I want to be an adventurer

-Days later-

I have been thinking ever since my training with Arla and have thought about it. I want to become an adventurer. I have been bored and think I have the potential for it.

Poor excuse for wanting to be an adventurer but I think I want to make a difference as well. Might as well give it a try and do something.

I head over to Mr. Uchida's to ask about heading to the adventurers guild in Arcadia with Arla. Or anyone that wants to go.

"Hey Mr. Uchida?"

"Well ain't it the hero again of the Hazens! Haha never gets old"

"Yeah well it sort of have gotten old...Been a few days since that event where I saved Lilith it isn't a big deal now"

"Now you defended the honor and the purity of another from a fiend. That is a great achievement boy! It shows courage and bravery as well as a hint of stupidity to tie yourself up and fight another."

"Well anyways, I was thinking do you think I could become an adventurer? I think I have the potential to become a great one."

"Hmm, perhaps. I can send for a carriage to take you down to Arcadia if you like and you can enlist with them. Or whatever they call newcomers to be an adventurer."

"Thanks! I'm going to go tell Lara and Yua."

-minutes later-

I spend some time searching for Yua and Lara and find Both of them eating in Lara's room for a moment. But before I can knock on the door I hide because I hear them mention my name. They re talking about me? Wonder what it is?

"Honey it is okay to have these feeling's about him"

"B-but mother he is like a brother and yet isn't my brother! I just can't have these feelings about him constantly inside me"

"It is okay honey, he says he wants to be your companion and he likely will. When that day comes it is your choice if you will accept him as yo companion. Alright?"

So they are speaking about me becoming her companion? Huh been a while since I thought about that. I haven't forgotten but man been a while. I guess it is my queue to walk in now.

*knock knock* "Can I come inside?"

"OH of course honey! come inside I can wait outside for this"

No need it is for both of you to hear. I am thinking of becoming an adventurer and planning to head out to Arcadia to see the guild. Wanted to tell you guys this and also have you blessing."

"Why of course you can do this! Your a strong independent man now! And also soon to become likely Lara's companion no less hehe!"

M-mother! How could you say that? I haven't even gotten to speak to him privately about it"

I can tell she has red cheeks from this conversation but she is so adorable when she is mad. Might as well tease her a bit.

"Why of course I will become her companion. I said I would and shall one way or another! I also shall ask her hand in marriage afterwords and complete the set and conquer your heart!"

"W-what!?" Lara exclaimed with red cheeks in a blushing manner

"OH! I knew you two would be the perfect match eventually!"

"M-mother! Stop!"

"Ho ho ho! How adorable isn't she?" says Yua

"Indeed. But anyways I will be heading off soon and wanted to say my goodbyes for now. I will also ask Arla to accompany me since she has been a former adventurer herself and likely knows the in and outs of the place and organization.

"Very well. I wouldn't feel comfortable with you being alone anyways. Meanwhile, Lara will be going through her own training while you are gone, Coda."

"Oh really? What kind of training?" I ask

"Katana training"

So she is learning martial arts as well. Maybe she will join us after a while. Who knows maybe we can become a trio, the lizard, the maid the samurai. Ha!

Sounds like a trashy band name of some sort even. But regardless I wouldn't mind such an idea. I am already heading to Arcadia after years. I am so excited to see the sights as I did when I was younger. Seems only yesterday I woke up. Not really obviously.

-2 days later-

"Hey Coda!" Mr. Uchida calls from downstairs

"Yeah?!"

"Cariage has arrived finally!"

"Awesome! I mean thank you!"

I got my stuff packed which is an assortment of clothes, food, and information paper about myself. I will need to get an official Adventurer's id card in order to become an adventurer otherwise I would be classified as a vigilante which is sort of a bad thing in a way. But whatever I think I got this.

I bring out my bags out of the house with about 3 bags. Two in my hands and one under my arms. I load it up in the back of the cart. I wait for Arla but she doesn't come out yet.

I wait for a little longer but she still doesn't come out. I decide to walk back inside and go to her room downstairs to check on her.

As I move through the house I groans and walk downstairs. As I head down there I notice she is struggling to lift up 3 of her bags all at once. She seems so strong when we fight but it seems she doesn't have that kind of strength.

I move downstairs and make my precense known. "Hey ya need help Arla?"

