Chapter 3: Bored To Death

How lucky can one be to fall on a lifesaving miracle during their horrible dying process?

Lindiwe, the luckiest person in the cosmos alive, even without limbs, could still meet a true miracle that saved her life. But now that she is alive on a cloud capable of providing food that can sustain her for the rest of her life, there are still difficulties that come with living alone on top of a small, mysterious cloud the size of a private car.

The first problem is that Lindiwe has lost the sense of time. She can no longer tell if it is day or night as the space is illuminated by a strange light even without the presence of the sun.

She is not aware if she has been on the mysterious cloud for hours or days. She just sleeps and wakes up to see the same scene without any changes. This situation could drive any normal person insane.

Fortunately, even without the changes in weather in her vicinity, she keeps getting healthier each time she consumes the moist and spongy cloud. Another positive thing she experienced on the cloud is that her skin is getting cleaner and smoother as it glows with beauty and vitality.

Even without taking a bath, her skin smells nicer than when she applied cologne back on earth. Another weird thing is that she can no longer feel the need for number two. It is like the cloud she eats disappears entirely in her body.

As a cripple, these weird activities happening saves her from a lot of trouble, but she is not entirely happy about her living conditions.

The second problem is that Lindiwe lives with fear. She does not know where she is, who is out there, or what will happen if she falls off the cloud during her sleep.

The space is truly terrifying and silent, to the point where one can hear their hearts beating loudly like a drum and the sound of blood moving through their veins. But fortunately, the mysterious cloud emits a weird sound that is soothing and enjoyable to listen to. She is not that bothered by the silence in the cosmos that much though because of the comforting sound that comes from the mysterious cloud that makes her less anxious.

The fourth problem is that Lindiwe is crippled, and she can't limp around with her one leg on the cloud as she might fall from her small paradise. The cloud is too small to limp around, and she does not know what will happen to her if she falls.

The creamy white part of the cloud can magically provide her with temporary oxygen, hydration, and vitality for a long period. If she falls, she will certainly suffocate after a few hundreds of breaths.

Though she was heavily wounded, after consuming the cloud for a while, the wound on her chopped leg and arm finally closed, and she no longer felt pain, but, sadly, she could no longer have her lost leg and arm back.

The last problem is not even the least of her problems, as Lindiwe is bored. She is so bored that she could lose her mind at any moment.

She does not have a long time to live on the mysterious cloud, but she is getting so bored. She played imaginative chess against herself, she tried to call out the names and recall all the people she knew, she tried to recite the books she read during her days in university, she counted to one hundred thousand, she sang, she opened the breathing space suit and tried to fix it, she talked with the mysterious cloud without getting responses, and she finally spoke with herself while role-playing different characters.

Lindiwe was beginning to lose her mind because of boredom, and the depression was beginning to take over.

Waking up a little refreshed from boredom, Lindiwe is feeling a little better, and her plan now is to give names to everything she can see around her that is without a name. But unfortunately, she could only see two things around her. She could only see the white, mysterious cloud with golden spots and the endless, illuminated void.

"Ahem! Today, you guys are receiving official names from yours truly. Rejoice, my friends, because I will give you the best names in the universe." Lindiwe said with a smile as she looked above the void and down at the mysterious cloud.

"I will begin with you, my fellow lovely cloud. Since you are the benefactor who saved my life and provided me with endless delicacies, I will give you the most satisfying name ever. From today on, your name is Amaru. The part of your white, spongy body that tastes like milk and cheese is now called Purified Cheesemellow, and the delicious and sweet golden spots are now known as Divine Caramel from now on."

Satisfied with the names she gave to the clouds and her parts, she looked at the overwhelming void and thought for a while.

"The void, you are endless, and you always give me heebie-jeebies. But I fear that one day I will be devoured and lost in you forever, so I will give you the name that suits your terrifying endlessness. Looking at you, I feel like I am in a bottomless, deep ocean. From today onward, you will be known as the Eternal Gormandizer. I hope you are not offended by this name, as it took all my brain cells just to come up with it."

Lindiwe sighed with satisfaction, and her smile began to vanish from her face as she did not have a plan for what to do next. After naming her friends, the excitement diminished, and she had to face boredom for god knows how long again.

Depression is slowly building up, anxiety is triggered, and suicidal thoughts begin to pop into her mind. After all, she does not find joy in being alone and lonely, even with the miracle in her hand.

Lindiwe cried for the first time since arriving in the mysterious cosmos. She could not find joy in being alive anymore. She is so bored to death that she could just throw herself away from the mysterious cloud and fall to her death.

With sadness, Lindiwe picked up the Divine caramel and ate it. This delicious treat is the only thing that keeps her moving forward, and she could never get tired of its sweet taste.

Just as Lindiwe was about to make her final decision, she felt something shifting in her body and her soul just after she ate the Divine caramel. Like a newborn baby, she felt her senses intensifying and her body getting much stronger and fitter. Her mental state improved a little, and her eyesight was clearer than any spectacles that existed on Earth.

"What was that? What is happening to me? I..." The dumbfounded Lindiwe bellowed with puzzlement.
