" What are you trying to say?" I muttered as I sighed.

" Milady? Are you saying something?" Lily asked me. I forgot to mention, after our little talk, Ryan arranged a carriage for me to go back to the Duke's residence, and it was said that he suspected my aide in the whole application thing,, so she wouldn't go back to the Duke's residence with me until. His investigation was over. Because I was too exhausted to deal with him, I chose to quietly leave but if he thought that I would give in and not go to the military should I get accepted, he had another thing coming.

" Milady?" Lily called me again as she waved her hand in front of me.

" Oh, no. I didn't say anything." I answered.

" Alright, milady, but you do seem awfully distracted." She commented.

" Is it because of the fight you had with the Duke? Don't let it get to you, milady, madam(referring to my mother) always said that a marriage is a series of trials, and sometimes you win some, and sometimes you lose some." She continued

" Oh, no I'm fine. But by the way, who said that the Duke and I fought?" I asked

" Well, while waiting to escort outside the test zone, some maids mentioned it, they said that he appeared to be angry as he carried you in his arms." Lily said.

"But we didn't fight." I explained. Well, we didn't fight in public. I mean, Ryan went through all that trouble and carried me all the way to his office.

" Really milady? That's not what I heard. They said that looked so angry that some even thought that you would not make it out alive out of that center." She exclaimed.

Oh no, trouble. Rumors yet again. I had to dispel them before they got to be worse.

" That's ridiculous. He wasn't mad, I mean, why would he be mad."

" Well, they said that it was because you almost kissed a strange man." Lily said as she played with her fingers.

" Pardon? That's even more ridiculous, why would they make up such li-" Oh, now I remember, when I tried to feed that soldier medicine, they thought that I was trying to kiss a stranger?

" Milady?" Lily urged me to explain as I had stopped half way.

I sighed, " Anyway, they shouldn't accuse people like that. I did no such thing, and the next you know, all these rumors would have spread to my mother and the rest of the family."

" Ahem..." Lily exclaimed as she avoided eye contact.

" Don't tell me my mother ready knows of such rumors?" I asked shocked.

" No, no, milady not her.It would take.days for news to travel all the way to.the marquess's house."

" Then who?" I asked after breathing out of relief.

" The previous Duke, Master Evans. He requested your presence in his office as soon as you arrive." Good gracious, I thought I had dodged a problem only to be faced with another.
