Chapter 19: Punishment, Forgiveness

...Fay takes out the necklace given by the 2nd prince from his inventory space. It's very elegant and look so luxurious. He wore it and looked in the mirror."It's pretty". Wain commented."You won't believe it"."What?". Wain perked his ears.'THE second prince bought this for me'. Fay smiled at Wain, wanting to see if he is jealous."Are you serious? The second prince himself bought it for you? What??? How???"He told the story of a random chance meeting. And even included how his highness knows Amber. Aside from surprises about Amber, Wain is worried.That prince can't take Fay away from him!"Is he handsome?".Fay feels a little embarrassed because even his own heart fluttered."Yes...".'More than me?'."Emm... maybe many would think so but you are still the most handsome for me okay?". Fay look at the person he loved most with loving eyes. The prince is truly handsome but Wain is still the only one in his heart.Wain sulks at hearing this."Go to your prince, I am not your boyfriend anymore", Wain turned around and hid in his blanket."H-hey- you are still more handsome in my eyes".'In your eyes? She's just a normal girl living in a town with her parents and she sets to be independent. She is self taught in magic and she's just happened to be talented at it and she becomes an adventurer. I don't remember much but that's what he tells me once. Trevor and Wain should know more".They run their imagination wild. Elvis hometown is very far away. But that doesn't mean there's any secret. He really just felt bored staying in the all-natural home with trees and bountiful fruits."Fay... Why are you guys so cold to Trevor?". Lisa had asked this casually here and there but Fay always answered with 'There's nothing wrong?'.Lisa isn't stupid. It's obvious. Amber too noticed long time ago but she remained indignant about letting them settle their own issues."… I don't think, it's good to know. He made a mistake, and I just... want to move on and forgive him. He does feel guilty about things, and I felt guilty seeing him like that as well".Lisa looks at Amber. Amber looked at Lisa. They theorized and telepathically think about a possible scenario to each other. Fay went back to his room since it was late."Lisa. What mistake do you think he did?'.'Seeing Wain is so angry that he beat him up... Do you think it's because Trevor expresses his feelings to Fay?'. Lisa suggested"That's a bit... Over the top for that...". 'A bit' is an understatement. She knew how close they were before Fay joined in. And even Trevor's personality entirely changed at some point."Did Trevor... crossed the line...?".Amber pondered at Lisa's suggestion."Like, maybe he just went to kiss Fay or something". Amber thought about it. That actually makes sense.'I think that's possible...'. Because really, even Wain treats him like he doesn't exist. Honestly the environment felt so cold. During subjugation, they don't speak to each other at all. Although Fay still shields Trevor here and there with his portal when beasts attack with their limbs. But it felt like they are just being 'professional', as if Trevor is an outsider, they hired to do subjugation with them or an Earth Golem that Lisa made....A few weeks passes as usual with nothing to take note off.Fay noticed Trevor had just returned from his usual late-night drinking. Fay felt a bit, guilty if he is to be honest.Did he treat Trevor too harsh?He looked at him, stumbling by himself as he walked past him. Fay subconsciously catches him from falling. Trevor looked at Fay and quickly straightened his back and moved a meter away.'Sorry...'.Fay realised his own hand is slightly trembling. It felt uncomfortable to touch Trevor, but it wasn't so bad anymore. He did see and digested how Trevor did what he did because he likes him, sort of.'Just... Don't do it again...'. it's his first time speaking to Trevor after these 2 months.Trevor opened his eyes in surprise. He felt choking and sobbing.When Fay spoke those few words, it made him feel there's a chance for him to forgive him. He really feels hurt all these times. From guilt, and from being isolated. He had a thought to quit the party these days. It really hurts him badly to stay. Everyone hates him, his friends hates him. He felt really lonely.Fay finally takes a glance at Trevor, looking at his eyes for a second. He felt bad for Trevor.He does remember, how Trevor was. He can't say he's a villain or evil. He can't even say he's a bad person. He had always been a nice person. He remembers he teased him here and there. He remembers when Trevor gave him a cream donut for his birthday. When he tapped his shoulder so he turned to look, just to poke his cheek. Or other things. Trevor was a cheerful person before. He had been quite a teaser to Wain, like winking at him probably trying to make Fay stay the night before they started to date properly. Fay does notice.But now Trevor is just, quiet. Like some stranger. He became a different person entirely.It's just that he made a mistake. If he counts what's bad about him, it's only that one mistake he made. Otherwise, he is a nice person. Did he treat him too harshly... Is his reaction reasonable, or is it not? Fay did think about it. How long is too long?Not to mention he hasn't asked for his body back. Elvis ignoring it means he already knew.Fay felt his heart hurt seeing his friend like that… He should forgive him already.Another week passes. Fay had been thinking about forgiving him over and over again. His heart is ready to partly forgive Trevor. It's time to ask for his body back, and dispose of it properly. Trevor had been punished enough.He took the chance the next day to knock on his room. Trevor opened the door and felt surprised to see Fay."Hey... May I come in".Trevor is taken aback. He never expected it to be Fay..."Yeah...".Trevor stepped aside, and let him in. Elvis is not here it seems. Fay sees on the desk; an idol is being carved out of wood. It's a new hobby, he guessed.Fay looks at Trevor. Trevor doesn't even dare to look at Fay but he just stands there. Fay's hand is trembling a little. But he wants to forgive him. Fay went close to Trevor, even stunning him.Fay gave him a hug. A sincere hug.Even if his hand is shaking, even if his body feels uncomfortable, he wants to forgive him. Trevor doesn't understand. He had tears pooling in his eyes at this sudden gesture.'I will try to forgive you, alright...'.Trevor can only stand like a statue. He can feel Fay's hand shaking. More than 15 minutes passed while the three of them were standing.Fay looks at Trevor, getting blue balled looking at him with a pained and pleading expression."Zip it back up. I don't want to see it anymore". Fay said calmly.Trevor complied, and forcefully tuck it in.Trevor bit his lips. Fay is so cruel to him... He wanted to cry. After making him like this, Fay just won't let him finish it."This is my punishment for you". Trevor felt his heart, body, and soul hurt. But he admits it's a befitting punishment for his mistake of letting his lust overtake his morality. What Trevor did is too traumatising, that the only way he can truly forgive him is to give him the right punishment.Fay wants to absolve Trevor from his sin.Fay gave Trevor a hug."I forgive you.
