What's Needed To Pass

Now that Barry sees a new problem in front of them, he can't help but feels frustrated. He grinds his teeth, his eyes stare between the front of the car that he can't pass and the back where there is a certain danger waiting.

"Shit."

Barry decided to return to his car and told Elaine and Victoria to get out of the car. Then he told Danny to take Anna out to discuss in front of the barrier.

They all started to touch the barrier one by one and felt a solid invisible wall blocking them from leaving.

"What is this?" Elaine asked, not to anyone in particular.

"I have no fucking idea what that is. But what is clear is that it prevents us from getting out," Barry said.

"But why?" Anna asked.

Barry looked at her then shook his head.

They were all silent in their own thoughts. Confusion surrounds their minds who are unable to understand what exactly is going on. 

Are they just going to die here when the black thing comes to them? Because Barry knows for certain that they won't be able to kill that thing, even if they fight together.

He hasn't even used Insightful Gaze to that thing. Yet, he knew that thing was above their level of power now.

Barry let out a long sigh. After no one knew what to do and they were just silent for a few minutes, finally their answer came.

[Kill the Essence of Destruction. And you will be able to pass. ]

That red, translucent text appeared in everyone's vision. Like a striking warning of unknown existence. An existence is observing them from an unknown place.

They all immediately realized that they were all seeing the same text from the obvious expressions on each other's faces.

"What is this supposed to mean?" Elaine asked, dumbfounded.

Barry sighed. Then said. "There's no other way to understand it other than we have to kill the thing that fell from the crack."

"It says 'Essence of Destruction'. Did you think… That was that thing?" Danny asked while looking at Barry.

Barry gave him a nod in response.

"Fuck!" Elaine cursed while placing her hand on her head as if her head could explode at any time. "How the fuck are we supposed to do that? You think we have a chance?"

She asked Barry. But Barry couldn't give her a calming answer as always.

"I don't think we can fight it," Barry said.

Everything that has happened up to now makes Barry believe that he can at least overcome it to a certain extent. Especially if he is careful.

With his skills, Barry can feel calm because he is sure he can fight all threats in front of him. He was sure that whatever was in front of him would not be at a much higher level than him.

Until now, when Barry finally saw it with his own eyes. That black thing – the Essence of Destruction – that came out of the crack in the sky, is beyond his capability.

'Is it possible that we can hide until the other survivors kill it?'

But then he doubted his own thoughts. He felt that at this time it was very likely that all of the survivors in this area would not have a level higher than them. Therefore, they are not much better.

Suddenly, when he was pondering over it, another red text reappeared in his vision.

[ The Shard of ??? is reacting to the Piece of ??? ]

Barry frowned. The last time that thing appeared was when that black thing appeared in the crack. Does that mean that thing is near them now?

"Hide!" Barry said to his companions. The urgency in hi voice made them all immediately panic. "There's no time to take the car. We have to go now!"

So, they left the car and immediately ran towards the forest next to the road. They ran deeper into the forest with the help of flashlights.

Barry was behind them. Every now and then he turned to see if the black thing was there. But fortunately, it's still not there yet.

They stopped in the middle of the forest and turned off their flashlights. Nobody said that hiding in the forest at night was a bad idea. They know that but don't have any other choice.

*THUMP!*

*THUMP!*

*THUMP!*

A moment later they heard something land and walk from where they had come. From its sound, they immediately knew that whatever it was, its size was big.

They were immediately convinced that it was the black thing that Barry and Danny saw.

The giant thing seemed to suddenly land after just flying. Knowing that the black thing could now fly made their fear even greater.

Suddenly, Barry got something that made his previously lost hopes come back.

[ Do you want to use the Shard of (???) ? ]

Barry blinked a few times. 'What does that mean? How to use it?'

Barry was immediately eager because it looked like something that would help them.

No other explanation comes. Meanwhile, the sound of thumping in the distance could be heard getting closer as real terror.

So, Barry said to whoever was in his head.

'I'll use that shard! Whatever that is.'

After he said that suddenly a blue and white portal appeared next to them.

"What happened?" Elaine asked in surprise.

Barry could only see one possibility. "It looks like, we should go in there."

"What?"

Their gazes all seemed to convey the same confusion.

"I don't see any other choice. Listen, I used an item I got after killing a giant zombie and the portal appeared. So, I think the portal will help us," Barry explained.

"Alright," Elaine said. "I don't see any other option either. That thing is coming closer so we better get in quickly!"

The thumping suddenly stopped, making them worried. A moment later they felt a gust of wind from above them.

When they looked up, they saw an enormous black creature looming above them.

"GET IN NOW!" Barry shouted.

"Shit!" Victoria cursed as she jumped into the portal. The other immediately followed her.

Meanwhile Barry stood up and used his Gravity Manipulation when he saw that giant black thing swooping towards them.
