Double Date

I looked at the dark golden mermaid-style dress with a fishtail skirt I was wearing in the mirror. It had a small sleeve and a round neckline which featured a tulle that gave it a small sexy touch. I had swept my hair up into a low bun and tossed in a couple of hair accessories for the special evening out, with Jada and Jonathan.

I was looking at the gold eyeshadow I put on with a soft eyeliner hoping it wasn't too much when Jada came bursting into my room.

"Aren't you ready yet?" She squealed. I looked at her. She had on a dark red v-neck dress with a daring split on the side that highlights her beautiful slender figure. It hugged her, showing off every sculpting shape of her body. It suited her slanted shoulders and slender torso with a wide waist.

I looked at her dark oil skin and her elbow-length, thick, medium-brown hair styled in decorative cornrows. She looked at me with her alert thin brown eyes and large lips. She was wearing a dark blush, black eyeliner, metallic eyeshadow, and a natural-looking foundation for highlights. She even went the extra mile to wear red stilettos and stud golden earrings, as a final touch.

"What? Is something wrong with me?" She started to panic.

"No, silly," I held her hand so she wouldn't ruin her makeup. "I'm just … astonished. You look beautiful."

"Really," she blushed. I knew Jada long enough, the last time she went the extra mile was when she was dating a guy for three years, sadly that ended and she had taken it hard.

"So tell me," I released her hand and placed mine on my chin to question her. "How long have you guys been dating?"

"What? I…" she paused to see my facial expression. She removed her gaze from me, guilt written all over her face. "It's been a year."

"A year?!" I couldn't contain myself.

"I have been meaning to tell you, I just…" the words spilled from her lips. I looked at her shocked. I knew we were distant since we felt college, but I thought it was just physical. I figured she had told me everything, but to keep her relationship a secret from me, this was a first.

"I'm sorry, I just… I guess didn't want to jinx it, after what happened between me and Isiah," she continued. It seems like she wanted to tear up.

"Hey," I grabbed her shoulder. "It's fine, I don't hate you for it. I'm just surprised." She smiled at me weakly. "No, wonder he was so comfortable around me, he must have thought I knew already," I said.

"Well, yea…," she fiddled with her hair, rolling her eyes. "Then, I had to explain to him." I shook my head and pinched her, as I turned to look back at myself in the mirror.

"Hey! What was that for?" She squirmed.

"For not telling me. Plus," I squinted my eyes at her smiling through the mirror. "You should be one paying for this dinner." She smiled and we both started to giggle. She leaned her chin on my shoulder

"You look sweet too, maybe we can find a double date," she suggested.

"Good god," I turned sideways to face her. "You haven't hooked me up, have you?"

"No," she said, waving her hand. "I knew you wouldn't agree to it, but nothing wrong with seeing someone and just dating them," she nudged me. I sighed.

I haven't been in a serious relationship for the past six years. I have dated and had fun, but none of them seem worthwhile. Jada was always looking and searching, saying you don't when your love will pass you by. However, I thought the opposite.

If I was the right, he would find me, like a bee looking for the right blossom. I would be sweet enough and he would shower me with love. Just like a messenger with a fountain of life and a messenger with love. Just colliding together, yielding pleasure and enjoying each other's ecstasy. However, I never found someone to match my taste. I kept on attracting flies and I kept on swatting.

"Maybe," I eventually replied.

"So… are you ready?"

"Yup." I turned to face Jada and pointed at the black stilettos. "I guess need to put on those."

Jonathan drove us in his luxurious car, which had fancy leather seats and was spacious. Jada and Jonathan had been whispering and beaming at each other in the front seat. I felt like the odd one in the back, but I did intend to enjoy my night.

When we reached the restaurant, the name was Old Spicy Oak Garden, and it was indeed lavish. Once I stepped inside, I automatically could hear the music playing at a moderate level and the laughter of a few customers. The restaurant's ambiance had a positive vibe and it elope my senses.

I stared at the undoubtedly one of the most outstanding and magnificent food establishments in the city. The quiet atmosphere, light-colored interior and its elegant, glamorous decor. A host approached Johnathan and then guided us to a table in the middle of the dining area. Where you could see a huge window letting the setting sunlight flood the room.

I noticed that modern chandelier lights were hung strategically across the room. The marble-tiled floor beneath me gives the restaurant a clean yet warm appearance. The restaurant itself seems fairly modern: leather seating, dark wood tables, and wine glasses were placed on each table. This place was quite exquisite.

We sat and mingled as the good backdrop of music helped us engage in our conversation. Each and every comforting smile the employees have on their faces with the soft music playing, always makes me feel relaxed. When I breathe in the aroma of the food, it always reminds me of how hungry I was.