She looks up to me but shakes her head no. "N-no mas-I mean Coda...I can handle this don't worry just wait at the carriage."

Yeah she is just being a maid. She needs my help. I move farther down and pick up the 2 bags on top which are easily picked up. Caiman strength for you.

"Thank you ma-Coda... I am not physically strong like that sadly."

"It's fine, as long as you do your part we are fine. Let's go up."

We both head upstairs she holding a single suitcase while I carrying 2 heavier ones on over my shoulder.

As we make our way to the carriage we load up her stuff and we are finished. That should be everything now.

"Okay. So you ready?" I ask

"Yes. Let us move to the city"

"Goodbye Uchida Family! We will be heading off now!"

"Ha farewell boy!" Mr. Uchida exclaims with jolly tone

"Goodbye honey be safe!"

"Bye! But dont let your self get in trouble hmph!" Lara says with a smug

"We won't!" I respond

We load our selves into the carriage and close the door. I wave goodbye for however long we will be gone for. Hopefully not long.

The carriage starts moving and we make our way to Arcadia.

-10 minutes later-

I get bored of looking out of the window and check out Arla. She is still beautiful in her maid outfit with brown hair freely flowing down her shoulders.

She notices me and stops reading her book for a moment and smiles my direction. She moves her hand down her dress and lifts it up exposing her legs which makes me blush. I look away in embarrassment.

She likes toying with me doesn't she...But I guess it is fun too.

I decide to go along with it and lift up my shirt a bit exposing my abs. She widens her eyes and blushes with red cheeks. Ha! Got her.

I let my shirt fall back down and look back outside the window. Staring at the passing trees.

- 1 hour later-

I seem to have fallen asleep. I woke up slowly to a bumb on the road waking me up. Then emediantly a healt in the cart. This throws me forward a bit. That's what seat belts are for.

I look outside the window and see a group af men outside the window. They are lightly armored what what apears to be cloth and parts of leather armor on there chests. Are these bandits?

I look at Arla and she has a sour look on her face looking out the window. She thinks it might be bandits to I bet.

"Hey out of the cart!" one of them calls out.

We both ignore it at first but then see the cart driver outside held to the sword by some of them as a hostage.

I feel we need to comply or he will get hurt. I open the door and walk out with my hands raised up showing I am unarmed. Arla sighs but does the same thing.

We both walk out and have our hands raised. One of the thugs eye Arla for a moment and licks his lips. Gross ass...He better not touch her.

"Haha! Look what we got here? An odd couple huh? Lizard boy and a maid! Not a sight you would think. And she is an elf too even better!"

Some of the other thugs laugh and start agreeing. They are all barbaric! I will not let a single one of them touch Arla with there dirty hands.

One of the thugs walks up to Arla to close for comfort and touches her face which she doesn't respond. Do something Arla!

"Hehe! Docile. She gonna be a fun piece of meat!"

That finally snaps me and I lunge forward grabbing the arm of the thug and twisting it around his body easily and pushing him away.

"Stay away from her!" I snarl

"Eh?! I'm gonna enjoy getting rid of you boy. Come on guys get him!"

I start backing up and count the number of heads about six of them. I take out the first on by kicking him right in his stomach with all my might causing him to go flying 3 feet backwards. My physical strength is superior to that of a human I remember.

the second one comes at with a sword-swinging wildly at me missing the first two attacks. I dodge his third swing, grab the handle and twist it out of his hand and head butt him away from me.

I look at Arla and she seems to be fighting the other three on her own as well. However looking at her distracted me to long and something sharp hits me.

*Fwoosh* I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my chest and realise I have been shot with an arrow and it hit my chest! I dodge the next two but it hurts to move now.

"Agh! Shit! Damn it!" I groan running behind a tree.

Another harrowing goes flying by the tree but no others are shot. I feel the arrow in my chest digging in deeper every time I move. I want to pull it out but that will cause bleeding. Last thing I want. I take a Bush and lift it out from the roots and chuck it towards the archer causing his to stumble back losing his grip on the arrow firing it wrong.

I take this as my chance and run out of cover and run at him. I use the sword I have and throw it towards the archer hitting him in the leg opening his legs to a wound. He falls down and start screaming

"Agh Ah!" he yells

I run over to Arla to check on her and she seems to be fine. She has her 2 thugs dealt with and deals with her last one by doing a hook kick into the head of the thug as I arrive.
