up.

"That was the punishment for sabotaging the wheel of powers. You okay?" Oraine said, who was standing in front of me in an explaining pose. She reminded me of my English Teacher. I scanned the room while scratching my head. I noticed that 'The Girl' was looking away in an awkward way.

I looked at her and a guilty feeling whelmed up.

- Should I apologize? That was really uncalled for, the wheel-thing. It must've also been pretty scary when I ran with such an ugly face. -

I was going to walk up to her, but hesitated.

Oraine slapped my back gently and quietly said

"Go ahead."

I took that as enough motivation to do it. I walked up to The Girl and tapped her shoulder gently. The Girl twitched a bit and looked at me with a scared face.

- Don't look at me like that… I'll feel like actual shit. Something bad must've happened for her to react like that.-

I bowed deeply and loudly said

"I'm Sorry! What I did and what I tried to do was wrong! Are you able to forgive me somehow? I wasn't really in the right mind after the events that occurred before."

I looked up to gauge her reaction. The Girl smiled and said while half-laughing

"Haha, look at you. You're prostrating in front of me, just what I would expect from someone like you..."

"What!? That was overly mean, I really meant what I said."

The Girl responded, this time really quiet

"I do appreciate you saying that though… No one did that in my previous life..."

I didn't hear what she said so I said

"Did you say something? You were really quiet."

The Girl started blushing and yelled

"Nothing, shut up! Let's go now."

I threw my hands up in the air and slowly said

"Ok…?"

Oraine was standing in front of in that same teaching pose. In front of me and The Girl was a strange platform with some warm blue lights on the edges of it.

- Talk about some weird technology they have access to here in the heavenly domain. This looks like it belongs on an 80s Sci-fi show. -

Oraine started explaining

"Before we send you over there, I am obliged to mention a couple of things. First, a bit of info about the world you're going to enter. The country you're most likely going to spawn into is the "Ouest Heskia" country located to the north-west of the world. The world, in general, has a lot of active conflicts and Ouest Heskia is not an exception to this. They're currently at war with their neighbor to the right; The Chosen Empire. Ouest Heskia used to be the biggest province of the country, but seceded from the Empire in protest to the way that the rest of the Empire treats Demi-humans. The Empire, of course, declared a war to reconquer the territory. I'm telling you all this because the war has an impact on how you'll live your life, It's also one of your missions; to conquer all of the Empire's territory. I say mission, but it's pretty non-mandatory. But if you complete it, you'll get a very big sum of Soul Coins.

Secondly, you must be with each other for at least two months. So you can't abandon your partner, not immediately at least. You will also be getting a sort of UI to use for a variety of things, it has a level system and you're able to check things like your skills and statistics.

During the time that Oraine talked, she had moved around us and upon finishing up; She pushed both of us on to the platform.

"What the---" The both of us reacted.

"Have fun now!" Oraine said and waved with her hand.

Suddenly, a blue light surrounded all my vision and we were transported.

*Zooooom*

I was suddenly in a huge grass field. The sun was high up in the sky, quite a difference from what I saw when I died. The grass was blowing eastwards in an intense way.

I also noticed 4 relatively big buttons in each corner of my vision. I looked at the bottom-right corner and a text box popped up in front of it that said "Skills". I pressed the button quickly in an impatient manner.

The punch this ability allows hurts the recipient a lot, but doesn't actually do any damage. Basically gives the recipient 'phantom pains'. Condition: The user also feels the pain, but only 50% of it.

'Good Merchant';

Makes people around you think that an object you're selling is worth more than it is and will be willing to buy it. Condition: You must have done one backflip, two front flips, and 30 sit-ups that day.

More abilities will be unlocked as you level up.