It is almost as if we were famous in the building, due to Jonathan's presence nonetheless. I looked at them both, enjoying each other. Jada's face was filled with happiness and joy, and Jonathan's face was more or less the same. The excitement he got just making her happy was powerful from the feeling he had for her.

It was amazing actually, seeing their feelings. However the swelling of my brain of affection and adoration I was getting to me.

"So, how did you guys meet?" I asked them both. Jada blushed and Jonathan just smirked as he looked at her.

"Actually, years ago," he spoke.

"Ugh…" lost. Jada looked like she wanted to bury her face.

"We went to the same high school. She use to make fun of me for being an eighth grader while she was a freshman," he smiled.

"You didn't?" I looked at Jada.

"Well you couldn't blame me, he had these big goggle glasses and had on these huge braces," she squawked. My eyes bulged at her, Jada a bully? "I didn't bully him!" She squealed reading my thoughts.

"It was more of a tease. I thought he looked silly." Jonathan scoffed a laugh at her response.

"Really, silly?" She turned to look at him with love in her eyes.

"A good type of silly," she teased him.

"Anyways," Jonathan said as he pecked her lips. "I had a crush on her since high school. Despite her 'little tease', she would always trash-talker the rest of school to leave me alone. I grew fond of her, but lost contact when she graduated." Jada blushed the entire time, not even with Isiah did she ever turn dark purple like this.

"It seemed like luck when I met her where she was working as a receptionist. That's when I insisted we go on a date."

"Insisted?" Jada enquired. "It was more like I need your number, address, your social."

"Seriously?" I perked.

"Why not?" Jonathan said as he bite his bottom lip grinning. "There was no way I'm lose contact with her again." Kissing her cheeks.

I raced through my mind looking at them. Love and happy relationships affect the heart in many ways. Finding a person that you would like to enter into a relationship with makes life easier, happier, and almost blissful. I smiled. I was happy for them.

Maybe within the next course of days, I would tell them I would be finding a place. They need their space and I needed mine as well. This too much love would probably have me sick by the end of the month, especially their bedroom excitement.

I gently excuse myself to use the bathroom, giving them some room. I quietly asked one of the staff to point me to the bathroom which they did. I walked up a few stairs to turn to the left as instructed but I stopped midway through my shift. I thought my eyes were misleading me but there was nothing clearer than this.

They were both sitting in a long lounge chair with a table in front of them, enabling them easy access to touch one another. She looked like a model, leaving nothing to the imagination, with the skimpy dress she was wearing. She seemed to be trying to be the focus of attention for him tonight, nothing else should distract him.

I could see his hand dancing along her cheekbones, vitalizing her skin with his fingers as he tilted her chin to look at him. She returned his touch with a smile, a genuine one, I couldn't tell. The way he looked at her was more of dark lust and she seemed to be entranced by whatever he was whispering to her.

I stared at this man. Who seemed to be enjoying himself. Why was Mr. Hayes with this other woman and not his wife? Did she lie to me? No, she didn't, clearly remember how elated she sounded just saying those words to me. Yet here he was as if he was trying to be ensconced in the corners of this restaurant with another woman.

He leaned in to whisper more into her ears as she giggled. Then his eyes met mine and the rest of the room seemed to fade. I froze, realizing I was caught red-handed, as he continued to send jitters into her ears. He didn't remove his gaze, as he looked at me intently. I quickly recovered, turning left hoping he didn't recognize me.

I stepped into a huge empty bathroom. I braced myself over one of the sinks. I felt like my chest felt heavy. Great, I caught my boss cheating on his wife. Probably see me as a threat in office or means to an end. I exhaled. I hate being in the middle of squabbles, especially in the office.

Maybe he didn't see me, if he didn't I could pretend I saw nothing. I thought as I touched up my makeup. And if he did, I'll just address it the best way I can. I stepped out of the bathroom and walked. I hesitated for a moment to turn where I came. When I noticed a huge door, showing an immense oasis with a variety of flowers, trees, and bushes.

I remember Jonathan saying the restaurant had a garden. I walked towards it forgetting my troubles. The sun was gone and the sparkles of lights scattered through the plants giving a warm shine to the garden. The guests wander around, while some are seated along small wide cobblestone paths that lead between the brightly colored plants.

I could see why this place was popular. The inside was gorgeous but the garden was beautiful. I scrolled as I saw the tulips, the roses garden, and the exotic plants. There was even a gray stone fountain with a wide round base and a small peak at the apex of the fountain. This was tranquilizing and I felt my body was at ease.

"I thought my eyes were deceiving me," I swore I heard a glass break. As he ease into my peaceful place as he slithered to stand beside me. I closed my eyes wishing I was dreaming.

"Miss. Harrison, what brings you to such a place?" I gently opened my eyes and turned my face to look at him. To see his eyes as if they seemed to dance with the lights, like wildfire.
