Barely Breathing
The next three hours, Johan continued his exploration and unfortunately encountered a monster the same level as the Bloody Giant.
'Well, this is a fine pickle,' Johan thought wryly, 'trapped between a monster and a hard place.' His heart pounded as he eyed the hulking Tier 8 beast before him. He felt like a mouse before a cat, albeit a very large, very irate cat.
The beast lunged, teeth gleaming in the sunlight. Johan sidestepped, but the monster's tail followed, a sledgehammer hurtling towards him. He ducked and rolled, coming up to his feet just as the beast turned and roared at him, its hot breath reeking of decayed meat.
'Well, you could use a mint,' Johan thought, wincing at the smell. But his internal jesting couldn't distract from the reality of his situation. The beast was too fast, too strong. His ghoul was occupied elsewhere, dealing with the monsters' numbers that were overwhelming. 'I've got a bear by the tail, and it's not a teddy,' he admitted to himself.
