I walked slowly to my dad's room filled with anger and vengeance. My head ached leaving a strong scent of blood in my nose.
My eyes whirled around as I tried to understand what my dad had just done. I always knew he was a loud and disciplined man, but I didn't know him to this extent.
Why did my dad raise his hand at my mom? Or was it a bluff? Those questions flew around in the air but all were left unanswered.
Whatever my dad had just pulled, it made me develop hatred towards him. I clenched my fists as I advanced towards the door, hatred enveloping me. I reached the wall beside his door and leaned on it.
'I can't do anything to my dad!' I told myself, gradually falling to the ground. For some reason, I had a firm belief that my parents were always right but this time, my father was wrong.
I squatted beside the wall in utter despair as tears were about to burst from my eyes. I knew that if I cried, all I would become was weak and eventually I would fall asleep.
It was a bad habit of mine that left me vulnerable anytime I was in a state of sadness.
I sat beside the door laden with sorrow as I constantly pounded on the wall in anger. My lungs expanded and I took a deep breath, fiercely impacting my fists on the wall.
"That's my last punch," I thought, only for my anger to be reignited by my dad's appearance.
He opened the door, but this time, gently. I looked up at him as I slowly stood up, cleaning the little tears that welled up in my eyes.
"Let's go," he said as he walked towards the entrance.
My mom was nowhere to be spotted. All that was in the building was a space and the echoing sound of a Korean movie. She had probably cried herself to bed and I wouldn't blame her.
I shoved my feet on the ground as I reluctantly approached a white Lamborghini just outside the door.
My dad was a rich man who worked at a government company. The company paid him a lot. Taking only one look at my house would leave you dazzled. To top it off, my dad was a man of fashion, wearing the newest clothes and purchasing the most expensive shoes.
"Look at Dad flexing" I always told myself that anytime he would take me out.
But, this time was different. The usual grin I made accompanied by my carefree attitude had gone on fled. I was filled with nothing but emotions; despair, anger, hatred, and vengeance.
"Do you know where we're going?" My dad spoke in his deep tone bringing me back from my deep thoughts.
"Yes, Dad. Trust me I do."
At the time, my dad was enveloped in an ideology that spread across the whole country like a disease. The Reaper Academy's hire-ups had just issued a rule.
It wasn't a rule because if it was, I wouldn't have a choice of declining it. It was more like an advice. They encouraged parents of teenagers, ages 13-16 to start attending the academy before the year would end.
I remember watching a television program only to be disrupted by the silly announcement of those same hire-ups. They spoke concerning unusual paranormal activity and a sudden increase in Spiritual Intensity.
I got excited at the moment as I waited for the announcement to end so that I could continue watching TV. I had the urge to witness these paranormal activities, and to be honest, it was an obvious reason why I hadn't revolted as my dad drove me to the place.
I couldn't help but wonder how the academy was.
"Is it a fascinating building, or maybe a rundown one? Ooh, maybe it's even an invisible skyscraper that's protected by a barrier."
And just like any school, it was not invisible and wasn't a skyscraper. It was just a normal school setting with normal students, or at least I thought so.
The fascinating speed of the new Lamborghini transported my dad and I in little time. We alighted from the car and I flexed around it after seeing a couple of cute girls pass by me.
"Now that's something to look forward to," I thought as I slowly walked away from the car.
As a 15-year-old boy, it was normal to fall for girls, but mine was always rather quick. I stared and fell for any cute girl who passed by me. Girls I knew I wouldn't talk to because of how shy I was.
My dad walked to a small building situated beside the school and I followed my dad cluelessly. It looked like an enrollment department but I didn't understand how they would possibly enroll the large amount of teenagers that would arrive soon.
I looked at my dad from afar. A person in a blue uniform; an officer, handed over a bottle to my dad. I couldn't see it clearly because my dad's muscles were in the way.
It was long and thin, resembling a test tube. I felt like I would be injected with something but out of fear, I doubted my thoughts.
My dad walked away from the area, dipping his hands deeply into his pockets. I looked closer and the bottle I saw was two test tubes that had been joined together and in his left hand, I saw a syringe.
"How did I think those tubes were a bottle and how did I completely miss the syringe? I'm probably tired because the whole drama"
It was hard to make sense of the situation, especially considering that the sun just started to rise. Everywhere was quite cold and I felt a shiver accompanied by a large burst of wind.
My dad walked towards me like a final boss in a movie and walked me into the car. He locked the doors, quickly dipped the syringe into the left tube, and stabbed me in the neck with it.
"Dad, da- wha- you do?" I mumbled the words that could escape from my mouth as I lost control of my tongue.
"Was that a tranquilizer?" I thought hard as life began to fade away.
