"I apologize. Am I not supposed to be aware of the situation?" Ann asked, puzzled.
"During our conversation, Mr. Go informed me that Mr. Tan is in a critical condition and urgently requires a blood transfusion. Surprisingly, my blood type is AB(-) just like Mr. Tan's.
If I am a match, I am more than willing to donate.
Isn't this the reason you asked me to be here?" Ann pretended to be unaware as she inquired, trying to gauge the situation.
Sophia's heart aches for her daughter. She fears she may not fully understand the extensive requirements for organ donation.
It's not just a matter of blood type compatibility; she must also be biologically related to the recipient.
She doesn't realize that Albert is her biological father. She's torn - should she reveal this truth to her, or let her remain unaware?
Sophia mused over this dilemma, weighing the pros and cons before ultimately choosing to wait for the opportune moment.
'It's possible that Ann might change her mind if she finds out the truth now. I can't take that chance at this moment, Albert's life is at stake.' Sophia was now in a bind, not knowing how to proceed.
"I completely agree with you, without a doubt! I specifically requested Jeff to bring you here because I know that you're the only one who can save Albert. You might be wondering how. As my daughter, I know that your blood type is rare. I really hope that you can put aside your grievances against me, even if it's just temporarily until Albert is out of the operating room and on the path to recovery. Once this urgent situation is resolved, I would really love it if we could find some time to sit down and have a heart-to-heart conversation, just you and me. There are so many things that I need to explain, and it's important to me that we clear the air between us. How does that sound to you?" Sophia was anxiously waiting for her to agree.
Ann sat there, lost in thought, carefully considering how to respond.
She found herself thinking she was not prepared to have a conversation with her mother just yet.
She still hasn't reached the level of success and recognition that Sophia has.
She needs to prove to her that she's grown and thrived on her own, that she didn't need her mother then and still doesn't need her now.
When she achieves everything she set out to, she'll stand tall and proud and have a heartfelt conversation with her
These were the unspoken thoughts deep within her subconscious.
Instead, she said, "I think what we need to do is take care of the matter on hand. The rest we can discuss later. What do I need to do right now? Mr. Tan is still not out of the woods and we need to act fast, don't you think so? Mother?" She said the last word so intensely that she left Sophia momentarily speechless.
"So, what do I need to do, and where do I need to go? Point me in the right direction so we can get this over with!" The way she said it was expressionless, making Sophia shudder immensely.
"Let me call the Director to take you to get a blood test to check for compatibility. Just wait here for a little bit, I will be right back." Sophia told Ann as she was heading to the door.
'I need to talk to the Director and instruct him on how to handle and what to say. It's not time for Ann to know that Albert Tan is her biological father,' Sophia thought to herself as she headed out the door. She needed to talk to him privately.
"Ms. Ann, please go this way!" Ann followed the same technician and hospital director who had taken Claudia's test before. "This will not take that long. Just a vial of blood and some saliva, and we should be good to go." The technician informed Ann with a big smile on his face.
'I do not doubt that this young lady is the actual biological daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tan. She's a carbon copy of Mrs. Tan, unlike that snotty Claudia. If she weren't dressed to the nines, she'd look like a common girl on the street.' The technician thought to himself.
"All done. You may go back to the VIP room to wait for the result. I will inform you as soon as possible if you're a possible candidate. This way, please." He said, pushing the door open and ushering Ann out in a rush.
As soon as Ann left, the lab technician quickly started the DNA and blood testing. They must have a result in a heartbeat; they were in an emergency right now. Every minute counted.
When Ann returned to the room, she noticed that Jeff, Ronald, and Claudia were all absent.
As soon as she walked in, her friend Lea quickly approached her and whispered, "Where did you go?" Concerned about being overheard, Lea pulled Ann into the corner of the room so that their conversation would not be heard by Sophia.
Ann's response was devoid of emotion as she recounted the experience of having to give a blood sample to determine if her blood was compatible for donation. Afterward, she gazed in Sophia's direction with a look on her face that was difficult to interpret.
"Are you serious? So, my hunch was correct, but how did the Queen Mother find out your blood type? Is there something you're keeping from me?" Lea's expression turned mischievous as she posed the question.
Ann gazed at Lea as she spoke in a knowing tone, "When the perfect moment arrives, I will confide in you before making a public announcement about something that should have been revealed long ago," Her eyes then shifted toward Sophia, who was standing across the room.
The room was draped in an eerie silence, so intense that it seemed to reverberate off the walls and pierce into the very souls of those present.
Each person sat with a heaviness in their hearts, their faces reflecting a mix of anxiety, sadness, and tension as they braced themselves for the impending announcement.
The air was thick with anticipation and dread, and every moment felt like an eternity as they awaited the imminent pronouncement of the outcome.
Sophia's calm demeanor stood out in stark contrast to the worried expressions on everyone else's faces.
She exuded a quiet confidence, a certainty about what was to come.
The impending revelation of the truth about her unknown father weighed heavily on Ann's mind, filling her with an overwhelming fear of the unknown.
The long-awaited moment had finally come. A palpable sense of anticipation filled the room as all eyes turned towards the entrance.
The hushed murmur of conversation ceased as the hospital director and the Lab Technician made their grand entrance, commanding the attention of everyone present.
"Ms. Sophia and Miss Ann, the test results are in. After conducting comprehensive testing, we have determined that there is an astonishing 99.9999% match. This indicates..." The director's voice trailed off as he looked at Sophia, his uncertainty evident.
Lea exclaimed in frustration, "What do you mean by 'match'?"
Ann interjected confidently, "You will find out soon enough!"
