Chapter 7 - Take his stuff

WAKE UP!!!

"Huh?"

I feel so sleepy, but I wonder who is calling me? I look around as I laid on the floor, and spot a tiny blue figure of a hologram. I try to ask, but a migraine hits me, I felt weak again. I guess I didn't feel it as I woke up....

"stop ignoring me, we need to get out of here before they open the security door!!" the little figure yells, she has a petite figure with a bust, and a silver ponytail...thank you Cortana.

I look at her, and realize I'm still in the building with the dead covenant bodies. I try to get up but it's hard, I took a few minutes, but eventually stagger to the wall while dragging my backpack. I put my sniper rifle on my back as I wear the sling, and take a plasma pistol, and a regular pistol from my backpack. My AI sees me struggling, and motions for me to my backpack, "quickly, inject one from the medpac, we need to get out of here!". I follow her directive, and take out an injector, once I inject it I feel that cool sensation again. I feel a surge of strength, as it wakes me up. I feel myself gain back some of my strength, but still feel a little weak.

I put the med pack away, and head up the ramp to the exit, sadly I'm slow as I reach the exit. just a little bit away, I can see a covenant drop ship fly away. seems they just got dropped off, but interesting enough I only see an elite, and two grunts. The others must of gone the opposite direction, maybe they're planning an ambush for the guys to come back...? crap, they're heading over, I walk to the edge of the entrance, and move around it slowly so they don't notice me.

I get to the other side of the entrance as I hear them walking inside. I look around, but I don't see the rest of them, I slowly walk to the edge, and I see jackals, and a few grunts watching the sides of the beach. While another jackal bullies a grunt, they're all looking away.

So far it seems they're waiting for the masterchief, I back away from the edge to the entrance while walking towards the trees. Every few steps I stop, and listen in case they come back, I hear nothing, and take a peek as I get closer. I don't see anyone, and try to run to the trees, but a spasm of pain hits my shoulder. I slow down a little, and make it to the trees safely before going further. I walk away from that area, and make it through the bushes while crouching from time to time. I look to see if there's any covenant, but I only see the dead bodies ahead, seems they haven't sent reinforcements here yet, "stop delaying, we need to get to the pelican before any forces come back. we're running out of time!". I look down to the hovering AI, I nod, and continue forward, I think about going around instead of being out in the open, but she urges me to go faster.

I make it through, but I feel odd that I hadn't gotten shot at yet. Im paranoid, but as I think about it I get yelled at again, "hurry up!". I continue on, after making it past to the first area you land on for silent cartographer.

I notice a downed pelican beside the beach. I see a few burn marks on the ground from plasma grenades, and the scorch marks of plasma fire on the pelican. Regardless, I don't see anyone inside as I run towards the pelican. I feel a little pain as a run to the back of the pelican where I run right into someone. They're shorter than me, and we both end up rolling as I feel the pain in my shoulder flare up. I look at the person I ran into, and see it's a grunt. I panic as I reach out for my pistol that I dropped, before I realize the grunt isn't moving....

I look at it carefully, and get near, I can't help but laugh a little as I see it shaking a little? it's playing dead...yap yap? I shake my head, pass the grunt with my stuff into the pelican, as my ai takes control, and gets ready to leave.

She ignores the odd situation with the grunt, and looks at me, "They left it intact for us, but we need to get out of here before they go through, we can't follow until they give us a signal, so strap in already". I strap my back pack to the side, as well as my sniper, I start to get into the seat before I stop.

I look back at the grunt still playing dead, and head back towards it, "where are you going?" she asks. I think it's yap yap, who's playing dead, regardless I take his stuff, and smile as I get back inside, best he doesn't harm the pelican after it starts to fly.

I go back to the front, and sit in the cockpit as my AI shakes her head, "I have no words". I see the back closing as I turn back to her, "it's yap yap, he will be fine"

she looks at me before shaking her head again.

The pelican takes a bit to start up, but she gets it going, I can't believe how easy I got through, the pain starts to throb a bit, but not as much as before. hopefully it heals soon, "get some sleep, It will be a while before we can follow after them". I look at her, and thank her before sleeping, I hope the pains gone after I wake up...

As the pelican flies away, a single tear slides down the grunts face.
