Chapter 26: Turning the tides.

[Chapter 26: Turning the tides.]

Meanwhile, Ayaka at her middle school.

"Right about now, brother is probably having their P.E class on their gym right now." Ayaka thought aloud to herself between breaks.

"How do you know that?" Kaori commented, thinking 'That's kind of creepy.'

"Bro-con" sneered Kaori.

Ayaka smacked Kaori's head and told her off. "Don't call me that."

"A, anyways. Is chuunibro any good in sports?" Kaori inquired, seemingly used to the pain of being hit as she scratched her head.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine. He has "that" skill, after all."

"That" skill?"

Kaori inquired further.

Ayaka grinned and pointed at her eye, and revealed.

"Imaginary skill: "Perfect Eye to Body coordination." A.K.A "Pefect Copy."

The ball is now on Kaido's hand.

He charge forward confidently like the last time because he knew the girls wouldn't be able to defend much.

Because of that confidence, he got careless and I easily stole the ball from his hands as he dribbled. We are now again on the offence.

Yahiko tried defending against me. He was planning on stealing the ball as it bounces on the floor, before I could even do a cross over.

He tried predicting where the ball would go depending on the way I dribbled. However, all of a sudden, I changed my rhythm. From regular to fast then slow slow tempo. He noticed I extended myself to one direction thinking that's where I would go.

He lost his defensive stance and I easily passed through his weakened defense the moment he showed an opening.

'He knows how to use hesitation dribbles!?'

Again, at that time I don't know what movements I'm using and was just going with the flow, basing it if it was still under the rules.

So after crossing Yahiko, I did a layup and the ball went in the ring making the score 5-3.

"Yeah!"

The girls shouted, high-fiving each other, celebrating as we scored.

Slowly, more spectators took interest in our friendly game and started watching.

"Whoa!"

The spectators who were there from the beginning started to be more invested in the game, more than earlier from when it started.

Restarting the game, Soba passed the ball to Shiki then Shiki passed the ball to Yahiko.

They advanced forward and I was the one who defended against Yahiko.

Currently, I don't know how to defend properly so... When Yahiko passed the ball to Kaido who was left unguarded and already below the ring. After Kaido received the ball, he performed a layup while I couldn't do a thing.

The distance from me to under the ring was quite a distance so I couldn't really do much in that situation. It was quite a smart move coming from them.

The ball went in and another score was added to Soba's team, making the score now 6-3 in their favor.

"We won't let you come close that easily" the enemy team proclaims.

The score is now 6-3. We now hold the ball again, preparing to attack. I took possession of the ball and our team advanced forward.

Now face to face with Kaido, whose performance can be argued their best player amongst the enemy group is now defending against me.

"This time, I won't let you pass."

I did another hesitant dribble then faked do a crossover. It was a big step forward like diving through his defense, so he tried chasing me, following the direction I was seemingly going.

Midway, Kaido realizes that it was all an act. He tried to get back to his position, but it was too late. The moment he tried to turn, his momentum can't stop and lost balance making him drop to the floor.

'An ankle breaker?!!'

Seeing him on the ground. It was now a clear shot. Right here in the three pointer line, I jumped and shot the ball in the air just like Soba did in their fifth point for their team.

The ball went in without hitting the ring exactly like how Saba-kun's did.

That makes the score 6-4.

"Whoaaaa!!! An ankle breaker!!!"

The spectators went wild and shouted out of shock and excitement from the sight of an ankle breaker.

"Did you see that!"

"An ankle break!"

Because of the noice. More and more people gathered to watch the game from how intense the match was going.

Shiki dribbling the ball. He passed it to Hakuto. Kaido who was waiting on the middle for a pass.

"Hakuto! Pass me the ball."

Hakuto about to pass the ball was blocked and the ball was stolen by none other than me.

It clearly can be seen that they're formation starting to break and body slowing down from fatigue.

With only Soba Hito waiting in the back line near the ring, I charged.

Soba Hito, who only knows how to shoot and incapable of defending panicked.

His shoelace shoe lace came undone and didn't even notice. So when he tried to take a step, he tripped.

He's now kneeling on the floor as if he were a table.

The crowd cheered for me as I charged forward.

"Go! You can do it"

"Yeah, beat them!"

Seeing the opportunity, I stepped on Soba's back, using him as a foot step, compensating for my lack of jump and was able to do a full blow dunk on the ring.

'He stepped on him...?' [Referee.]

'He stepped on him...?' [Spectators.]

'He stepped on me?!' [Soba.]

'Did he just step on him?' [Everyone else]

I stepped on Soba's back to get a boost without knowing it was a foul.

The score is now 6-5. Or it was supposed to be.

*Whistle*

"Technical Foul. You can't step on players to use them as boost. What do you think you're doing?"

I cluelessly looked at the referee and replied.

"Lag."

I was never really taught which are fouls. So when I saw an opportunity to step on Soba when he's down, I took it and used him as if he was a footstool for my dunk.

The referee didn't count the point for the foul so the score is still 6-4.

After confronting me what I did wrong and explaining to me why, the game continued.

Resetting the game, Soba's team holds the ball and charged.

Yahiko who was dribbling passed it to Soba who's already waiting on the left side of the three pointer line.

I, who was defending against Kaido was on the opposite end so I don't have enough distance to block Soba's shot.

Luckily, when Soba tried to shoot at the three pointer line, it misses and bounces off the rim.

I, at the time was already under the ring by then and was now up against Yahiko on the rebound.

Just like the first time at the jump ball, I grab a hold of the ball first.

I charged forward, and when I was about already halfway through the court, Kaido and Shiki stopped me and was double teaming against me.

"You can't pass the two of us at once.

"Sigh."

I took a deep breath and,

I stepped back, passing the half court line and shot at half court's distance.

No one can do nothing but silently watch as the ball flies over everyone's heads.

And then... The ball went in breaking everyone's silence.

"Did you see that? At half court distance?"

"Half court? Let's Gooo!"

"Why isn't that guy in the basketball team!"

"His shooting range is half court?!"

"Has no one tried scouting him?"

Spectators are rousing and student's in clubs set their eyes on me as I, at the time looked really athletic and fit to be a member as a potential ace.

Soba-kun's team looking utterly defeated.

"Damnit. That should be us getting praised!"

"Yeah. It should have been me, not him!"

"Well, that's what we get for underestimating our opponents. I guess..."

"Let's just get this over with. I'm tired."

"The game's not over yet. Let's prioritize restraining Saito-kun's movement. We haven't lost yet."

Their morals are getting lowered by the minute but still believed they have some chance to win.

I sinisterly grinned as I thought to myself,

'With all conditions met, I think it's time to reveal my new special move. Kukuku...'

Info.

[Perfect Eye to Body coordination.]

Eyes > Brain > Body.

Almost like a cheat ability, it allows you to borrow other people's skills just from witnessing them once to a couple more times.

However, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to copy the other person's technique to 100% perfection.

As the name suggests, "imaginary". In reality, it is solely dependent on your body's capabilities, only basing your form depending on other people's form that you witnessed.

At the end of the day, you're only using previous skill knowledge and experiences to fill in the missing elements to achieve the desired move you wanted to pull off.

[End of explanation.]

I know this might seem getting off tracked, but trust me bros. This chapter serves a purpose.

Next chapter would resolve why Yukiya did that, and you might get a better understanding of how his character works.
