39. Death of a Brother

Approaching Fang Yang, he raised his sword high into the sky, preparing to cleave him completely in half. But right before the man could strike down, the aura around Fang Yang suddenly changed.

The man's instincts suddenly roared, desperately warning him to back off. But now it was already too late.

"Roar!"

The world-shaking war cry of the corpse puppet erupted across the battlefield, freezing everything in its place.

With the cultivation of the man, the corpse puppet's war cry was only enough to stun him for a split second, but with how close he was to Fang Yang, a split second was all that was needed.

The second Fang Yang heard the familiar war cry, he used his Ghost Spirit steps, causing his body to flicker forward like an ethereal ghost.

The knife in his hand drew a clean arc as he moved past the man.

The untrained eye wouldn't be able to even see what happened, but they could still know that the attack was effective once they saw a deep, blood red line drawn across the man's entire neck.

The man turned around to look at Fang Yang, clutching his neck in both despair and disbelief.

He looked forward as he desperately tried to stop the profuse bleeding, but it was futile.

No matter what he did, the blood continued to pour through his hands as he felt his world start spinning as his vision grew darker and darker.

Falling to the ground the man took one last look up to get a glimpse at what would be the last thing he saw in this life and all he was greeted with was the emotionless cold eyes of Fang Yang that seemed to Pierce through his very soul.

It was at that point that one last thought flickered through his fading mind.

'Fighting that man…. That was definitely a mistake…'

That was the last thought the man took in this world before he was pulled into the endless embrace of death as his soul disappeared.

Looking at the blood-stained knife in his hand and at the cold corpse drenched in a pool of its own blood, Fang Yang's heart was calm without any waves.

He felt absolutely nothing.

For him, it was like he was stepping on a bug. Watching a man's life slip away by his hands he felt no moral stain on his heart.

Forgetting about morals, even if we remove the fact that this was his attacker and replace it with any other random person, Fang Yang felt like he would feel the same thing no matter who was placed there.

Realising this Fang Yang couldn't help but frown.

Could he really feel nothing if someone was killed with his own hands?

This simply wasn't normal.

It had to be known that back on earth Fang Yang couldn't even watch gore videos without feeling queasy or sick, but now that he had taken a life with his own hands but somehow he felt nothing.

No pleasure, no joy, no rage, not even the slightest feeling of accomplishment.

He felt absolutely nothing.

The more Fang Yang thought about it, the more he realised that this couldn't be the mind of a normal person.

This problem appeared to be something much deeper.

But despite the confusion, Fang Yang still realised that this wasn't the place to be thinking about such things. Besides, in this new world, maybe it wasn't such a bad thing to be a little bit of a psychopath.

But although Fang Yang wasn't affected by the death of the man, the same couldn't be said for his two brothers.

Since this fight was the one which involved Fang Yang, the two brothers had been vaguely paying attention to it. It's because of this that they were watching and clearly saw as the corpse of their brother fell to the ground.

As Senior brother Li watched the body fall to the ground, his eyes burned with rage.

"Junior brother Liu!"

Senior brother Li wanted to come help and rush to the Jody of his brother but before he could move the ferocious fist of the corpse puppet caught him whilst he was distracted and slammed him straight into a wall

Whilst Senior brother Li's reaction was bad, the other man's reaction was even worse.

The second he saw this junior brother Liu die, he seemed to lose his mind.

"Arghh!! Brother! You actually killed my brother!"

Fang could see what looked like tears of blood streaming down his cheeks.

The man almost went berserk!

But he couldn't be blamed. The relationship between him and junior brother Liu was much closer than the one shared with senior brother Li. The two of them were actual blood brothers and, unlike Fang Yang who was a child that was recruited by the sect from the nearby towns and villages, he and his brother had previously been loose cultivators before they joined the sect.

Before they even got the chance to join the sect, they had gone through untold hardships and struggles, spilt countless amounts of blood and faced death several times, but through all that, they relied on each other and finally reached the point they were at now.

The day they had joined the sect and thrown behind the identity of a loose cultivator behind them, they had sworn that they would both work hard to become Foundation Establishment cultivators but now he saw this same brother lying down in a pool of blood as a cold corpse.

With such a close relationship, how could he not lose his mind?

The more he thought about the more enraged his mind became until he finally couldn't take it anymore and his rage exploded.

"Argh!! I'll kill you!"

The man didn't care about anything anymore. The only thing on his mind was taking Fang Yang's life, so what was the point in holding back?

Reaching into his space bag, Fang Yang saw the man pull out three talismans that had a faint red lustre around them.
